Free Music Review: Kelly Clarkson:- Breakaway
Hit: 5 Stars

Just a few years back, Kelly Clarkson was the first ever winner of the talent show American Idol. She released her U.S. chart-topping debut album Thankful, and revealed hits Miss Independent, Before Your Love, Low and The Trouble With Love Is... in the U.K., as well as this, the album also consisted of her American Idol hit A Moment Like This. Thankful was a sloppy piece of Kelly's work, only consisting of a few good tracks, but her second album, Breakaway, is a much better effort.

BREAKAWAY
Taken from the film Princess Diaries 2. This was released as a single in the U.S., and climbed to number six on the Hot 100. It is also a popular radio hit in the U.K., and is beyond amazing.

SINCE U BEEN GONE
This is Kelly's biggest hit to date. The single was the first to be released from this album in the U.K., making the top five. It was the second in America, where it reached number two. Amazing song.

BEHIND THESE HAZEL EYES
U.S. third single, U.K. second single. Behind These Hazel Eyes is considered Kelly's finest song to date, though it didn't get the success of Since U Been Gone. It reached number nine in the U.K. and number six in America. The video shows how Kelly is betrayed by her lover, and one of the scenes shows Kelly singing in pain about the broken relationship of her and lover, in the mud. Fantastic song, accompanied by a equally great video.

BECAUSE OF YOU
This is one of the most personal songs on the album. Because Of You, the fourth U.S. single and third U.K., shows Kelly singing in pain about the love-hate relationship with her and family. The single hit number seven in the United Kingdom and the United States. Amazing song.

GONE
This was claimed to be the fifth single from the album in America, but was delayed due to its similarity with Since U Been Gone. Fabulous song.

ADDICTED
This is Kelly's favourite song from the album, as she's said so herself, and it's also one of my favourites.

WHERE IS YOUR HEART
Beautiful ballad which Kelly sings brilliantly.

WALK AWAY
Fantastic. I find this song similar to Gone, and they are both equally wonderful.

YOU FOUND ME
Out of all the non-single tracks on this album, this is my favourite. This is just one of the best songs of Kelly's whole great career.

I HATE MYSELF FOR LOSING YOU
Alot of people claim this to be the worst song on the album. It's anything but. Great.

HEAR ME
Hauntingly fantastic. If you like Evanescence's music, you will love this.

BEAUTIFUL DISASTER (Live)
Original version from the album Thankful. This is a great track, and really proves Kelly can sing. Much better than the original much-rockier studio version.

Overall, I completely recommend Breakaway to anyone who loves Kelly's music or Kelly Clarkson. It's a brilliant album, and definately one of the best in the charts at the moment.

Free Music Review: Extremely well-written, the soundtrack to every girls life
Hit: 5 Stars

Ever since her days on Idol, Kelly has had one of the best voices in the business, there's no doubt. Her first album, "Thankful" was good, but there lacked originality and creativity. This time around, Kelly wrote, helped to produce, and sang ALL background vocals on her album, "Breakaway". Pretty impressive, huh?

Here's a little play by play of each track:

1. "Breakaway"- It's the perfect soundtrack song... it's one of songs that brings back tons of memories, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it being played at graduations, etc. It's such an aspiring song. 8.5/10

2. "Since U Been Gone"- Okay, so what if Avril Lavinge wrote it-it's still awesome! It's one of those songs that no matter who you are and what type of music you like, you know the words and sing along EVERYTIME it comes on! Kelly finally gets to show her more "rock" side, and it works well. 9.5/10

3. "Behind These Hazel Eyes"- Another rock-esque song, but with less anger. The lyrics are something everyone can relate to if you've ever been in a relationship or wanted to be in one. She also has an incredibley strong and long note that we all wish we could imitate. 9.5/10

4. "Because of You"- A fan favorite, and I can see why. It's one of the best written, emotional songs ever. Kelly wrote this when she was just a teenager, 16 I believe, about her parents divorce. But the song can be translated to anything from a friends suicide to a love relationship. The fact that the song doesn't necessarily rhyme just makes it more beautiful, like poetry. 10/10

5. "Gone"- Hate how the song begins, but it gets better- I promise. Good song about breakups. 7.5/10

6. "Addicted"- Kelly channels some Amy Lee on this one. The lyrics put a mental image in your head, and make you think. It just hits you hard, and you end up singing it everytime you hear it. 9/10

