Free Music Notes for Defying GravityFree Music Review: Keith Urban has out done himself on new cd...FANTASTIC!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Being a huge Keith Urban fan I could not wait to get this album and listem too it. Keith always has new inventive ways of pulling you in to his songs and once again I was not disappointed!! This album is aussome and amazing!! Every song tells a story and lets you in a little more on where Keith is in his life right now. He is in such a great place and it is so good to hear how happy and joyful he is now!! Now dont think this is not a rockin album filled with layers of electrifying guitar work because it is all of that and more!! Keith has out done himself on this album...personal fave is "Till Summer Comes Around." It will be a huge hit for Urban and a concert fave! There is something so haunting and mysterious about that song. "If Ever I Could Love" is another great song...there are so many sounds and feelings to this song. It has a Celtic/Irish sound to it...truly a super listen. "Kiss A Girl" and "My Heart Is Open"...there are too many to mention but really all great. Everyone please get a copy of this new album. The best of the year! Keith thanks for opening up your heart and sharing with us once again!
Free Music Review: Pure Pleasure Hit: 5 Stars
This New Zealand born guitarist, singer, song writer started his carreer in Brisbane Australia to then move to Nashville with a single bag of clothes and only his guitar on his back. Defying Gravity is considered by many critics as Urban's best produced album that he has put out to date.
This reviewer agrees whole heartedly.
We all have at least a little romance in us and Defying Gravity spills forth pure heart in every song.
Keith Urban's rise in Nashville is every country musician's dream. It is known when he was trying to find work, other musicians would let Keith sleep on their couches', until he landed a job as a studio musician as he can play: guitar, banjo, bass guitar, mandoline, piano, bouzouki and drums. The man's voice too, is melodic and perfect for any love song.
Defying gravity, released in 2009, is full of love songs - and all of them are a work of pure art.
My roomate, who doesn't necessarily like country music, commented, this CD is a "pleasure" to sit back and enjoy.
I agree without reservation.
Free Music Review: Keith's Best Hit: 5 Stars
I love this album. There are so many wonderful songs on it. I listen to it at least twice a day some times 3 times a day at work. It's in my car CD player and it runs when ever I'm in the car and I do not have to skip songs to get to the best one because they all are the best.
Everyone knows "Sweet Thing" and how up beat and happy it it but another along that same vain is "Why's it feel so long" I love the beat, it makes me tap my foot and sing along. Some more favorites are "I'm In" and "Kiss a Girl", again I just want to sing along to these. The music and lyrics are perfect!
You have to hear "If ever I could love" it's wonderful and "Thank you" makes me want to play it to my love and sing along with it to him.
This is one album you want in your collection. It doesn't matter if you're a Keith Urban fan or not. You'll just love the music. I just recently discovered Keith as I'm new to County but he is already one of my favorite performers.
Free Music Review: A Unique Masterpiece Hit: 5 Stars
Keith Urban is an artist like no other. I have been a fan for over 5 years and I would have to say that this may be my favorite of all his cds. Each song has its own life and it would be a shame to skip even one on the entire album. Its practically impossible not to get up and dance to songs like Im In and Kiss a Girl. Til' Summer Comes Around is seriously chill inducing and Thank You, Keith's heartfelt song to wife Nicole, brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it. I've found my future wedding song in the gorgeous, Only You Can Love Me This Way and can't help but song along to the upbeat Hit The Ground Runnin'.
Keith's work on this cd proves that he is an artist who is not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve and that fact makes this cd a soul-bearing masterpiece. Its impossible to listen to this cd and not become a lifelong fan. I've had this cd in my stereo since I bought it last year and play it almost every day--I would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat.
Free Music Review: Keith continues to amaze and delight! Hit: 5 Stars
I'm not a big country fan, but have been greatly impressed by Keith's previous two albums. So much mainstream pop/rock music these days is either some over-produced mediocre "young hottie" or low-fi AAA, so whenever I hear something well written, produced and performed, I buy it. That is usually something that sells less than 100k CD's. I heard the previews of Defying Gravity and wasn't too impressed. Heard his duet with Kris Allen "Kiss a Girl" on the Idol finale and was VERY impressed! Bought the CD and love it! Read his bio recently and saw he played in both C&W bands and "West Coast" rock bands in Australia, so his partnership with Dann Huff makes sense (ex-rock band [Giant, White Heart]/studio guitarist turned Nashville producer) melding the two genres. Keith's relaxed vocals and stage presence are only matched by his guitar virtuoso and songwriting skills. Very FM radio friendly music, expect it to be on the charts for two years, until his next release. Buy this CD!
