Free Music Notes for HourglassFree Music Review: Beautiful voice, great arrangements Hit: 5 Stars
I first heard of Kate Rusby on Fiona Richie's Thistle and Shamrock, where she played "Drowned Lovers". I promptly searched and found this cd. Her voice and style are very striking. The song selection is varied, with "Drowned Lovers" being my favorite. The initial track "Sir Eglamore" is a fun song you'll find yourself humming throughout the day. I'm looking forward to hearing more of Kate Rusby in the new Poozies release, "Infinite Blue".
Free Music Review: kate is beautiful in every way . . . Hit: 5 Stars
Hourglass is one of my favorite cds- i never tire of the songs, particularly "drowned lovers"- Look for her newest release, "Sleepless"- it's just as good and has a great cover of Iris Dement's "our town" (i'm not sure when it's coming out in the states). Kate's voice is simple and pure, as is the instrumentation, but it's so enjoyable. I had the pleasure of seeing her live- if she tours the states soon, don't miss her!
Free Music Review: An artist that you cannot get enough of! Hit: 5 Stars
I was in a bookstore and heard this beautiful, sad, lovely music and had to find out who it was. I had never heard of Kate Rusby but bought "Hourglass" and listened to it in the car and then drove back and bought "Sleepless" also. Since then both cds have not left my player. I recommend this highly to any lover or potential lover of folk music. Such sweet sadness and warmth is infrequently discovered.
Free Music Review: Simply the best CD I've bought in years. Hit: 5 Stars
This is an incredible recording from a wonderful young artist. I heard Rusby on the Thistle and Shamrock radio show and knew I had to find her CDs. Since buying them, they have not left my CD player. I would highly reccommend this CD, and her second release - Sleepless - to any fans of true folk music. You will not be disappointed.
Free Music Review: Haunting, powerful Hit: 5 Stars
Hourglass is one of the most moving, beautiful CDs I've heard in a long time. Check out "I Am Streteched On Your Grave" and "Annan Waters" to see what I mean. Rusby is in the same league as June Tabor and Mary Black. I look forward to hearing more great music from her in the future.
