Free Music Review: The Perfect Pop/Rock Album

This album has it all, big anthemic radio-friendly smashes, Dark, emotional and personal ballads and more catchy hooks than you can ever wish for! I was already a fan of Kelly Clarkson and was anticipating the release of Breakaway months in advance and even I couldn't have imagined anything this good. It's most definately one of those albums you can leave on and not skip any tracks and still find yourself singing along to every single track.
1. Breakaway - The opener, co-written by Avril Lavigne is anthemic and to be honest better live when the crowd sing it back but still a nice easy opener if a little decieving. Personally my least favorite on the album. 7/10
2. Since U Been Gone - Does this need any explanation? really? If Breakaway is the perfect pop/rock album, Since U Been Gone is the perfect pop/rock song. 10/10
3. Behind These Hazel Eyes - One of my personal favorites on the album. Dark, angry, emotional but still radio-friendly. Very melodic and killer bridges topped of with stellar vocals to rival Christina/Mariah etc. 10/10
4. Because Of You - The first ballad on the album, the lyrics are unbelievable when you think she was only 16 when she wrote this. The strings really make this song for me twinned with again outstanding vocals. 9/10
5. Gone - Very upbeat, used as the opener on the Addicted Tour and it really gets the crowd going. Very strong vocals throughout with a driving beat. 8/10
6. Addicted - A firm favorite among fans. "Haunting" sound and lyrics, powerful vocals and great control make this a standout track, if that's possible on this album! 8/10
7. Where Is Your Heart - Things really slow down here, soft vocals and piano that build up into powerhouse ballad. 8/10
8. Walk Away - Sassy, sexy, slinky single material, which was proven. The guitar riff sets the tone for the verses and kelly's voice takes over in the chorus. 9/10
9. You Found Me - A really uplifting, chilled out song once again kelly delivers with the vocals. 8/10
10. I Hate Myself For Losing You - Not a song about an ex...a song about family. Very emotional and brutally honest lyrics show how talented Clarkson really is. The emotion she conveys both with the lyrics and voice is astonishing. A sense of urgency prevails this monster of a song. 9/10
11. Hear Me - Another one of my personal favorites. Probably the most "Rock" song on the album driven by the heavy guitar riff in the chorus. For me the middle 8 sets this song apart. 10/10
12. Beautiful Disaster (Live) - A Live acoustic piano version of the song from her first album Thankful. She performed it on tour and said she loved the song and version so much she wanted it on her second album also and it's not hard to see why after hearing this beautiful version. Basically a stripped version of the before "dusty rock" song. Really makes you notice the lyrics and the emotion and control is her voice is conveyed so perfectly. 9/10
I would reccomend this album for anyone who's a music fan in generl, weather it be pop, rock, R&B, Soul, anything! You only hear albums like this once every so often and very rarely with an artist of such promise and modesty.
Free Music Review: Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" success from Idol....

When Kelly Clarkson was a contestant on "American Idol," I thought she had the most gorgeous I have heard in a LONG time, but as much as I loved her I questioned how long she would last because of the stigma of being on the show. With her sophomore effort she has set herself apart from the show and showed true artistry and staying power. Her voice is amazing and really shines here.
1. "Breakaway"- This is a good song, but not her best. I think it was risky for her to attempt such a vocally safe song, because she is loved for her voice, but the public fell in love with it. One of the highest charting pop-songs in years, coming in at #6 based on airplay alone.
2. "Since U Been Gone"- This was by far the smartest choice Kelly could have ever made. Amazing vocals combined with a rockin' beat that showed what she is truly capable of. She proved she's no longer the sappy ballad singer.
3. "Behind These Hazel Eyes": the 3rd (or 2nd if you don't count "Breakaway") single from the album. Nice, catchy melody with good lyrics about being hurt and feeling vulnerable. She takes what could be an average song and adds her amazing vocals to make it a hit for sure.
4. "Because of You": One of my personal favorites. She tackles a tough subject and you can hear the pain in her voice. She sings with such emotion and you can just feel the hurt in her performance. I hope this becomes a single, it would do wonderful I'm sure.
5. "Gone": A great upbeat song that you can't get out of your head. Amazing vocals, as always, and she shows off the attitude in her voice with this one.
6. "Addicted": Like "Because of You" this song is absolutely amazing. Her voice conveys the strain of the addiction she sings about, which could be interpreted as whatever you want it to be. She shows what greatness she is capable of here. Absolutely great.
7. "Where is Your Heart": Classic Kelly here! She shows off the voice that made her famous here and delivers another convincing performance. Beautiful song with a bit of an edge.
8. "Walk Away": Up-tempo, fun, and energetic. Kelly shows a lot of attitude on this and owns the song.
9. "You Found Me": For all the hopeless romantics out there. This is classic Kelly once again, and she delivers this one for the fans.
10. "Hear Me": The hidden gem of this album! I think it's great, and it has such amazing lyrics, and Kelly rocks it out vocally. One of my favorites, I think this would have made a good title for the album as well.
11. "Beautiful Disaster": AMAZING! She tones down one of my favorite songs from her debut album and delivers a flawless performance LIVE. I rarely hear anyone that sounds this good live, much less with such control and range.
I would recommend this album to anyone who enjoys great singing, catchy melodies, and substance all in one. Kelly showed that she is not just a flash in the pan, and she proved herself as the true "American Idol", and not just by title from the show. She will be around for years to come if she continues to put out quality work like this.

