Free Music Review: THIS GUY IS HERE TO STAY!
Hit: 5 Stars

"Those flashing lights come from everywhere (echo)
The way they hit her I had to stop & stare..."
These are the lyrics for the ending of "Lovestoned/I think she knows", which is just one of the many good songs on Justin Timberlake's well crafted new album "FutureSex/LoveSounds". Here is my review of Justin's excellent album track by track:

1)FutureSex/Lovesound-This song is a great way to start the album, it has a great futurisitic sound to it & it really works. I particularly like the chorus. 5/5

2)Sexyback-Ok, eventhough I am a huge Justin fan, I absolutely HATED this song when I first heard it. I thought it was stupid, had no chourus & I thought Justin sounded feminine...I also thought to myself "What the hell is bringing sexyback, when did it leave in the first place"?-HOWEVER, after a few more listens I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG NOW! It's so catchy and different from whatever is on radio right now...& suprisingly this song really works when it is performed live. Not to mention the fact that along with coming up with the phrase "Waldrobe Malfunction" Justin has also come up with the unlikely catchphrase "I'm bringing sexyback"-This guy is genius! 5/5

3)SexyLadies/Let Me Talk You-This song reminds me a bit of prince, it has a funky beat & is catchy, but it is repetative & overall it's one of the few weak tracks on the album. I actually fell asleep while listening to this song, lol sorry JT-I still love u though babes! 4/5

4)My Love-Ok, this song is just burning up the charts-I am hearing this song all over the place, on the radio, in the hood (which is suprising) everywhere!-THIS SONG IS MONSTER! Timbaland did a great job with the production, the beat on this song is amazing. TI is also a great addition to the song, his rap adds a nice flavor to it. I can't say enough good things about this "My Love"-everyone (for the most part) seems to be loving this song-the beat is just infectious, Great choice for a second single!-6/5

5)Lovestoned/I think she knows-This song is funky, danceable(that a word? lol), it's just an overall great song, but when you think the song comes to an end that's when things get interesting, this is like a two in one song combo. The ending of the "Lovestoned" segways into "I think she knows" which reminds me of a Coldplay track, the beat is AMAZING & I love the lyrics. This song is genius....6/5

6)What Goes Around/Comes Around Interlude-Like Lovestoned, this song is another two in one song combo. Some feel this song is about Britney, Justin denies this, but it has Britney written all over it. The lyrics on this "What goes around/comes around" are particularyly good & the "Comes Around" interlude is again genius (yes i love this word haha)! Everyone NEEDS to listen to this song, especially the ending because it really is incredible. I hope Justin releases this as a single. 6/5

7)Chop Me Up-This song is more hip hop than anything else on JT's album. Three Six Mafia, Justin & Timbaland have great chemistry & this song suprisingly works, a definite club banger! 5/5

8)Damn Girl-It took me a while to like this song, but now I really like it. It has Prince written all over it and Will.I.Am from the BEP did a good job on production. I also like the lyrics, i.e. when Justin says "I guess I gotta put it dowwwwwn tonite", Cameron u lucky girl! lol. 5/5

9)Summer Love/Set The Mood prelude-I really like this song. The beat is very good & catchy too bad JT didn't release it during the summer (no pun intended) because I think it would have been a big hit. I could listen to this song over and over. Nice! 5/5

10)Until The End of Time-Sexy! That's all I really need to say, but this song reminds me of something an R&B group such as Jodeci or Silk would have sung back in the day, it has a nice old school feel to it. I'm lovin this song. 5/5

11)Losing My Way-This song finds Justin venturing into different territory with lyrics that reference being a drug addicted man who has lost his family & friends. I read some reviews that criticized Justin for these lyrics but if he continued to only sing about Love, sex, girls & sex some more, people would still complain. So he can't win either way, but it's nice to see Justin take a risk and sing about something other than lost love & women. This song really works. It is very inspirational & the Choir was a very nice addition to the song, their voices are amazing! 6/5

