Free Music Notes for WatershedFree Music Review: Beg, steal, borrow tickets to the Watershed concert Hit: 5 Stars
Hearing and seeing this album performed live (and if you are lucky, in an intimate venue as I attended in Portland, OR) makes this album. I wonder if I might not have had the same experience as the 2- star reviewers if I had not witnessed her in person. I am not a country music fan, but her voice and lyrics just keep me coming back. She is a force the likes of which I am speechless to describe. Buy the album, but see her in person as well. I think it will make all the difference. How many other performers touring today receive a standing ovation from the first note coming on-stage?
Free Music Review: Watershed is beautifull and inspiring ~ Hit: 5 Stars
This album is gorgeous. It's like laying on fresh clean linen sheets on the fresh cut grass under a blue Sunday afternoon sky. Musically, very classic sound and style for her, which never tires, Katherine is a magician, and her first production shows she needs no one to interpret her work for her. Kds voice only grows more beautifull as she ages. She's always been a great lyricist as well, however this is brilliant, well thought, but not pretentious, in fact effortlessly real, pure, honest. Favorites are; Coming Home, Thread, Flame of the Uninspired, and Sunday.
Free Music Review: Coming home Hit: 5 Stars
Kd has come back home. That is to write gorgeous songs such as I Dream of Spring and Close Your Eyes with pal Ben Mink.We fans have waited for such a complete album for long.So embark and dream along with the unique Kathryn.Throughout the journey, you will feel like you are in a coffee shop surrounded by country, pop and jazz musicians, all of them trying to accompany this unparallel voice that thrives on lows and ride triumphantly on highs.Bon voyage!
Free Music Review: Flowing Like Water Hit: 5 Stars
Sweet, subtle and introspective. Her expressive voice carries the wind and swirling waters, and her sometimes puzzling lyrics explore philosphical depths of love, inner joy and the essence of existence. This is a very personal cd-uniquely kd, as I guess kd always is, and always has been. Her songs are soothing, moving and fun to sing along to. The background insrumental rythms are smooth and mesmerizing and blend seamlessly with her luscious voice.
Free Music Review: gorgeous voice Hit: 5 Stars
I became a kd lang fan about 20 years ago when she was recording jazzy country western (I thought, stupid me, that she was from Austin TX...). This cd is like her 48th Parallel released about 5 years ago is not much at all like her twangy CW days. Instead, Watershed and 48th, really showcase her amazing vocal range--sultry, smooth, strong, soaring. This cd is well-worth the ticket price. That's she not from Austin really doesn't matter....
