Free Music Review: josh groban's voice is remarkable
Hit: 5 Stars

a lot of us has peppered josh groban with a variety of superlatives ranging from amazing to remarkable, and push people to buying this cd. a lot of us would compare his 2nd album to the first and say that the first one is better. some of us are disappointed at this album and would wonder at the fate of this new boy wonder of voice (as heralded by the ny times). all of us are entitled to their opinion, and i am taking advantage of this feature to comment on the first artist that i listen mostly to: josh groban.

i would like to comment that josh groban is here to stay. i would agree to all of you who have said that he is a remarkable talent and a refreshing voice amidst the rap and the noise that is being called pop music. i don't like one album more than the other, on the contrary, i like them equally because they were made with the same passion and love for music even though this cd is much more commercialized than the first one (blame warner on just now realizing what josh can do for them). each cd was made with a certain intention and purpose, the first one was to introduce this talented boy and make him palatable to classical crowd AND to the more contemporary crowd, and this one was to allow him to experiment, explore with music, give something more to his fans and listeners, and also to also follow his dream.

given that josh groban is still a young performer, it's not surprising to note that he'd want to relate to a younger crowd first, and yet he also has this great taste in music and the eagerness to share these to younger people. one has got to admire his sensibilities and passion to share and record music in various languages and to revive classic favorites so that they would be embraced by a new, younger crowd. he has brought fine culture to the masses without intimidating them, and i think that classical purists should appreciate his efforts at bringing classical music to the masses and not bash his experimentation, besides, music, after all is ever changing and heck, as long as it sounds THIS good, i'd listen to it.

all in all, i admire him for making it easy for us to listen to the music that i would normally have to scavenge for. i for one am the type who listen to originals, and sometimes i would get discouraged at how some music are hard to find. i don't think i should say that all of his renditions are better, i just find it equally good and also a new perspective on singing those songs, i believe he doesn't want to make a certain song better and to take credit on making a song better, on the contrary, everything he does is simply in honor and in tribute to them.

as for the original songs in this album and the first, i don't think i can imagine another person singing them. i have heard various versions of you're still you and to where you are, but his would still remain the best.

he is certainly a gifted man, i only hope for greater things to come in the future for this kind man with an exquisite gift and a charming persona.

Free Music Review: THIS ALBUM RAISED ME 5 Stars

Just like the beer commercial, "It doesn't get any better than this..." and Josh's third album doesn't get any better than this! I'm a Grobanite myself and I can't say enough how soooo in love I am with this album! I loved his debut album, but "Closer" is even better. The title says it all. Josh is getting closer to divine perfection. It's full of more passion, more emotion, and again it shows another side of Josh that hasn't been seen or heard of on his previous album. I have to agree with the previous viewer, this album leaves you wanting more. I still can't get enough of Josh Groban's breathtaking voice! Here are some of my favorites:
My Confession--This should be his next single! I love the lyrics and pop flare on this one. "And I feel myself surrender each time I see your face. I am staggered by your beauty, your unassuming grace..."

Broken Vow--This song just makes me cry because I broke up with my boyfriend a couple years ago. The memories are still painful. "I'd give away my soul to hold you once again, and never let this promise end."

Mi Mancherai--I love the violin on this one!!!

Remember When It Rained--Josh wrote the music and lyrics to this one. You even get to hear Josh play the piano on this track!

When You Say You Love Me--This song just moved me to tears and gave me even more goosebumps. I hope to play this song at my wedding when we take our vows. "What could it be that comes over me? At times I can't move. At times I can hardly breathe."

Per Te--It's another one Josh co-wrote. I play that song over and over and over again! Just breathless!

You Raise Me Up--That is getting to be his signature song! I expect to hear that at graduations, funerals, or awards ceremonies a lot these days.

This album made me want to grab a hankie at the end because the songs are so powerful and meaningful in emotion and spirit. I have never been moved by the power of music before, and after listening to Josh Groban's third album, I have to say it was sooo breathtakingly beautiful, it almost left me in tears.

So what's with all the negative criticism? I think this album is worth it! God have mercy on all those bastards who gave this CD a one-star rating. This is probably the best Josh Groban album ever, and it just keeps getting better. Keep it coming, Josh! I love you!!!!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing you in Wichita in May!

Free Music Review: Phenomenal for romantics!
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD may have been released last year, but it is worth revisiting again. Since the 2001 release of Josh Groban's self-titled debut album, featuring the global hit "To Where You Are," Josh Groban has become a musical phenomenon, selling over five million albums worldwide. He has made numerous television appearances and his duet with Charlotte Church at the closing ceremonies of the Salt Lake City Olympics was seen by over a billion people. (The song sung at the Olympics, "The Prayer," is found on his first album.) His fan base has grown to international levels and they have affectionately dubbed themselves "Grobanites."

