Free Music Notes for For Your Consideration

Free Music Review: Catty, mean-spirited, hostile. For D-List fans only.
Hit: 1 Stars

When Kathy Griffin was on "Suddenly Susan", i always felt she stole the scenes. She was hilarious! Her quick wit and confident delivery worked will in that show. So, her first impression on me was very positive, and first impressions die hard.

When i got this CD, i expecting to die laughing with some creative "did you ever notice?" type humor. But KG isn't that kind of comedian. She isn't looking to be clever. Rather, she's looking to belittle everyone and everything. She cuts down her mom, Oprah, her boyfriends, other celebrities. And the cutdowns aren't even creative. For example, she makes fun of her 80 year old mom for watching TV, drinking box wine, and trying to have a conversation with her daughter (KG). KG cuts down her mom because she uses lingo she learned from television. I get the feeling that she'd cut down her mom if she used lingo from the 1960s. In fact, there isn't a single way her mom could behave without KG using her as the but of her jokes. The same is true for Oprah and her boyfriend. She mocks her boyfriend because he asks her advice about what to wear to one of KG's events. For me, the actions she's mocking from the people in her life weren't even funny, they were just normal everyday actions of everyday people.
If you like catty, snide, "everyone's a clueless idiot" type mocking, this is the CD for you. To me, it felt like someone recorded the Queen Bee from the cool high school group of mean girls.

Free Music Review: Where's the substance?
Hit: 1 Stars

There's a perfectly good reason why Kathy Griffin is on the D-list. I listened to this album twice and I am astounded at the lack of genuine comedy substance. Mocking celebrities is fine - all comedians do it, but for an entire hour?

If you pay attention you'll notice that Kathy goes after all the people who made it big time: Oprah, Steven Spielberg and yes, The Osmonds. These are people who have actually contributed something to the world, whether you like them or not.

What has Kathy given us? Celebrity bashing while she sits on the bottom of the list?
She knows how to work a crowd,I'll give her that, but then again so did Hitler.

Listen folks, here's the deal: This is not comedy. This is verbal diarrhea. If you want to listen to real comediennes, get a hold of Maria Bamford, Kathleen Madigan or Lisa Lampanelli and avoid this hollow rubbish.

Free Music Review: Not too swift
Hit: 1 Stars

What I got out of this album is the awareness of someone who can do comedy and can work with an audience. What is really lacking is substance. Her main targets to mock are Oprah Winfrey and The Osmonds. I guess her mental clarity can only go so far. Some comics do mock Oprah and the Osmonds, but they don't make forty and fifty minutes out of it....
