Free Music Notes for Late RegistrationFree Music Review: Overrated? Maybe, But Sophomre Album Can Back Him Up (4 Stars) Hit: 4 StarsNow I've sat here and read each and every six hundred and fourty something reviews (yes, you read that correct...each and every one...a lot of time on my hands), each ranging from 0 stars up to 10 stars (seeing that amazon only lets you range from 1 to 5). Many people have nothing better to do but toss in their illegitamate reviews to what they think about Kanye West, some have nothing to do with the album. I highly recommend that half of you people get a life. Now thats said, I must be the only person who hasn't said anything about this album, so I'll respectively toss in my two cents on this review.
Kanye West's sophomore effort Late Registration is a slight step up from College Dropout. He still shows his cocky rhymes in most songs, but many listeners can get past that. Production on this album is mostly him, with the help of Just Blaze, Devo Springsteen, Warryn Campbell which works nice in the album. "Touch The Sky" is one with loud horns that can make it enjoyable, with the help of Lupe Fiasco with come of the vocals. Songs like "Crack Music" (Game's verse was removed if you haven't figured out already) and "Hear Dem Say" shows that Kanye's lyrics about issues in urban life, as if he shows love for the poverity families (Reviewer L. Perry was one of the few to nail the bullseye on the reivew). Kanye's cocky rhymes can also play an annoying part on the CD, as heard in the origonal version of "Diamonds (From Sierra Leone)" and in his last verse on the song "Gone". For the haters (including those who gave him one star) he has a song dedicated to you called "Bring Me Down" saying "There'll always be haters, that's the way it is
Hater n****z marry hater b*****s and have hater kids..." He has a touching song dedicated to his mom on the track "Mama" which may change some people's opinions on him only caring about himself. "Gold Digger" would have been a good song for me, but it can join the list hits that got played into the ground curteosy of the radio and BET.
Guest wise are mostly good. The best (and most suprising) is Nas on the song "We Major" with the help of Really Doe. Other guests are Common, Pall Wall, GLC, Consequence, Jay-Z, Cam'ron, and more. Jay-Z comes and spits a verse on the remix of "Diamonds are Forever (From Sierra Leone)" which makes it sound a little better than the origonal. Common who had a spectacular verse on The College Dropout spits a soft, more something we're used to hear from him, verse on the song "On My Way Home" just by himself.
Many people may not know this fact, but Kanye also recycles verses that he thinks we haven't heard on some mixtapes hes been involved in. Portions of "Bring Me Down" can be heard on Consequence's "Wack N****z" that came out a year before this album. Songs from College Dropout suffered this problem also. Also since he's hit stardom, he thinks that he can talk more about smoking and drinking on some songs than others such as "Addiction", "Celebration" (a lack luster song), and "Really Doe". The skits can be somewhat entertaining (he ran that Bernie Mac ordeal into the ground last album), with a made up faternity "Broke Phi Broke".
Also (not that this really matters): People who are boo-hooing about Kanye being a racist, speaking on poverity in african-american neighborhoods and whatnot, needs to grow up. Many rappers (such as Common) speak the same topic as Kanye (international and local), but you don' go bash them for rhyming about that, speaking their mind. I swear the reviews on this album is quite entertaining. Also for you Kanye riders here, "Addiction" is not all that good as people claim it is, that actually one of the worst tracks on the album.
Overall, I really wouldn't call this a sophomore jinx. It maybe a level higher than his first one, but it suffers minor flaws. It may be a classic album to some people, it may suck to others, for me it holds it's own. Just about everybody has either picked this album up or atleast heard it. If you haven't heard it, I recommend that you give it a listen or buy it used. He might be overrated to half the world, but some parts of this album backs that theory up. My thoughts may not change your views on Kanye West and for what he is, but if you want an honest and thorough opinion/review on his album, you also might want to check deeper in the reviews.

Free Music Review: awesome Hit: 5 Starsconsistantly great album! Not as good as the first but then again i wasn't expecting it to be. You can tell that Kanye West has progressed since his last album with a few of the tracks and he does another track for his momma, which is really sweet. Love it!

Free Music Review: B BOY Hit: 5 StarsThis is one of the best hands down. There is another group that you would like named Karu. One track that you heads need to hear is a white label edit on vinyl by Karu featuring Common called "Faces on the Mural". This is deep house at it's finest with the ripe vocals of Common. You guys should check out Karu's "Amazing Place" CD for some great deep jazzy house & trip-hop. Wow! I can't believe it. I just bought the Illform "Next Level Fusion" & Quentin's Ladder "Delusion" on here and realized Quentin Allen produced all these including Karu "Amazing Place". Don't be fooled! This definitely is not Quentin's first CD. It is the third CD and maybe the best. People need to check out this music. The jazz & hip-hop influences are all there and come together nicely. My favorite track is "Out to Get Mine" Hot EPMD vocal snippet. Another great track is "Sketch the Play". You'll here a great texture of sounds too. Rhodes & acoustic pianos, synths, deep basslines, great vocal samples, tight house beats, awesome jazz solos and nice chords. The Karu sound is like deep house by Hanna, Office Gossip, Miguel Miggs, and Chuck Love. If you want to here a great producer at work, get Quentin Allen latest offering "Amazing Place".
Free Music Review: i knew i was gon' see you again!!! Hit: 5 Starsthis cd is a masterpiece!!! the way it tells a story when you listen to from begining to end is amazing!!! kanye west is a lyrical genius. next to Mr.President Jay-Z he is the best tha ROC has to offer.
Free Music Review: No Sophomore Slump in herre Hit: 4 StarsKanye does it again. The beats on this sophomore disc are not only HOT, but innovative. And his rhymes...I'm going to say this about his rhymes. Kanye is the best lyricist on the Roc besides President Hova himself Jay-Z. Kanye's lyrics are clever, insightful, and plain ole FIRE. The skits are funny the first two times you hear them, but like the interludes on the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill you get tired of them on repeat listening.
So his beats are HOT and his lyrics are FIRE, you wanna know which tracks are a combination of both right?
1. Wake Up Mr. West (intro)
2. Heard 'Em Say featuring Adam Levine of Maroon 5 HOT
3. Touch The Sky featuring Lupe Fiasco HOT
4. Gold Digger featuring Jamie Foxx HOT
5. Skit #1
6. Drive Slow featuring Paul Wall & GLC
7. My Way Home featuring Common
8. Crack Music featuring Game
9. Roses HOT
10. Bring Me Down featuring Brandy
11. Addiction warm
12. Skit #2
13. Diamonds From Sierra Leone (Remix) featuring Jay-Z HOT
14. Hey Mama HOT
15. Skit #3
16. We Major featuring Nas & Really Doe HOT
17. Celebration
18. Skit #4
19. Gone featuring Consequence & Cam'Ron
20. **BONUS TRACK**Diamonds From Sierra Leone
21. **HIDDEN TRACK** Late
So that's out 6 of 16 tracks that are HOT and 1 warm. The rest of the tracks are ok, but I can't "heat them". :P
