i ran across julieta venegas in a magazine article, and after sampling some songs from our favorite music-swapping utility, i knew immediately i needed more. so i bought both bueninveto and her debut, aquí. and what can i say? bueninveto is a great album. more cutting-edge musically than aquí -- more guitar and less piano -- yet very approachable and extremely catchy. me lo ecanata!! favorite tracks include: "fe", "hoy no quiero", "voluntad" and "flor", pero todos los canciónes son muy fuerte.
and gringos fear not: if you don't speak spanish, you'll find youreself singing along nonetheless. a truly wonderful album.

Today, the "alternative" is used to describe much of today's music. But most of the music that is promoted as being alternative is just pop, bands that have tunes that may sound a bit "dark", or "deep", but in the end are just failing attempst to produce original material. Venegas, however, has the purest type of alternative aproach to music. A totaly original usege of materials (texture/instrumentation/arrangments), and lyrical relevance (music that supports the words). With amazing craft and production, Bueninvento is a collection of vanguard, inovating songs. You will like it.Free Music Review: The good invention from Venegas

For me, is the must original and best album from Venegas. Unless the next titles put the singer in the lists, i'm sure than this work is the best composition in the Mexican Rock music. The lyrics are related perfectly with the mexican culture, and explain many woman senses like can't be totally free but release from his predators.
I dare to say than this is the best work from Julieta Venegas to they puclic. Unless SI and SAL Y LIMON albums sell more copies, don't show the strength in the voice of the artist.

I totally love this album. Julieta is the best song writer in the world. Her songs are so deep and by listening at her songs you can tell that she is a very smart person and that she is not an every day singer. I hope that when I grow up I can write songs as good as her. My favorite song in the album is OTRO SOL because it represents how I once felt. Also the last song,SUENO DE SOMBRAS, is a beautiful song. I don't think that another song writer can write a song like SUENO DE SOMBRAS. This is a must have album.Free Music Review: So WHAT if you don't speak or understand Spanish?

Don't let that stop you from tuning into Julieta. Well that's my opinion at least. She has an acoustic rockers edge that is soothing to the ears. This is one of the few discs I seldom get tired of listening to. I'm not a big fan of over blown Latin pop and at first I was afraid that's what Julieta was all about, but she is the opposite. She's more along the lines of Natalie Merchant or PJ Harvey. And that's cool by me. If only Lilith Fair was still around, she would be perfect on the bill!