7. "Where Is Your Heart"- Kelly is graceful in her singing, if that makes any sense. Another well-written song. 9/10

8. "Walk Away"- A more fun, upbeat, poppy sound on this one. I like the other songs more, though, so in comparison, it's lackluster. 8/10

9. "You Found Me"- A happy song about love. Extremely catchy. 9.5/10

10. "I Hate Myself For Losing You"- Basically, it's a slap-in-the-face kind of song. It's about you blaming yourself for something you can't control. Great song and background music/ 9/10

11. "Hear Me"- My least favorite song on the album, but with that being said I'd still give it a 7/10

12. "Beautiful Disaster" (live)- Kelly's one of the few artist's I'd pay big money for to see her live. This track proves it. It's AMAZING... 9.5/10

Overall, great album. Anyone who's ever doubted Kelly or not liked her "pop" sound, you'll love this. The lyrics she wrote herself are extremely impressive, and the vocals will amaze you. Should win a Grammy, for sure. I suggest buying it. :)

Free Music Review: Breakaway Does Exactly What It Set Out to Do
Hit: 5 Stars

I find it interesting that I'm posting a review on a cd in which I am stunned by 11 of the 12 songs. It's rare that I come across a cd that hits me like a ton a bricks......in a good way.

Breakaway - 3.5/5 I still don't quite understand why this song did so well on radio. When I first heard it I thought it was easy listening but a little too "Duff-pop." It made me a little nervous that her sophomore cd would be taking that direction. Breakaway is a great song in that it will sell many albums because it did so well on radio.

Since You Been Gone - 4/5 GREAT second single off this album. It's a great transition from poppish Breakaway to some deeper rock ballads that will hopefully be later released.

Behind These Hazel Eyes - 4/5 This song will probably become a single, but I think there are better songs on the album, but not necessarily really radio friendly, and this song is very radio friendly. At times, Kelly may sound a little like Avril Lavigne, with a much better voice. The hook on this song is stuck in my head even though it's not my favorite song.

Because of You - 5/5 One word, Grammy. This is Kelly's grammy ticket if they release this song at the right time. Soon enough to make an impact on radio, but letting the grammy gods have it fresh in their mind.

Gone - 5/5 Avril Lavigne meets Gwen Stefani. This track has a lot of originality and Kelly sounds great on it. It's something to see when an artist finally realizes who they are musically and it translates on a cd so well.

Addicted - 5/5 Probably the best song on the album. Her vocals are unmatched and the bridge in this song is something from the gods! The song is very dark, demonic sounding, with angelic vocals, you get the picture right? haha

Where Is Your Heart - 5/5 Wow another power ballad that takes Clarkson souring. The material is just leagues above Thankful.

Walk Away - 5/5 Aerosmith meets Christina Aguilera meets Michael Jackson. Another one of my favorites on the album! This is a must listen and might be a contender for future single status!

You Found Me - 3/5 For a second there I thought Hillary Duff was going to start singing "Let the rain fall down..." - haha, not my favorite but it'll pull the poppish people.

I Hate Myself for Losing You - 4/5 Whew! Everything from the bridge on is amazing. The verses are stronger than the chorus which is a little backwards, but it works. I love the song and the meaning is so deep.

Hear Me - 5/5 Please let this be a single too! Oh no, I think I'm at like 6 singles off this album, haha. The material on this album is so deep is crazy.

Beautiful Disaster - 5/5 Simply put, one of the best vocal performances in the last 10 years. How does she sing better live than in the studio.

The cd is great, but only you can make that judgement. Give it a chance, you might surprise yourself, I know I did.

Free Music Review: Her Appeal Goes A Long Way
Hit: 5 Stars

Alright, coming from someone who primarily listens to a lot of post-hardcore/alternative (Thrice, Underoath, Alexisonfire, etc..) Some might find it completely incomprehensible or ridiculous that Kelly Clarkson even has a chance of sparking some musical favoritism, let alone interest. Trust me, this album goes a very long way in impressing even the more softer side of "angsty" music lovers out there.

What differenciates Kelly from the other pop/pop-rock artists is simple. The girl can sing. She's legit, and for the nay-sayers that believe her career is bound to flop at some point, get over yourselves, you know you voted for her on American Idol just like the rest of the country did.

