Free Music Review: Nostradamus is an Amazing Journey
Hit: 5 Stars

First off..I'm a Judas Priest fan since 1978 when I first heard Stained Class, now 30 years later I'm still a "Defender of the Faith", Priest have a produced a "Masterpiece"..I know some of you will argue this till the cows come home, but this is the kinda album I have been waiting for. It's alike a journey back to the early 70's with Sad Wings of Destiny, Rocka Rolla, Sin after Sin and so forth. There's no 4 chord "Hits" on this cd, Priest have really worked hard on making "Progressive" music on this album. If you want Painkiller, or British Steel then go put those albums on, because what you have here is a journey of Light and Dark Themes, some Agressive some very melodic and soft. Rob Halford has given you the perfomance of his life on this album, some beautiful compositions on this really make his voice shine. So if your into the more Symphonic, Progressive, Melodic Rock and Metal this will be to your liking. If you into the more Heavy Jugulator & Painkiller type then you'll be dissappointed...again I love Priest and I'm happy they did something different instead of the same old "Formula".
Highlights are:
Calm before the Storm
Nostradamus
Sands of Time
Death
lost love
Persecution
Exiled

Free Music Review: "Nostradamus" is to Judas Priest as "The Wall" is to Pink Floyd
Hit: 5 Stars

To all the bashers of this album, I offer this perspective... listen to "Painkiller", and then to "Nostradamus". After that, listen to "Dark Side Of The Moon", then listen to "The Wall (Deluxe Packaging Digitally Remastered)". Now, why I say this, is that both sets of albums are similar in that they have the same type of differences within the same band. Different genres, same idea. Anyhow, picked this album up the day it was released, and I have to say I was not disappointed in the least. The electronic keyboard ambience is what I was afraid of having the biggest issue with, was actually a very welcome addition to this record. Great job, Priest!!! Still need to give the album a full all the way through at once listen, but I doubt that will change my opinion in the slightest. This album proves that Priest isn't content to just make the same record over and over again. They tried something new, and in my opinion, it worked immensely well.

Free Music Review: A heavy metal feast for your ears!
Hit: 5 Stars

I was prompted to write a review based on some of the negative reviews. People tend to say there aren't a lot of good songs on this album, or that it is too slow moving.

In my opinion, this album is chock full of great songs! Yes it is a double album, but every other song is an atmospheric musical interlude, so instead of two CDs full of non-step metal, you're really getting about one long album's worth of songs connected and filled out with the interludes. The songs themselves are also layered with tons of synths, background vocals, keyboards, etc. Between the interludes, all the layering, and the pure length of this album, most people aren't going to "get it" until they've listened to it more than a few times.

This album is a "grower"; each time I listen to it, I like it more, and find something new in the music to appreciate. It may not be the most intense, pure heavy metal release that Priest has put out, but it is probably their greatest accomplishment and most interesting release. It's not for the casual fan or those whose favorite Priest songs are "Living After Midnight" and "Breaking the Law", but if you appreciate epic, atmospheric rock and metal, Nostradamus is a joy.

Free Music Review: A Judas Priest masterpiece !!
Hit: 5 Stars

The new Judas Priest album Nostradamus is a masterpiece !! As it has been said quite a few times now, it's not your typical metal headbanging album... But JP are known for evolving from one album to another, and that's exactly what they did here. Having said that, this album has quite a few great metal moments with songs such as Persecution, Pestilence & Plague with its chorus snug in italian or the now famous Nostradamus, but most of the songs are awesome mid-tempos... The beginning of the album is really impressive with Prophecies, Revelations, then the grandiloquent War, which makes you feel as if you were in the middle of a battle field. My personal favourite, Death, comes next and sees JP making an almost Doom song... There are a lot of very beautiful and full of emotion prelude or songs such as Exiled, Alone which are sung by a Rob Halford in top of his form, even if he doesn't sing in such a high register as before.

Even if it's 1H40 long, you can't help yourself to listen to this piece again and again, and hear a lot of new things each time !! One thing is sure, JP just made a perfect concept album, with great writing, solos, lyrics and the voice of the Metal God !!

Free Music Review: Zeitgeist...
Hit: 5 Stars

Zeitgeist... at least for music anymore, is buying a hit song or two by any one artist off of iTunes at any given time. Gone are the days when you buy an album (yes, the whole album), put it in and listen from start to finish, in the order the artist intended... to tell you a story.

Today, we are too busy with our iPods, listening on shuffle to our favorite songs. The art of writing an album has been forgotten. And why not? I mean, you can just go on the Internet and get the songs you like, right?

Well, Judas Priest's 'Nostradamus' takes you back to that time, when you bought an album and listened. You paid attention to each song. You got really excited as each track transitioned into the next. You enjoyed the story. You enjoyed the album. Yes, the WHOLE album.

I just don't think a lot of people appreciate this way of experiencing music anymore. For those of us who do (or even those of us who are new to the idea), thank you Judas Priest, for an excellent musical experience!

Judas Priest's 'Nostradamus' is an amazing heavy metal ALBUM. Remember those?

And yes, there are plenty of good *songs* on there too!