12)(Another Song) All Over Again-I particularly like this song because it SHUTS DOWN what JT haters have to say as far as Justin not being able to sing. Justin shows what a great voice he has on this song with just him playin the piano (yes he does play instruments)...I suppose some think Justin can't sing because he uses his falsetto for most songs, but on this track Justin shows what he is capable of. This is his best vocal performance since "Gone"-I love the simplicity of this song. Great way to end the album! 6/5

Overall this is one of the best album's released this year. With the exception of one song (Sexyladies) This whole album works. Timbaland did a great job on the production and Justin has to be given credit also b/c i've noticed some act as though the producers just do all the work and Justin does nothing, but he wrote/co-wrote all the songs on the album and play's the piano and the guitar & he is just a very talented guy. Justin is the only one out of all the boybands to succeed solo, so obviously he know's what he's doing. I look forward to hearing more great albums from Justin in the future.

My top 5:

-FutureSex/Lovesound
-My Love
-What goes around/Comes Around
-Lovestoned/I think she knows
-Another Song (All over Again)

Free Music Review: I'd re-buy it 26 times.
Hit: 5 Stars

If I lost this album 26 times, I'd re-buy it 26 times. Of course, I would probably have to enroll in some kind of class or therapy to explore why I'm prone to losing things so much. I'm tempted to buy another copy now simply because it's in the used bin for 4.00. I am shocked by how much I love this album. Justin Timberlake is not one of my favorite people; and he undeniably bites the sound of Prince on this album. However, the songs are infectious, and just like I love Prince's music, I love this. Timberlake has been the most played artist on my iPod for the past year.

Justin Timberlake is not a better dancer or singer than Usher and Ginuwine, but he is more interesting and makes more interesting music. At first, I thought this album could not surpass the quality of Justified, but it has. There is certainly less deep lyrics here and more bravado, but Timbaland's beats and Justin's sheer effort make up for the lack of deep, more emotional songwriting.

1. Future Sex/Love Sound--a sexy, pulsing song. This easily could have been a single, and I'm surprised it wasn't. It's not as interesting as SexyBack, but it's still a winner.
2. SexyBack--my favorite song on the album and probably my favorite song for the past 10 months. On the first few listens, the song seemed empty, frivolous, and overly redundant. Now, it's simply an undeniable hit with a funky, electronic sound.
3. Sexy Ladies--easily the song with the most nauseating bravado. He's simply singing to us about all the hoes in different area codes he has. He's not tacky enough to actually call his women hoes, but he's still bragging about getting laid. That message has never appealed to me as a woman. While the message is not appealing, the sound and music is. I still like it.
4. My Love--My love features an intro that at first is very annoying, but it grows on you. The intro seamlessly leads into the real song, and you're treated to the heavy beat that works as the foundation of the track. There is a trend of putting intros on the same track as the real song. They should be separated. I don't appreciate having to listen to a 2-minute intro everytime I want to hear a song. I'm sure a lot of others don't either. Make the intros separate tracks.
5. LoveStoned--another beat heavy song that eventually meshes into a gorgeous rock/pop song. Great dance record.
6. What Goes Around--Another medley type song where the end is much different than the beginning and middle. It's pretty long, but interesting from beginning to end. This is considered Cry Me a River Pt. 2 with "you know who" as the possible subject. I don't believe he's ever gotten over "you know who."
7. Chop Me Up--this song is sort of strange. It features Three 6 Mafia (the rap group who won an Oscar not too long ago because the voters were still observing Black History Month). Chop Me Up works a lot better than it should. I love the Three 6 Mafia part, but Justin's lyrics are sort of corny. The song definitely has a dirty south, crunk sound. I really like it despite the almost awkward lyrics from Justin.
8. Damn Girl--an "almost great but not," song. It's decent but Will.I.Am's rap is totally aggravating and totally messes it up. Justin sings in a falsetto, and his style and the style of the song mirrors something Stevie Wonder might have done 35 years ago, only without the cursing.
9. Summer Love--a good song with another great beat. He says "girl" a lot in Summer Love, but it's important for him that people know he's not gay; so he has to say "girl" a lot or else some people might get confused.
10. Until the End of Time--it starts off with a Set the Mood intro that is very calming and smooth, if a little too long, then segues into Until the End of Time which could act as Prince's "The Beautiful Ones" cousin. I didn't really like it at first, but it grew on me. This is another example of the intro and song being together on the same track. If the intro was separated, I would probably listen to Until the End of Time more than I do.
11. Losing My Way--easily the worst song on the album. It's cloying and doesn't fit with the tone or subject matter of the other songs. This album is about partying, meeting girls, and falling in love. Now, here comes a socially conscious song about drug abuse? It's not horrible by any means, but I barely listen to it. It features a cameo from Hezekiah Walker.
12. Another Song--a gorgeous, but too sad to listen to on a regular basis, song about screwing up and begging for forgiveness. The ironic thing is that Justin's songs like Cry Me a River and What Goes Around are so unbending in their message of refusing to grant forgiveness you wonder how he can ask forgiveness. He's admitting he's a human who messed up. Well, his girl who hurt him was human as well.