1. Breakaway ----- 4/5.... good song for a sad mood like when no one understands u .. still gets to me at times
2. Since U Been Gone----- 4.5/5 Boyfriend bashin.. Gosh uring break up times. u so hate him wit that song and Love urself (not vice versa... I jus luve it
3. Behind These Hazel Eyes---- 5/5 My favourite song.... Its so emotional that it hides the emotions between the words.. u have to sit n sing it to live it.... SO GOOD!!!
4. Because of You--- 5/5 (just listenin to it here).. its really a sentimental song and its bout her parents and more of their divorce sorta thing but it could be used in other scenarios.... Good to listen to during meditatiing times.. makes me cry!!!
5. Gone--- 5/5 one of my most favs songs... "u knnow u did it im gone to find som,eone to live for in this world" gosh I just love this sond... kinna boyfriend bashing... Gives u A whole ton of strenght after a break up......
6. Addicted--- 5/5 Another favourite of mine... Personally that song has me within my depths... IM so hooked.. ive been playing it on and on and it just doesnt get boring like some others.. im actually addicted to the song...... Its about how she feels bout someone in other words she is totally addicted to him!!!
7. Where Is Your Heart--- 3.5/5 this song is ok but its not on my all time favs list but my best friend loves this song so much...
8. Walk Away--- 3.5/5 another good song but i have my moods bout listening to it... it really has a message but im still not gettin it.. Not all that sentimental to me but then its bout her looking for something ina guy and if his not pullin through to her expectations she will just walk away!!
9. You Found Me--- 5/5 OMG my all time Fav again... You found me made me cry the first time i listened to it.. its about her and a guy who finds her (or whatvere became her gf) wen she thought no one would/could well something of that sort to me but its really emotional and the way she brings out her voice in it u could sense/feel some emotions..
10. I Hate Myself for Losing You-- 4/5... I really like this song... its jjust about a girl losing her boyfriend to another and she thinks its her fault n she pushed him away and she still hasnt gotten over the break up and blames herself
11. Hear Me--- 4.5/5...... its so emotional... at the beginnin wen she says "hear me , hear me, you gotta be out there u gotta be somewhere , wherever u are im waiting" is so emotional n so sentimental.... in the chorus her voice extends to horizions like shes never been... its like she is feelin the song and brings herself all out to show what she is feelin... NOW SONGS LIKE THAT I COULD COPE TOO.... i recommmend it!!
12. Beautiful Disaster 3.5/5..... form her old cd.... its ok ive jus out runned it ... first listened to u would rate it a 4/5 but then it goes down time after time....

