Free Music Notes for One of the BoysFree Music Review: One Of The Boys= Best album ever! Hit: 5 Stars
Katy Perry is a great new artist with a lot of creativity and passion in her songs.
This is how I would rate each song;
1. One Of The Boys- great start off, very catchy. 5/5
2. I Kissed A Girl- major stardom for Katy. Who would ever think of a title like this? 5/5
3. Waking Up In Vegas- A great song that would make you wanna get up and dance. 5/5
4. Thinking Of You- Great ballad. I think the lyrics are just beautiful, now this is what I call "creativity" 5/5
5. Mannequin- My least favorite off the album. That's all. 1/5
6. Ur So Gay- A very fun song to sing along with, but I was horrified at the last lyric. 3/5
7. Hot N Cold- The best song off the album and my personal favorite. 5/5
8. If You Can Afford Me- Another favorite of mine. 5/5
9. Lost- This song is very beautiful, but I find this one a filler. 3/5
10. Self Inflicted- This song is ok, but not the best. 4/5
11. I'm Still Breathing- I find this song similar to Thinking Of You for some reason but overal another filler. 1/5
12. Fingerprints- Great way to end the album. 3/5

Free Music Review: It sounds like the girl is a bit confused.... Hit: 5 Stars
...but somehow you get the idea that it's all in fun. This pop/rock recording makes for a fine debut. Katy does seem to have a bit of gender dysphoria...she kisses girls when drunk [and enjoys it], sometimes she feels like "one of the boys", and "ur so gay" and "hot n cold" depict her boyfriend has having some confusion of his own {PMS, indeed}. The lyrics, though are clean...well, there is a line in "if you can afford me" about not being a piece of a**...and I, at least, was left with the impression that she doesn't really mean it, and is just having a good time with us. "i kissed a girl" is not only not offensive, it's my favorite song on the album...really catchy.
Katy is a pretty girl, with a clear, strong, voice...she should go far. The album is well recorded, and presented, with great artwork. The recording may be a bit more "rock" than I like, but only a bit. She manages to take themes which some could use to gross us out, and make a real "feel good" album...that's an accomplishment, right there. You go, girl...
Addendum: I liked it when I first got it, but this is a record that actually IMPROVES with repeated listening...Very high recommendation. Six stars, at least.
Free Music Review: Straight up fun! Hit: 5 Stars
This album is not going to win a Grammy for album of the year, but I think it is going to be my album of the summer. It is full of really fun songs. Katy Perry's voice is as unique as the songs that she sings. It's an all around good album to load on the iPod and take with you everywhere.
Don't miss... I Kissed a Girl, Waking Up In Vegas, and Ur So Gay, Hot N Cold

Free Music Review: One of the Joys Hit: 5 Stars
Katy's a leggy brunette with car loads of sass. Pop lures at the hip, this songstress throws out melodic hooks that could catch even the coldest, meanest shark in the waters. Catchy songs, great face, cheeky lyrics. It's a winning formula. This album is a veritable pop masterpiece, and not just the hits, which are all war cries of our schizophrenic, gender confused cyber era. The other tunes slowly emerge as gems too: there's the pretty-in-pink yearning of "Manequin" with its swooning bridge, a calm before another storm, or the heavy drama of the surprisingly affecting "I'm Still Breathing." The nuances are legion. Most pop is by definition disposable. Not in Perry's case, however, as she wades through a wasteland of wooden, deficient Cali beauzos with wit and humor, staking a claim as our dysfunctional nation's best looking, smartest twenty-nothing. She's a spokeswoman, a goddess, a ham -- see the very funny video for "Hot N Cold." She can keep the cherry chapstick though: that stuff is just plain nasty. Thank the Lord she didn't stick with speaking in tongues. Thanks for going all secular on us Miss Perry.
Free Music Review: Very Entertaining Song Lyrics Hit: 5 Stars
I have a rule for buying CDS: I have to like at least four of the songs to make it worth my while...I took a chance and bought this after hearing only two of the songs played on the radio, but it turns out that I like almost every song.
There are a couple where she sings with a very high yet soft voice that I thought was kind of boring, but I enjoyed her vocals the rest of the time. Her style reminds me of the Go-Gos Beauty and the Beat, and Thompson Twins. (Yeah, I am an an 80s fan).
The lyrics are hysterical; she's very good at telling stories, and even though you might be tempted to think she is exagerating, I could relate to a lot of the scenarios she describes.
I love ALL KINDS of music - I have very eclectic tastes, but I have to say it was refreshing to hear a female vocalist who didn't create another hip-hop album or a whiny alternative album (you know, the ones where every single song is directed to some guy).
