When Kathy Griffin was on "Suddenly Susan", i always felt she stole the scenes. She was hilarious! Her quick wit and confident delivery worked will in that show. So, her first impression on me was very positive, and first impressions die hard.
When i got this CD, i expecting to die laughing with some creative "did you ever notice?" type humor. But KG isn't that kind of comedian. She isn't looking to be clever. Rather, she's looking to belittle everyone and everything. She cuts down her mom, Oprah, her boyfriends, other celebrities. And the cutdowns aren't even creative. For example, she makes fun of her 80 year old mom for watching TV, drinking box wine, and trying to have a conversation with her daughter (KG). KG cuts down her mom because she uses lingo she learned from television. I get the feeling that she'd cut down her mom if she used lingo from the 1960s. In fact, there isn't a single way her mom could behave without KG using her as the but of her jokes. The same is true for Oprah and her boyfriend. She mocks her boyfriend because he asks her advice about what to wear to one of KG's events. For me, the actions she's mocking from the people in her life weren't even funny, they were just normal everyday actions of everyday people.
If you like catty, snide, "everyone's a clueless idiot" type mocking, this is the CD for you. To me, it felt like someone recorded the Queen Bee from the cool high school group of mean girls.
