Free Music Notes for WatershedFree Music Review: Watershed is a very enjoyable listening experience Hit: 5 Stars
KD Lang sounds so good on her tenth studio album Watershed. This is her first self produced album. This disc is a turning point in her career, and that is the reason for the title Watershed. I love the musical and vocal arrangements of these tracks very much. My favorite track is "I Dream Of Spring". Her sensual vocals are beautiful on this love song. I love Greg Leisz who is featured on the steel guitar featured on this track. The other stand out track is "Sunday". This is a tribute to her favorite day of the week. The bass playing by David Piltch on this track is so smooth. "Je Fais La Planche" is a song about how brief life is. The acoustic guitar gives this track a very soothing quality. The banjo playing on "Jealous Dog" gives this track a simple easy going sound. Shadow And The Frame is a pretty song. The piano playing is beautiful on this track. "Once in A While" is a pretty romantic song. "Upstream" is a hopeful song that makes me feel good. "Flame Of The Uninspired" is another sensual sounding track with great background vocals. She sounds so peaceful and effortless singing the track "Coming Home". Watershed is very enjoyable listening experience because of the vocal and musical arrangements.
Free Music Review: KD Lang's illumination shines Hit: 5 Stars
I have been a long time follower and collector of KD's music,
Watershed is the album I find reaching for more than most
cds in my collection. I remember seeing KD sing live in San Diego
at an old ornate acoustical opera house. The range and quality of this soothing voice live
was even more smooth, sharp and resonate then on the album recordings.
Watershed's content is mature, one of zenness, of a higher purpose, but still youthful with feminine
and haunting layerings of magnetic sounds. There is a great use of instruments like the violin throughout.
For the individuals who gave this masterpiece five stars, they get this cattle dog artist.
Lastly, I was in San Francisco visiting on asignment as a photographer and the taxi
driver who picked me up said KD was remarkable and kind and down to earth because
he drove KD around the previous day. This seeps through in watershed. I sure wish that our paths would cross some other day. Maybe I'll just have to see KD again in concert!
Free Music Review: Fabulous, beautiful stuff! Hit: 5 Stars
I hadn't listened to K.D. Lang in probably twenty years. I have her Shadowland and Torch & Twang albums on cassette - that's how long it's been. Found this CD in a Rite-Aid drugstore for a measly $4.99. What is wrong with this picture?! What is wrong with this country and the music industry? This is an absolutely beautiful album in every way - the arrangements, the multi-tracked vocal harmonies (all Lang), the ethereal lyrics and delivery. For $4.99??!! I mean, come on, people. How's a consumate artist like k.d. lang gonna make a living? I'm really not sure this downloading a tune-at-a-time is such a good idea for the people that make the music. I shouldn't complain, I suppose. But this is just a fabulously beautiful album. If you like purty music, BUY IT! YOU'LL LOVE IT! I'm gonna go listen to it again, okay? With headsets, which is always better. I like all the tracks, but the last one, "Jealous Dog," is so cool, with the banjo and piano combination. - Tim Bazzett, author of Pinhead: A Love Story
Free Music Review: kd lang SIMPLY AMAZING Hit: 5 Stars
Finally, a new kd lang album, and one she wrote and produced herself. "Watershed" is like back to the good old days when she was releasing her good music. This reminds me of "All You Can Eat" and "Absolute Torch and Twang", her finest. And it's great to see her writing again with Ben Mink after all these years. It's a beautiful album from an incredible voice. Every time I listen to this CD I like it more and more, it will grow on you. And that's a sign of great music, it's not instant, but takes its time to draw you in and then you're hooked. I love kd lang and this is as good as it gets. It's hard to decide what I'd like to hear next from her, an album of great covers or old standards or more of this same kind. Either way it doesn't matter, as long as we don't have to wait this long again.
Free Music Review: k d Lang is my muse when I write Hit: 5 Stars
I LOVE this new CD---been a while, k.d. ---the deluxe WATERSHED set? I would recommend, too, for the live performances---esp "The Valley" (on the bonus CD). About WATERSHED: There is orchestral composition that we know is her mark---k.d. does something no one else does that is very special. Her voice and diction are perfect as always. Her work is monumental and singular: no one can do what she does.
k.d. Lang creates Beauty for the ear ---she crosses all boundaries with her plaintive and lovely phrasing.
---I think that is what I love about her Magic: k.d.'s music is more than hearing.
