I agree with many reviewers that Michael's "Joseph" is a little subdued. Donny Osmond's Joseph is superior. HOWEVER...I would buy only this version because of the superiority of the remainder of the cast. I LOVE THIS CAST. No one sounds cartoony...which for some reason I dislike for this musical. The brothers are all delightful, the narrator superb, and PHAROAH...wow...the best. I do believe this Pharoah was the same used in the video version of Joseph with Donny Osmond. I don't know...I don't mind the lackluster Joseph...because the rest of the cast just beams from this album! Go Go Go Joseph!Free Music Review: One of the best recordings or Joseph!

I love this recording - I know that others have complained about Michael Damian's voice, but Robert Torti, Gerry McIntyre, and Kelli Rabke make this a joy to listen to and really round out the numbers. They are wonderful!
If you're a fan of the more recent film version (starring Donny Osmond), then you'll appreciate Robert Torti and Gerry McIntyre appearing on this recording as they reprised their roles in the film as Pharoah and Judah (respectively).
There are a number of versions of this soundtrack out there, but this is definitely my favorite.

I have had the amazing oportunity to be involved in a production of Joseph and it can't be beat! This revival that originated in the early 90's is one of Lloyd Webber's best. It's amazing musical score and its catchy tunes are hard to surpass. Michael Damian is one of the best Joseph's I have ever heard, and this production's Narrorator is truly a treat. If you ever have the opportunity to see this amazing show I encourage you to GO GO GO to Joseph. This CD is a fabulous tribute to a great show, and a must have for all Joseph fans!Free Music Review: personal preferences

I have the LA cast and the Canadian cast for this soundtrack. Personally, I like the LA cast better because of the narrator. Joseph is weak, but liveable. In the Canadian cast, the narrator is uttererly annoying by trying to prove what a great singer she is. It just doesn't work. On the other hand, Donny Osmond is the best Joseph I have ever heard. The best of both worlds is Maria Friedman and Osmond in the video. But, which recording to get depends on whether you prefer a strong narrator (LA) or a strong Joseph (Canadian).Free Music Review: Awesome

I absolutely love this musical. It was the first broadway musical I ever saw - I saw it about 10 years ago. We bought this CD right afterward and went on a family vacation to Europe soon after... this CD was played throughout the ENTIRE trip. I know every word to every song, and to me it never gets old!! I ended up being in the play and seeing the movie with Donny Osmond as well, but I always loved this version the most and finally found it on Amazon. This is an absolutely incredible version, I highly recommend it.
