Free Music Notes for Greatest HitsFree Music Review: The Best Journey Collection To Date Hit: 5 Stars
This remastered re-released version of Journey's 1988 "Greatest Hits" compilation is by far the best Journey compilation to date, beating out even the two disc "The Essential Journey", whose second disc was entirely unneccessary.
Journey are one of the few bands best served with compilations than full albums, and just about every big Journey hit you could possibly want is here, including their biggest hit "Open Arms" as well as "Don't Stop Believin'", "Faithfully", "Any Way You Want It", "Lights", "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)", "Be Good To Yourself" and their 1996 Grammy winning hit "When You Love A Woman". All of the songs have been digitally remastered and sound excellent.
My only complaint is that the cd does not fill the eighty minute time limit, so a few more tracks could've been included (I was personally disappointed when I read that "After The Fall" was not included). I also would've loved to have seen some of their stuff with new lead singer Steve Augeri included, such as "Believe", which my cousin co-wrote.
Other than that, this is an absolutely fantastic Journey collection. Amd the booklet that comes with it is great.
Free Music Review: One of the Best!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Journey is one of the best selling American rock bands in history. With the combination of Steve Perry, one of the best voices in rock, with Neil Schon's guitar licks they were untouchable. Journey is a band that truly stands on their own. They mixed a combination of harder rocking songs like "Any Way You want it" and "Dont Stop Believen", with power ballads such as "Open Arms" and "Faithfully". This greatest hits package is one of the best compilation albums out there. This is a good snap shot of Journey's career from 78-98, however Journey had so many hit singles there are many that were left off the cd.
Hit Singles left off include:
1. Suzanne
2. Partys Over
3. Feeling that Way
4. Just the Same Way
5. Stay Awile
6. If he should break your heart
7. Stone in love
8. Still they ride
9 Mother, Father
10. Anytime
11. After the fall
12. Message of love
If you are more than a casual fan, your definetly going to want to also purchase "Time 3" or "The Essential Journey" to get the above songs along with the other hits.

I tell you something. I first saw Journey on a show called "Midnight Special" with the late Wolfman Jack. Anybody remember that? I saw this band and from the moment I saw Steve Perry, I knew without a doubt that this band was going all the way to the top. Steve Perry just blew this black woman away with his singing and I have been a fan of Journey from the moment I saw him! Can't nobody tell me that Steve Perry can't sing! Journey would never have been successful without him. He's a very talented singer and songwriter. I remembered when Journey came to Wichita, KS. The concert was SOLD OUT! The band gave me my money's worth!
How could they not especially with Steve Perry front and center stage rocking Wichita like they never been rocked before. I would recommend this CD to every Journey fan. I already own this CD and it is so good to hear the hits and think about the good memories that Journey gave me and others throughout one of the biggest highlights of their career. But I'm going to rate this CD 10 + stars because of the music, memories and most of all, the legendary Steve Perry.
Free Music Review: Great album Hit: 5 Stars
Those of us of a certain age remember all of these great songs. What certain age, you may ask? Well, when the lead singer breaks his hip, that's an indication that his fans may be closer to the same than they want to think. And these songs bring back a lot of memories. Sure, some of those memories are of the time you asked this girl to prom, even though you'd have to drive your dad's Oldsmobile Omega, but she decided she'd rather stay home than go with you, but you still remember that "Open Arms" was the official theme of the prom you didn't go to. But now we're old enough not to be bitter whenever we hear that song. Right?
This album has just enough Journey, and includes all the hits without leaving any out or adding a lot of material from obscure sources that the casual fan may not have much interest in. If you're a hardcore Journey fan, buy all of the CDs; if you just like the music and you're having some 80s nostalgia, just buy this CD instead. It's full of great songs and it's a lot of fun.
Free Music Review: A Great Introduction to Journey Hit: 5 Stars
To me, bands and artists release greatest hits albums for one reason. That reason is to get people who aren't too familiar with the artist to get them to know their songs, their style, and their genre. With Journey's Greatest Hits, its the perfect album for that reason. With pretty much all their well known songs such as "Any Way You Want It", "Wheel in the Sky", and "Don't Stop Believin'" along with their other hits such as "Open Arms", "Separate Ways", and "Who's Crying Now". The reissue has the Trial By Fire hit "When You Love A Woman" and remastered, not as good as their other reissues. Overall, I'd recommend it for people who don't know what Journey is all about and to the mega collector. It's a nice collection, has all the hits to get people into the band, and it's a cheap and easy album to find, yet if you're yearning for more Journey, there's Time3 that has 55 songs and The Essential Journey with 32 or 40 songs. Overall it's great album for everyone!
