Free Music Notes for CrossFree Music Review: BESt ELECtRONIC ALBUM IN YEARS!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
If you hate techno you will love this album!!
If you love techno this album is NOT techno but you will love it!!
if you are like me you thought Human After All was awesome and loved it like your own son but felt it was waaay too repetitive and needed more breaks this is your Holy grail!! Come renew your faith in electronic music. This CD brings the soul and the funk but doesn't stray from the intensity that pumps the whole record into my top 5 albums OF ALL TIME.
"let there be light" perfectly executes one of the best electronic breakdowns to date.
Songs like "One Minute To Midnight" calm down the flow to keep your head from exploding delivering brilliant SEGA GENISIS sounds and kill bill "Run Fay Run" claps i swear you can feel the wind in your hair as you drive your classic mustang off into the night, blood still dripping off your leather jacket. this is a whole new level of BADASSERY
"Stress" i didn't like at first it was almost too much for me... now i firmly reguard it as the new "thriller"
"New Jack" THAT'S FUNKY bubblejem sounds smashed between radio station fuzz no no wait it's TeslaCoil electric arking. brilliant
"D.A.N.C.E." DAMN THAT'S FUNKY!! Thunder, Lightning, Strike real funky guitar, and electric organ.
"DVNO" here come the men in black style violin and claps slathered on robo-soul it works soo well and just when you thought you got all the song had to offer BAM!! Sonic Mega Collection Plusish + Road Rash 3Delectrocution sounds to which there are only two reactions humanly possible. doubletime jazzhands and a HUGE grin.
Free Music Review: An impressive electronica debut Hit: 5 Stars
I can't deny not being impressed by the majority of the tracks on this album. I'm extremely purist when it comes to most dance music but Justice managed to wow me. While they're clearly heavily influenced by their fellow Frenchmen Daft Punk it doesn't prohibit them from creating their own unique sound. Their tracks are layered with funky beats and are guaranteed to get househeads on the dance floor. Here are my track ratings;
1. Genesis 10/10
2. Let There Be Light (album version) 10/10
3. D.A.N.C.E. [Album Version] 5/10
4. Newjack 10/10
5. Phantom 10/10
6. Phantom pt. II 10/10
7. Valentine 5/10
8. Tthhee Ppaarrttyy 4/10
9. Dvno 3:56 8/10
10. Stress 4:58 7/10
11. Waters Of Nazareth (album version) 10/10
12. One Minute To Midnight 10/10
This album by "the other" French dance duo is not to be missed. While not as ground breaking as most of Daft Punk's work it's definitely respectable in its own right. Give it a listen and hopefully you'll be as impressed as I was.
Free Music Review: This album really has it all Hit: 5 Stars
I'm really into Daft Punk, so when I first heard about Justice (through their singles We Are Your Friends and D.A.N.C.E. as well as their remix of Daft Punk's Human After All) and the two were being compared I was pretty excited. Each song I heard by Justice left me impressed. They definitely put out the album of the year. Cross has such a wide range of electronic music that anyone can find several songs they enjoy. From the funky sliced up song Newjack to the fast paced Stress, Phantom, and Phantom Pt. II, or the Michael Jackson tribute "D.A.N.C.E.", the album always has you loving a new tune and each song sounds as though a different artist made them. The only song I might shy away from is Tthhee Ppaarrttyy, with its rap vocals provided by Ed Banger label mate Uffie, but even that song is catchy.
Free Music Review: Frenchmen Make Great Dance Albums...Now For People Who Don't Even Dance! Hit: 5 Stars
I've come across same people slamming this CD on the grounds that it's a dance album for dorks who (1) can't dance to save the lives a bagful of adorable kittens, and (2) don't like to listen to dance music, partly because it reminds them of their tragic handicap. There's an essay about the album in this year's Village Voice Pazz and Jop poll that sums up this argument. To which I say: yeah, sure, and what's so wrong with that? It's a dance album for the geeky toe-thumpers amongst us -- those nerdy enough to smile in goofy glee when they recognize the music from Dario Argento movies being sampled, or who like to lay back and imagine it as the soundtrack to the coolest Night of the Living Dead sequel yet. It's as stupid and fun as early Iron Maiden or AC/DC, only even better.
Free Music Review: The evolution of disco music Hit: 5 Stars
This is hard 21st-century disco. A lot of people compare Justice to Daft Punk, but don't buy this expecting to hear anything like Daft Punk. This sound is completely different. It's harder and heavier. The highlights for me are "Genesis" and "Phantom" (pts. I & II). "D.A.N.C.E." and "DVNO" are a lot more approachable for those who are looking for a more mainstream sound. "Stress" is the only track that I hit the skip button on. Other than that, the CD plays very well all the way through. One slight disappointment for me is the Uffie track "The Party". I really like "Hot Chick" by Uffie, but her contribution here is nowhere near as good. She can do better.
