Free Music Review: A tad overproduced but Kate's writing is still good...

That sums it right up...I like this record, Kate's first full-length...but the production renders it a bit anonymous, making it sound bland at times and like numerous others, like Sara Bareilles...luckily for Kate, she has a good-to-great voice that reminds me at times of Kelly Clarkson, others like Michelle Branch, and her writing is quite solid..."I Get It" is my fave song on the record...it had good lyrics and a knock-em-dead powerpop chorus that had me always hitting repeat...
Luckily, as well, there are 3 acoustic demo bonus tracks on the record which shows that Kate has natural talent that belies the slick production, and being she's only 21 and a natural, she will only progress impressively as an artist and make records more distinctively in future years...
Kate has TONS of potential to make her masterpiece..."Can't Look Away" isn't it, but she's getting there...

Kate Voegele is currently on the CW's "One Tree Hill." After watching a few episodes with her songs featured in them, I finally decided to buy her CD.
Her music is heart-felt, memorable, and upbeat! Assuming you have not heard her music, the best way to compare is thinking of Shakira and Michelle Branch combining their vocals! Kate's voice is fresh and naturally, her lyrics are thoughtful.
Kate has the potential to continue creating music and gathering an audience. She is quite natural as a performer on "One Tree Hill," and her music further justifies this matter. The hardest thing about listening to her music for the first time is NOT pressing the "restart" button after each song.

Kate Voegele is young (only 21) but her songs are amazingly written and she has a powerful voice. "No Good", "Only Fooling Myself" and "Kindly Unspoken" are my favorite songs on the CD, but there isn't a single one that I don't like or that I skip by when listening. I'm sure Kate is going to become extremely popular in the next year!
By the way, I saw one of her shows recently and not only is her performance fantastic but she talked to every one of her fans after the show and signed autographs. We talked to her for almost 15 minutes because she was so friendly and outgoing!

I've been listening to Kate for a while now and I am so happy that her music is getting out to others. She writes, plays and sings beautifully and as some of the others mentioned is amazing live. I highly recommend this album if you're looking for catchy music with heart and soul.
