Free Music Review: A Smooth Jazz Classic
Hit: 5 Stars

The music world lost a great musician when the late Grover Washington Jr. was taken away from us so suddenly. But fortunately, he left us so many classic albums to cherish for many generations to come, with "Winelight" being just one of them. What can I say about this record that hasn't already been said. This album is without a doubt a smooth jazz classic, & it still sounds fresh today just like the time it was recorded back in 1980. All six cuts are classics, but the one that stands out for me is my personal favorite, "In The Name Of Love". The melody of this song is so beautiful & melencholy, that I guarantee you will start thinking of your current love, or reflect on a love in your past, like I always seem to do when I hear this piece. If I'm not mistaken, I believe that a vocal version of this song was recorded as well. But anyway, the entire "Winelight" album is perfect for those romantic candlelight dinners, or if you just want to chill at home after a hard day. And for those who think that smooth jazz is borderlining on predictable boredom (a la Kenny G.), "Winelight" may change that thought for you. If you want a more grittier, more funkier Grover, pick up his album "Feels So Good" from 1975 (another personal favorite), or anything from his Kudu/CTI period, which has thankfully been re-released after years of being out of print. But definetely make "Winelight" your first choice, & lose yourself in a world when music was music, & without all those cheesy, drum machine beats that is so dreadfully common in music today. Thank you Grover. May you rest in peace.

Free Music Review: One of the best
Hit: 5 Stars

This is one of the best recordings I have. Even though I don't care much for jazz or the sax and I only own one other jazz recording, I never tire of listening to this.

Free Music Review: Out of Body Experience
Hit: 4 Stars

This album is completely different in character from all Groover Washington's other offerings particulary of the 70s. Although his saxophone style can still be recongnised, I would have sworn is was done by another artist. Maybe it was the influence of Bill Withers on the production. By it showed a different side to Groover, a kind of finesse in its finishing. That is why I think it might have been "an out of body experience for him"

Nevertheless a great work.

Free Music Review: Grover, You're The Best!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have always been a huge fan of Mr. Grover Washington Jr.'s music. He paved the way for all Smooth Jazz Artists of our generations with his soulful smooth saxophone delights. His tone was unique and undeniable. All musicians need to study this legend. Winelight is a classic piece. "Mr. Magic" is still relevant today. That's an incredible feat.

After looking all over town in local retails for this particular CD I came to Amazon and found it. The CD arrived in a timely fashion, and it has been listened to often.

The CD was a gift to my husband who loves light jazz. He and I have been listening to it frequently, it's a great CD with a good mix of instrumental and vocals. I would recommend it if you are a fan of jazz.
