Free Music Notes for Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy ThingFree Music Review: Wonderful! Hit: 5 Stars
As a big fan of Keith Urban, I was eagerly anticipating the release of this CD. On the first listening, I thought that there was too much loud background music on some of the tracks. My favorite music by Keith is that in which he is singing with the accompanying strings or piano serving as a "gentle" backdrop for his beautiful voice. Having said that, I have to admit that I really enjoy his music that features a rollicking string backup, e.g., Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me and Days Go By. So, there you go. I have to say that I like everything that he releases! On the second listening, I got more accustomed to the louder accompanying music on some of the songs. The louder music is sometimes tacked onto the last few verses. Several of the songs were simply perfect, e.g., Stupid Boy, Tu Compania, Got it Right This Time - these songs seem to feature his singing first and foremost rather than the accompanying music. The song Faster Car is great, too. He is such a talented musician - singer, songwriter, guitar player, producer. The works. By the third listening go round, I was absolutely hooked and singing along! I'm already thinking to myself that I have several friends that are going to receive this CD as a Christmas surprise! Indeed, I have already purchased one as a Happy Thanksgiving gift for a girlfriend that I will be visiting over the upcoming holidays. She and I had attended a Keith Urban concert a year ago. If you ever get an opportunity to see him in concert, do it! I've been an avid fan ever since. I really do appreciate the fact that he continues to want to share his musical talent and songwriting gift with us. This CD was worth the two year wait!!(since his last one)
Free Music Review: I LOVE IT! LOVE, PAIN and the whole crazy thing is great! Hit: 5 Stars
I've listened to Be Here every day for the past two years and am not tired of it yet so I was unsure how Keith could possibly top that album. I shouldn't have even doubted he could. As a citizen of Monkeyville, I got my presale order of Love, Pain, and the whole crazy thing the Saturday before it was released so I've probably listened to it 15-20 times. Each time I hear something new. There were a couple tracks that on first listening I was unsure I was going to like, but now, after listening a few times, I absolutely love them all. On this album, Keith just made music, great music. He didn't concern himself with genre so it's got something everyone will love. I don't know how it can be classified as any specific genre - it's just great music. I could listen to him playing his guitar forever and this album satisfies in that respect as well. I can't wait to hear these songs in concert. Some of my favorites are: I Told You So, Shine, Won't Let You Down, Stupid Boy, and Used To The Pain, although I like all the rest, too. After a song finishes I think, Oh, I want to listen to that one again, but then the next one starts and I think, but I love this one, too so I have to listen to this, then I'll go back. Before I realize it, I've been through the whole album and then just start again. I have to buy three copies of Keith's cd's as they never leave my CD players at home, in the car, and at work. Now that I have an I-Pod, I downloaded it from iTunes as well. I am so looking forward to the 2007 Tour. If you've never been to a Keith Urban concert - put it on your to-do list. It's an experience you won't ever forget and one you'll want to repeat as often as possible.
Free Music Review: KU takes risks that pay off! Hit: 5 Stars
I was so excited about the release of this album and I haven't been disappointed.I bought this album on Saturday (in Australia) and every night since I have woken up in the middle of the night with the lyrics running through my head. That's how I know that this album will mean as much to me as Golden Road and Be Here, do. Perhaps this sounds a bit corny but you get a real sense that Keith Urban is growing both as a person and as an artist - there is an infectious energy to this album that I find really exciting. KU is such an impressive live artist, if you get the opportunity to see him perform live, it will change the way you see every concert after that. He completely blew away Sydney fans last tour - the reason I mention this is because is that sense of being transported away to a place where you can imagine a better life, that this album also communicates.
There is definitely a change in focus - while there is still the strong guitar driven songs and optimistic, expansive hits, this is a more personal creation from Urban.
Songs that immediately stand out at this early stage are Shine, I told you so and Stupid Boy. Unfortunately in Australia, we didn't get Raise the Barn, as it is about Hurricane Katrina, perhaps it wasn't deemed culturally significant - this was my only disappointment.
PS: Just a quick comment, don't think it was necessary or appropriate for Amazon's reviewer to call KU "ex-junkie" - that's a really loaded, judgemental and inaccurate comment.
Anyway!!!
Well Done Keith - Get well, We love you.
Free Music Review: not enough Hit: 5 Stars
The only reason that I give this album 5 stars is because there is not anymore stars to give it. Let me tell you, this album is for anyone as far as pop, country, and rock because it has it all. Here are the songs:
1.) once in a lifetime- great song, first single from the album
2.) shine- I like this song, if he was around in the 80's or early 90's, it would be a rock single I bet
3.) I told you so- great lyrics and music
4.) can't stop loving you- this song with one listen, I have lumps in my throat
5.) won't let you down- great song and lyics
6.) faster car- song is very rockin' up beat
7.) stupid boy- my favorite of the album..i love it twords then end of the song when he really kicks in on the guitar. I heard a version of this from Sarah Buxton and it sucked, Keith done it alot better
8.) raise the bard with Ronnie Dunn from Brooks and Dunn- ver good talent on this song. I wish he could do a duet with rascal flatts or Billy Ray Cyrus. That would be awesome
9.) let it out- great song and lyrics
10.) God made woman- this song is for my wife, I am glad God made woman. great lyrics
11.) your company- different song, but good song
12.) everybody - great music and lyrics
Free Music Review: Love, Pain, and the great tapestry of life and music Hit: 5 Stars
This highly anticipated release by country music's innovator, Keith Urban takes this artist's previous country rock blend and pushes the envelope of the genre even further. This album is the next step blending country, rock and Beatlesque pop in one gorgeous aural tapestry of music that proves country singers can have not only heart but soul. At first listen to the first single, Once in a Lifetime, this CD would seem to reflect the joy of love but underneath there is also the current of pain and regret that proves that nothing in life is perfect and that love can both lift you up and break your heart.
Highlights are Shine, the amazingly fun and funky Faster Car, the aching regret of Stupid Boy,the gorgeous Won't Let You Down and the joyous hoedown of Raise the Barn which is a valentine to the American south in need from an Australian boy who has made Nashville his home. There is not a disappointing track on here. Even God Made Woman with its Stones Can't Always Get What You Want like choral opening is a bit of over the top fun.
This CD is one that should appeal to music lovers and is sure to open up a new audience for Keith's music while keeping him in the forefront of country music as a true innovator and artist.