Regardless of the comparisons to the dreaded Avrils and Britneys out there, one fact remains true -- Kelly's got lasting talent, and it shows on Breakaway. Now, I didn't care enough to listen to the first album she put out (with the exception of one or two songs), but after hearing "Behind These Hazel Eyes", and realizing that she went the way of the typical female solo artist by having a band, I thought to myself "Great, another Ashlee Simpson". Man...I was shocked and suprised to learn that all of my negative assumptions ended up being wrong.

After hearing "Breakaway" from start to finish, I didn't know what to make of it, but I was surely blown away by how solid it was.

Just for a second, forget the band...forget the cliched relationship-esque lyrics...Kelly's voice is what sold me. I don't care if other artists can dance, or claim to represent one genre/style, or sell millions of records based on the amount of skin they show in each magazine spread. Kelly's got her vocals to reaffirm that they're the main reason for why she has so much natural talent, and why "Breakaway" just works.

Breaking down some of the tracks, the entire album went back and forth between typical "good-time" pop tracks ('Since U Been Gone', 'Gone', 'Walk Away), and semi-depressing ballads that we're actually the highlights ('Breakaway', 'Addicted', 'Because Of You'). I found the "edgier" tracks to be 'Behind These Hazel Eyes', and 'Hear Me'. As for the one song that gave me chills, I must say that the live version of "Beautiful Disaster" is the dominant reason for why I give Kelly so much credit as a singer. I've never heard an almost completely a capella song sound so perfect.

So okay, fully knowing that listening to the "pop-rock" thing is never a topic that's discussed or revealed by many, "Breakaway" is more than a guilty pleasure. All I can say is, even if you hate pop, pop-rock, poser-punk, anything within those limits, give this one a try. There's just something that's different and appealing about it. You would be suprised by how impressive the album is.

It's the most genuine effort I've heard from a solo artist in a long time, and I'm glad I took a chance listening to an album that I would have never touched otherwise.

Free Music Review: ECLECTIC ROCK-POP-SONGS.
Hit: 5 Stars

For a vocal artist that came from the AI competition is hard to get rid of that title, the winner of a reality show. But instead of been ashamed by it, Clarkson embrace it and show to the world with her second album that she can deliver a perfect Soft Rock song to a total puppy mellow ballad. That's what BREAKAWAY represents, an eclectic view of mainstream pop music, from ROCK to DANCE POP. For many Clarkson will confuse them, who she is really in music. But for me is simple. Clarkson is an artist that could appeal to many different styles of music from JAZZ to COUNTRY. But hopefully she won't get lost in variaty without foundin' her own identity. For her sophomore album is a non-skippable tracks record, a full delight from the beginning to the end, standing out is the rock-danceable-pop tune SINCE U BEEN GONE her second single that has driven beat and clever lyrics, sadly is that her video ideas lack of creatibity, if u like this song, please don't watch the video, it steals the magic of the joint. BREAKAWAY a soundtrack cheesy original is a song that didn't feature Kelly's high range voice, but the simpleness of it made it perfect. In the simple things you'll find the beauty they say. BEHIND HAZEL EYES is an amazing track, ready for radio, I'll be not surprise if this comes as a single. The beginning of the "Here I am, once again..." in the chorus line is perfect match for the song. BECAUSE OF YOU a romantic mellow track that reminds me a lil bit of TROUBLE WITH LOVE...is another meaningful song, with strong simple lyrics, her voice sounds breaky here but really works for the song. GONE another rock-pop tune, with a more strong beat and with a lot of attitude. LISTEN this song feature so much drama, and heartache is just one of those songs that you'll go crazy about it. WHERE IS YOUR HEART sweet ballad with a piano simple background, although the lyrics are predictible, her almost soul-sound a like save the day before the track becomes just another love song. WALK AWAY one of the most pop track of the record, not the danceable type, but you can stomp to it, nothing new. YOU FOUND ME another-pop-rock by this time you'll think humm it sounds a lil a like of the other tracks. The thing is this track is average. I HATE MYSELF FOR LOVING YOU not a Joan Jett cover, but a song that feauture a well known topic with an easy beat. HEAR ME strong song, she is mad...nice last touch. BEAUTIFUL DISASTER why didn't this become a hit, this a very sound-like a classic song, and listening to it LIVE it's just delightful, she is really a gifted vocalist. At the end the only demand I have to make Miss Clarkson or her Marketing team is that they choose the art of her videos more wisely, cos they won't become classic, if they keep it that simple and without any creativity input in it.
For the music Clarkson makes a more clever move than any AI contestant and she will survie much likely. *****FIVE STARS to an album that feautures many styles of pop music.