I absolutely love this CD. I wasn't really a fan of Kelly until this CD came out, mainly because she wasn't "rocky" enough. But Breakaway really blew me away! I couldn't believe the innocent girl we knew from "Thankful" could belt out rock songs like she does on this CD! Even though there is a lot of rock songs, she still sings those ballads (which she does beautifully.) Those high notes she hits give me chills! Breakaway is the best Kelly Clarkson CD yet, and I think the best album of the year! I really recommend this cd!

~~~I love this song! This is my favorite song. It is one of those songs (for me) that really inspires me to go after my dreams and my goals. Another quality of this song is that it is such a beautiful vocal by Kelly. Lastly, this song really portrays Kelly's life perfectly.
Since U Been Gone-4 1/2 stars
~~~This song is awesome too! I don't think it is quite as good as Breakaway, but it still is awesome. This is the best break-up power rock song i've heard in a long time.
Behind These Hazel Eyes- 5 stars
~~~Oh my gosh! This is a great song! The range of Kelly's vocals on this song are amazing! This is the best rock song on this CD.
Because Of You- 4 1/2 stars
~~~This is one of Kelly's ballads on this CD. It is really packed full of emotion.

~~~This is a pretty cool song. It is definately not my favorite, but the lyrics are really good, and it is a rock song.
Addicted- hmmm ( i'm not sure how to rate this song)
~~~The reason i don't know how to rate this song is because it is a really dark song. When I'm really mad at somebody, I can listen to it, and it makes me feel better, but when I'm in a good mood (which is most of the time) it is too dark for me to listen to.
Where Is Your Heart- 4 1/2 stars
~~~This is another one of Kelly's ballads on this CD. She has a really good range on this song. All i can really think to say on this song is that it is really really good.
Walk Away- 4 stars
~~~This is the most different Kelly Clarkson song ever! But I'm definately not saying that different isn't good. I really don't know how to explain this song though.
You Found Me-5 stars
~~~I really like this song! But you have to listen to it more than once to like it. I love the lyrics and how you can relate it (or at least that is how i do) to how fame "found" Kelly Clarkson through American Idol.

~~~I really like this song! This is another rock song, and I love the lyrics and the beat to it. The vocals are great too.

~~~ The vocals on this song are unbelievable, even for Kelly! Plus, this is a live performance! I don't really like the song that much, speaking of that I am a guy, but the vocals do the song justice.
Overall, this is a WONDERFUL CD, and Kelly Clarkson really uses her voice to its full extent!

Kelly has managed to do what I thought was impossible. She's impressed me and made me love her voice even more! I thought Kelly had more than proven her vocal capabilities only to discover that on this album she reaches further and captures the bittersweet heartbreak of loves lost. Kelly evokes such pain with her lyrics that it's almost too painful to listen to but I can't make myself turn it off because it's so beautiful at the same time.
Tracks:
1.Breakaway 4/5: This song is beautiful hopeful and clearly deserved it's peak position of #1!!
2. Since U Been Gone 4/5: I love this song because it reminds me of the loves I've lost and how even though I felt in that moment I'd surely die, I was better off in the end without them.
3. Behind these Hazel Eyes 5/5: This song is so sad and yet so beautiful at the same time. The feeling of hurt and pain yet the strength to not let that pain show. Kelly's voice on this track is so amazingly touching I wasn't sure she'd top it.
4. Because of you 5/5: WOW!!! this song is so devestating in the message it brings. The sheer pain and agony behind the lyrics reach into the soul and almost rips it out.
5. Gone: 4/5: what a great song! the baby sister of Since U been gone!! yes I miss you but no you can't come back! I love that!
6. Addicted 10!!! best song on the CD IMO! I can't find words to describe this song!
7. Where is your heart: 4/5: very good song. Lyrically beautiful with very strong vocals
8. Walk Away 5/5: this song makes me want to go dancing! I love this song so much! it's reminds me of Pink on her mizunderstood CD but with better vocals.
9. you found me 4/5: this song is truly inspirational in a CD frought with heartbreak! It talks about that special someone finding you when you thought it impossible. Gives us hopeless romantics something to hang onto.
10. I hate myself for losing you 5/5: wow such powerful words. "how do you cry when every tear you shed won't bring him back again"
11. Hear Me 5/5: Kelly's anthem! we all just want to be heard and Kelly gives a voice to that desire.
12. Beautiful Disaster (live) 5/5: all the hardcore Kelly fans hoped and prayed this song would make the album. it was the most amazing part of her live show and the biggest surprise. Beautiful was on Thankful but had "too much" going on to really be able to fully appreciate the meaning behind the song. This version is stripped down and allows the listener to really sit back and grasp the full lyrical journey.
overall this CD is more than I hoped for and much more than Kelly's critics will be expecting. If they were looking for American Idol fluff they will be disappointed. Kelly takes a hammer and smashes that image. She so wonderfully wraps her vocals around guitar driven rock/pop songs and makes her fans dumbstruck with how far she's come in two years. Kelly's a shining star and it's only getting brighter!