Bottom Line: There are a lot of people who will never forget or let Justin forget he was in a boy band. And I think he poses a little too much in his attempt to shake the boy band image. However, he should be proud that he was a member of NSync. They made a lot of good songs that made people happy for a lot of years. He's an entertainer who did his job and is still doing his job. He has absolutely nothing to apologize for. So he should stop posing and acting like a wannabe thug and wigger. He's just embarrassing himself when he acts that way.

Free Music Review: Loving the sounds from the reigning King of `Dirty Pop'...
Hit: 5 Stars

Some may want to hate on Justin, call him pop trash and deny him the props he deserves, but rest assured that any who pull that are doing so out of pure unbridled jealousy. When one sits back to relish in the musical experience known as `FutureSex/LoveSounds' they are in for a number of surprises, all of which are set to blow the listeners mind.

The first surprise is that this artist is none other than Justin Timberlake, the same blonde haired kid who sang high pitched lead for the boy-band N'Sync a few years back. There is no trace of that teenager anywhere to be found on the thirteen-track disc. In fact, he's so grown up it's hard to really classify this as pop. I guess that's why they coined the phrase `dirty-pop', a style of which Timberlake is the current King (sorry Ne-Yo, you aint got nothin' on Timberlake). The second surprise is that this is not the R&B album you may have expected judging from the success of his debut solo album `Justified'. In fact, Justin has enlisted the help of Producer Timbaland to create an album that surpasses genre classification altogether. There are some R&B laced tracks, some hip-hop influenced numbers, some techno club cuts, some pop vibes and even a jazzed up ballad and every track sounds just as polished and effortless as the previous.

Timberlake starts things off with the title track `FutureSexLoveSound' and he sure sets things off right. The technoesque beats laden with Timberlake's seductive vocals are brilliantly controlled and used to perfection. It's apparent from the very beginning that this is a very different and unexpected experience, but one intriguing enough to demand our attention. Timbaland is in true form here, as he is in the first single `SexyBack' which is in my opinion the song of the year. Who knew that Timberlake had it in him? With an infectious beat, one of the greatest in recent years, some simple yet effectively perverse lyrics and a few well timed F-bombs Timberlake transcended from teenage girl fantasy to well established artist. `SexyBack' will always be remembered as Justin's redefining moment, and we all love his new definition.

Justin finds familiar territory on a few tracks, one in particular being his second single `My Love' which also features rap artist T.I. The beat is brilliantly composed. Timbaland is truly just as responsible as Timberlake for this masterful album. Timberlake hits his famous falsettos here and they are even better than remembered. `What Goes Around' also hits all the right moves with the Oriental guitars to accompany an effortlessly catchy chorus, not to mention one of the best overall music videos I've ever seen...it's a shame that's not included on the CD. `Summer Love' also gives Justin fans something to smile at, this time giving Timberlake the opportunity to spitfire his lyrics to a brutal beat.