With his 2003 album Closer, his vocal range continues to soar to unprecedented heights. From the sweeping melodic opener, "Oceano," the heart-wrenching "Broken Vow", evolving to his second hit single, "You Raise Me Up," his vocal aptitude and talent is unmistakable. His passion applied to the lyrics "When You Say You Love Me," is a tender ballad, a perfect song for a newly married couple to share their first dance. "~My Confession," and "Remember When It Rained," are two melancholic songs about lost relationships that he brings amazing depth and feeling. Even when singing in a foreign tongue, "All 'improvviso," and "Hymme a l'amour," Josh Groban has no problem translating the emotion of the song through the music. Listeners will be enchanted by his sensual voice and music. Though many artists have a difficult time matching the success of their first album, Josh Groban does not disappoint fans but solidifies his standing as one of the premier singers of our time.

Josh Groban has also lent his voice to the movie soundtrack of "Troy," and has a new song "Believe" featured on the Polar Express Soundtrack. His new CD/DVD, "Live at the Greek" will be released November 30,2004.

At the tender age of 23, Josh Groban has years ahead of him with a voice ahead of his time. Whether you are lucky enough to see him in concert or just relaxing to his music at home, Josh Groban's music resonates in the hearts and minds of everyone who hears it.

Free Music Review: Somewhere in Obscurity, Apollo is Weeping in Shame
Hit: 5 Stars

Perfection. Absolute perfection. Anyone who thinks Josh is "an over-produced Clay Aiken wannabe" needs to be sent back to preschool. simple as that. The only gripe I have is that "You Raise Me Up" is not near as good as everyone says it is. It's sort of played. But all the other songs... God, they are truly masterpieces.

Oceano - When he sings, you can actually FEEL and SEE the waves of the ocean. It really captures the essence of the ocean. It's so soft and then just CRASHES (in a good way) down on you. And the orchestration is perfect. Not to mention, Oceano has a wicked awesome translation. (Am I the only person who bothers to look these things up?)

My Confession - Excellent song. I really love the lyrics. They are really different from most songs about love. "I am capture by your beauty, you unassuming grace" is just SO much better than "I'm gonna rock your body."

Mi Mancherai - Very good. I really like the violin. The Italian is absolutely beautiful. And the song itself just as good.

And now I skip to...

Per Te - Sexy! Best way I can put it. It's sexy, but not overtly so. The lyrics are absolutely beautiful. Did anyone notice the hum? That is like, I-am-gonna-faint sexy.

All'Improvviso Amore - Dude... the ENERGY! It's such an energetic song. But not bouncy bubbly energetic. Like... sunlight energetic. Awesome.

Caruso - I CRIED when I heard this song in concert. It has the most beautiful, sincere lyrics I have ever heard. Not to mention the notes are sung PERFECTLY. This is one of his best songs.

Remember When it Rained - Josh is quite a poet. The lyrics are simple, but so very amazing. The meaning of this song can be taken so many ways. It's really one of those songs that make you think.

Never Let Go - Futuristic, almost. And very very very very awesome. It's almost weird to hear it. I really love the weird vocalization in the beggining of the song. And the lyrics are rockin'. Wicked rockin'. This is another song that makes you think. And I like that,

Overall, this is one of the best CDs you could ever buy. And dude... the PICTURES. Josh is a GOD. He is so gorgeous. Somewhere in obscurity, Apollo is weeping in shame.

Free Music Review: Well.
Hit: 5 Stars

After walking into a local records shop, I was struck by the beautiful music playing in the background and wondered who on earth the owner of this heavenly voice could be, whereupon I discovered Josh Groban. That record was his debut album, self-titled.
And since then I have thanked the day that I walked into that record shop and to the amusement of the cashier paid for whatever they were playing on the spot. Anyone who is familiar with his music will understand: if not, I will explain.
Josh Groban is one of those artists that seems to hold his own, that doesn't need publicity but carries his work with that indefinable majesty. Every song he sings he seems to know your emotions, seems to connect with them through the tones of his voice. For such a young voice to carry so much emotion is remarkable. Truly Remarkable.
So, after hearing the inspiring, sometimes simply heartbreaking and always BEAUTIFUL debut album, I was rather split. Did I buy the album CLOSER, which I craved just to hear new melodies being commanded by this voice, or did I not buy it and be safe with the debut - would it let the splendour of the first album down? Would his songs sink in to that usually inevitable repetitive genre, that does not inspire, that does not send a shiver up your spine repeatedly and a stirring in your stomach?
It was better than the debut album. That's something hard to beat.
Only a minute in was I to the first track, that I laughed out loud to the delightful feelings of inspiration the natural power and passion of Josh Groban's voice.
If you dear reader are strange to this true talent, then please drop any hesitation you may have. He is not another reeled off singer with an infuriating smirk and shake of the mouth, the only emotions present in the voice being one, of self-satisfaction. Josh Groban is a real vocalist who can play the strings of your emotions as the wonderful string players offering splendid, stunning, 'welling' backgrounds to this PROPER voice of an angel.
I've heard nothing like it.
As one 60 year old friend pointed out on my 16th birthday last night, where we had Josh Groban playing to the black tie garden dinner: "His voice makes me want to cry."
I think that says it all, do you not?
