Free Music Notes for Katharine McPheeFree Music Review: Best New Album I've heard in years! Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this album because I enjoyed Katharine's version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" on AI5. I was mentally all ready to enjoy her new single, "Over It", and perhaps one or two others. But, imagine my surprise, and pleasure, to find that almost every single track on it is enjoyable and wonderful to listen to. I so rarely find that in new albums these days! The featured song, "Over It" is excellent, but others, like "Home", "Love Story", "Dangerous", "Ordinary World", and "Open Toes" all are great! One easily finds oneself getting lost in the mellowness of her voice during the ballads, and yet the Pop & Dance tunes get your toes tapping virtually on their own. If this is only her "Debut", then Katharine McPhee may indeed be one of the up & coming Musical Super-Stars of our time!
Kudos & Props to you, Katharine!!
Free Music Review: Love it! Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this CD with apprehension. I wasn't sure what to expect with an album cover like that.
At first listen, I'll admit, I was underwhelmed. But the more and more I listen, but more I just can't stop listening.
My favorite tracks are: Love Story, Over It, Each Other, Not Ur Girl, Home, Ordinary World, Better Off Alone, Neglected, and Everywhere I Go.
I do like Open Toes, but not the lyrics. Dangerous is good, but kinda 80's. And Do What You Do is a good, funky song.
Katharine has a great instrument in her voice. It's very clean and assured. The high-register whine that she had on AI seems to have been cured (thank God!!). While still not as powerful as Mariah or Whitney, her mid-range can match them note for note. And her low-range is richer than Mariah's.
Free Music Review: A Proud Fan! Hit: 5 Stars
Katharine is the type of girl you can expect anything. This album speaks for itself. It was totally a surprise, and i must say I LOVED IT!
Each songs brings you a different feeling. It changes from Better Off Alone style, to Do What You Do or Open Toes. It makes you dance, it makes you think. It's totally awesome!
She proved she can do it, and she didn't follow the line of what everyone thought she'd do. She surprised us. She brought movement, dance and feeling, together with pretty good vocals.
She made A LOT of people, Proud. She made me proud. I'm her fan since the beginning of American Idol... I've seen her rising... I'm seeing it now. I'll stick to her 'till the end.
This album is just AMAZING! It totally deserves 5 stars! 10, if possible.
Kat's the best!
:D
Free Music Review: NOT TOO BAD....KATHARINE! Hit: 5 Stars
KATHARINE MCPHEE will be around for awhile....thats obvious... Her debut disc, though it's obvious it was done quickly... obvious on the cover art and liner notes....which contain no lyrics, minimal pictures, etc....the disc still isn't that bad.
While we all might have expected a different disc from Kat... this one isn't too bad.... there are some tracks that compliment her voice well...like "Home" and "Ordinary World"...while others channel Christina Aguilera's voice and Mariah Carey's luster...like "Love Story", "Over It", and "Open Toes"...then to top it all off you've got a little Beyonce' like vocal work on tracks like "Everywhere I Go" and "Each Other".
While "KATHARINE MCPHEE" could be a better debut, it is still a solid one. I would recommend this CD.
Free Music Review: Do your homework Hit: 5 Stars
For those reviewers who choose to comment on a record album and the truly intricate and technical process of production, my advice to you is to do your homework first. Katharine McPhee's album was produced by the most prominent, talented multiple-Grammy winners in existence today. One fact is that throughout, there are NO backup singers used on the recording. It is painfully obvious that you do not have an ear for music, because the vocals are done by vocal layering and harmonization by the artist only. Inexperienced music listeners and reviewers refer to the term "overproduced" because it sounds informed. In this case it is untrue. The album is impeccably produced throughout and the vocals are pitch perfect. The entire album is a masterpiece. Relax, you just might enjoy it.
