Free Music Review: Introduction to The Thunder from Down Under Hit: 4 Stars
Keith Urban (1991) Sans the mullet, it is still a great cd. There's an odd mix on the cd of country and pop music. Urban's voice is young , but still very infectious and his guitar skills are better than most artist with more experience. This cd will have you humming right along with "I Never Work On A Sunday;" thinking of a young Dan Fogelberg while listening to "Arms of Mary" "Yesterday" or "The River" and smiling because you know he's going to make an impact in country music with songs like "Clutterbilly" or "What Love Is That Way." It's kind of odd to write a review for something this old, yet there are probably many Urban fans who have not listened to this cd. BUY the cd, and enjoy a very young and talented Keith Urban. My personal favorite song on this cd is "Without You," the vocals are hot, the guitar is even hotter and it's Keith--need I say more.
Free Music Review: Early Urban shows roots Hit: 4 Stars
Once you get past the hair to the music you will enjoy this disc if you like Keith Urban. Although the production is thin compared to today's standards, the CD is good. Some of the tunes such as "Only You", could easily be re-recorded and included on a current collection. Four of the cuts were hits in Australia. This would make a good addition for any Keith Urban fan, but be aware, his voice has improved and he has grown as an artist since this effort.
Free Music Review: early prediction of immense talent Hit: 4 Stars
I have followed closly all the current stuff and this early cd from OZ really shows his early voice and beginings of KU. I listened to it while reading the Jeff Apter book (ignoring the some inaccuracies) and it stays in my cd rack.