And speaking of brutal beats, the hip-hop influenced `Chop Me Up' is brilliantly constructed. Justin slips right into character and is as convincing as can be, his words sliding over the crunchy beat. Three Six Mafia contribute decently, although they are upstaged by the brilliant change in musical arrangement which adds a nice spin to the track. `Sexy Ladies' has a very 80's feel to it, with deep bass lines and high strings giving it a very `funky' feel. `Damn Girl' also carries with it traces of funk with Will.i.am offering his help, but he fails to stack up to Timberlake, which I didn't expect. `Pose' closes the album as a bonus track, and I can understand why it wasn't selected as part of the official album itself. It's carefree and probably the most `Pop' sounding track here but I think because of that fact it comes off a bit immature and doesn't quite mesh with the balance of the album. The inclusion of Snoop was a nice touch, but can't in itself save the track entirely.

`LoveStoned' may very well be the best track here. The beat is catchy as all get out and the lyrics are classic Justin. It's one of these songs that never grows tired and has this infectious way of inducing movement in the listener. `Losing my Way' is Justin's attempt at inspiration, singing about life changing experiences, battling substance abuse and making something of yourself instead of giving into vices. It's decent, but nothing near what he was attempting to accomplish. His two ballads are both great in their own respect, `Until the End of Time' sounding like it was taking straight from a 90's R&B album, but it's `All Over Again' that really delivers the goods, giving us an almost John Mayer feeling, soft and subtle and jazzy in it's own respect with some of Justin's best vocal's to date, beautiful and elegant and memorable to a T.

So, in closing, `FutureSex/LoveSounds' is a fantastic album, that while not perfect is actually very close to it and adds layers to the sensation that is Justin Timberlake, paving the way for him to enter the living room of just about every home, finally transcending the ties of the `Popstar' curse and becoming a musical icon.

Free Music Review: Even better than his first solo album...
Hit: 5 Stars

His first solo album, "Justified", met much success and his follow-up album, "Futuresex/Lovesounds" is even better, with Timberlake feeling his oats and ditching his nice guy persona for a more sensual, adult groove. He still drives the girls crazy and has built an even more solid fan base after numerous appearances on "Saturday Night Live" where, with help from Andy Samberg, he has shown the world he has a great sense of humor, which has earned him more credibility among the young males of the demographic to which he caters.

With help, as always, from Timbaland, and with such guest stars as Three Six Mafia and T.I., Timberlake brings a fine production of rockin' beats, lyrics about sex and heartbreak and a solid album of which most is great material with very little filler. This is one of those few compilations that comes along that has a lot of singles released and no matter how many times they are played ad nauseum on the radio, they are still enjoyable to listen to on your own time.

Below is a track-by-track description with a numeric rating on a scale of one to ten.

Track 1: FutureSex/LoveSound--(8)--a good, heavy-hitting track to start the album off with. Easily danceable, definitely sensual, this showcases Timberlake's new sound, his new persona. It's fresh, it's rich and you'll want to dance right along with it.

Track 2: SexyBack--(8)--the first single from the album. Still has staying power, despite being radio-raped. Allowed the public a sneak peek at the sensuality that Timberlake had newly embraced and let run through all of the tracks on this album.

Track 3: Sexy Ladies--(8)--another track with a good beat that is similar to the beat used in "Futuresex/Lovesound". It's hard to stop yourself from dancing while driving when this is playing in the car.

Track 4: My Love--(7)--an upbeat danceable love song from Timberlake to his lady love. This has also achieved a lot of radioplay but it still just as good after repeat listens. T.I. lends a hand with this track and, just as with the rest of them, we hear a lot of Timbaland on this track as well.

Track 5: LoveStoned/I Think She Knows--(8)--A track to follow in the 'N Sync steps of falling for a girl that he meets in a club. Here, Timberlake starts off with yet another strong, danceable track and leads into one of the many over-a-minute-long interludes he uses on this album.

Track 6: What Goes Around (Comes Around)--(10)--Nice and long with some great beats about a man who's been wronged by his cheating lover who is going to get her just desserts.

Track 7: Chop Me Up--(10)--Another incredible song to follow up the previous incredible song. The beat is amazing, the Three Six Mafia raps are put together very well and this is easily one of the most solid tracks on the album. You will be blasting this when it comes on.

