This British trio debuts with this sublime album of melancholy pop reminiscent of Coldplay, Travis and U2, but unlike those bands, Keane perform without guitars. Their stately, piano-based songs are masterfully constructed with memorable hooks and soaring choruses, the musicianship is first-rate, and Tom Chaplin's swoon-worthy vocals are a wonder to behold, particularly when he breaks into a gorgeous falsetto. 5/17/2004 -KEXP.org - Don Yates
