Free Music Notes for K.K.K.K.K.Free Music Review: more perfect popIf you can manage to keep yourself from hitting repeat every time you reach the end of the first track, you will be awed by an album filled with imaginitive sounds, great lyrics and, of course, the all-together wonderful and beautiful voice of japanese born, french by choice chanteuse, kahimi karie. On this, her second full length album, Karie ditches the primarily elctronic sounds of 'Larme de Crocodile' and explores the sounds of kitsch, managing at once to redefine her sound and still remain true to what she always has been. Of course, this is all due to the amazing writers that Karie finds herself. As usual, Karie collaborates with Momus, who's two main contributions are What are you Wearing?, a song that explores the sexaulity, trendiness and insecurity that encircles fashion, and The Symphonies of Beethoven, an electronic exploration of the sexualtiy of the film, 'A Clockwork Orange'. Other standouts include the opening track, '1000 20th Century Chairs', and 'What is Blue?', both having music written by Hirohima Horie of 'Neil and Iraiza'. These tracks are fully orchestrated beauties, as is expected of Horie, who has proved himself a brilliant writing in pieces he has written for his own group. Also, Francoise Cactus pens both 'Qu'est-ce que tu veux?', a typical love song that utilizes Karie's voice well, and 'Kahimi qu telephone' a silly number is which Kahimi phones her love to tell him she misses him, and only manages to hit the phone mid message and then be hung up on. Harmony Korine is quite possibly the most thought provoking song on the album. With music by Tomoki Kanda and words by Momus, Kahimi sings a lounge tune about growing old, selling out and giving up. Finally, Katerine makes his showing with 2 tunes typical of him, 'Kahimi Karie et Moi' and 'Orly-Narita'. Both are very funny if you speak french. This album is not only amazing due to the talent in beauty in each song. It is also a cohesive album. Unlike Karie's debut, 'Larme de Crocodile', this album does not jerk back and forth between the shibuya kei of Yasuharu Konishi, the electronic sound of Coba, the acoustic pop of Katerine and the kitsch of Momus. Instead Kahimi has produced an album in which she has managed to somehow blur the jagged lines between each style, resulting in a smooth listen from beginning to end. An excellent sophomore showing for Karie.