Track 8: Damn Girl--(5)--This track is one of the least liked on the album. It doesn't have the same flow and it doesn't feel like it's put together as tightly.

Track 9: Summer Love--(9)--This is a great song to crank up in the car on a hot summer night while you're cruising along the winding roads of the neighborhood. Great beats once again!

Track 10: Until The End Of Time--(6)--this song sounds like it could have come off of any one of Prince's albums, since it features his signature beat. One of the more down-tempo songs on the album, it still holds its own as a ballad. The album version does not feature Beyonce, as the radio version had.

Track 11: Losing My Way--(7)--a good slow jam about people who need someone to hear their plight because lately, life hasn't been going so well for them.

Track 12: (Another Song) All Over Again--(5)--another forgettable track along the same lines as "Damn Girl". This is another ballad on the album but not very solid.

Free Music Review: With material like this, Justin will be around for a long time!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have to say that I really resisted getting this album when it first came out. I would classify myself as a heavy R&B/Soul music fan but only a casual fan of Mr. Timberlake. I purchased his first album "Justified" when it came out and even though I thought it had some really good songs on it, overall I was dissapointed with the album and felt that it was overrated. Unlike most people, I hated "Sexyback" when I first heard it on the radio and that further caused me to resist buying Futuresex/Lovesounds. Then I saw the video for his second single "My Love" on MTV and I was like "whoa, that song is pretty tight!". I finally broke down and bought the album and I was amazed!

Futuresex/Lovesound is my opinion is miles better than Justified (even though the songs on it are in the same family). It sounds like Justin has actually found himself now as opposed to just trying to break away from his pop image and prove he's an R&B singer (which was what his first album was all about). With the new one, he has more edgy beats more inventive lyrics and more variety. He also shows off his voice more and proves that he is actually a really decent singer! Justin has a wonderful penchent for imitating artists like Michael Jackson and even Prince with his falsetto singing style, vocal improvisations and his eclectic mix of funk, R&B, and Pop. But Justin also has his own style to show off and clearly separates himself from his idols with personalized lyrics, hip-hop collaborations, Timbaland beats and even some rapping. If he continues to be as consistant as this in his future releases, he will be a star that we will see for a long time in the music industry.

Song Reviews: I like every song on the album except the title track "Futuresex/Lovesound" and the first single "Sexyback". The former sounding more like an overlong intro/filler and the ladder...well I just didn't like the digitized voice or the fact that the song was overhyped and overplayed. "My Love" is a great track, catchy and smooth with a nice variety between falsetto and lower register vocals. "Lovestoned" is also a great song. It has a very original style and it's a long song that extends itself almost into a completley different tempo like a mini rhapsody. "What Goes Around" is another song that accomplishes that beat change which keeps it fresh after the 6 minute mark. "Chop Me Up" is a song that demostrates his ability to rap (though he doesn't overdue it). "Damn Girl" is one of my favorite tracks. Being a hugh Prince fan, I was surprised to hear Justin actually doing a Prince-esq song. With lyrics like "Don't need no Maybelline, Cause you're a beauty queen...
Don't need no L'oreal, Cause bitch you're bad as hell", all sung in high falsetto with a few screeching vocal ad libs inbetween, I though I was listening to the sequel to Prince's "Kiss". "Summer Love" is the one song on the album that sounds like a throwback to his NSYNC days. It's not particlarly edgy but it's definetely catchy and radio friendly. "Until The End Of Time" is another Prince like song, right down to the musical composition. This time, he sounds like he's doing the sequel to "Scadalous" by Prince. As you can imagine it's also one of my favorites. In "Loosing My Way" he goes in the other direction, a little homage to Michael Jackson in a nice midtempo choir backed ballad. Towards the end of the song when he adlibs, it will remind you of "Man In The Mirror". All he needed were a few "hee-hee's" and "woo-hoo's" and voila, you've got a great Michael Jackson song! "All Over Again" is Justin's soulful piano backed ballad that's all about showcasing his range and flexibility as a vocalist. Minus two, Futuresex/Lovesounds is a collection of great R&B/Soul songs that you will want to listen to "all over again".
