Free Music Review: Breakaway, indeed.
Hit: 5 Stars

Credit "American Idol" for getting one thing right: bringing Kelly Clarkson to public consciousness. This girl's for real. On her aptly-titled sophomore effort, "Breakaway", Clarkson not only ably breaks away from the "Idol" formula, but also veers away from the gimmicky shenanigans of her dime-a-dozen radio contemporaries. The new collection is a potent mix of substance and style. If her eclectic debut, "Thankful", was the introduction, a sampling of what she can do, "Breakaway" is surely the first full chapter. And what an engrossing attention-getter it is.

Here, Clarkson is in an angsty, edgy rocker kinda mood. She expounds on the trouble with love in all its misery...and lots of things get broken along the way: broken hearts ( "Behind These Hazel Eyes" ); broken relationships ( "Since U Been Gone", "Walk Away" ); broken habits ( "Gone" ); broken homes ( "Because of You" ); and, of course, erm, broken away (the title track and modern classic, "Breakaway" ). The haunting "Addicted" is mesmerizing, almost frightening in its dark allure and brilliance. Serving as a nice contrast - and a bit of a reprieve - from the generally somber tone of the album is the captivating and hopeful "You Found Me" , where Clarkson reflects on what it's like when love goes right; and yet, even here there is a touch of melancholy and weariness in her voice that maintains nicely the flow of the entire disc. The collection climaxes with the powerful tour de force that is "Hear Me", and then wraps up quietly with a gorgeous, live rendition of "Beautiful Disaster". Clarkson clearly remembers what it's like to be the listener. The 12-track set comes in at a brisk 45 minutes, not one second of which is wasted. There is such movement within and between the tracks that the songs never wear out their welcome.

Guiding you through it all is that epic, stunningly versatile voice, which is satisfyingly showcased here. It towers and booms. It quakes with emotion. It soothes. It enchants. Clarkson is a masterful and passionate storyteller and vocalist, and she does not play it safe here. The nuanced vocalizations are astonishingly complex and difficult. Trying to sing along to these immensely sing-along-able songs...well, I don't think I've ever sounded so bad, heh. Her voice and the rock instrumentation make a phenomenal pair.

Glancing at the liner notes, we find that Clarkson is credited as either the main writer or as a smaller contributor on several tracks. Looking further, we find she provides all vocals (including all background vocals) throughout the entire disc. Amazing. Nope, no silly posturing, no gratuitous self-promotion, no flashy studio trickery here. Just great, great music from a great artist. This album deserves to become a classic, and Clarkson deserves to be appreciated as something much more than mere idol. Turn the volume way up on this one, folks.

Free Music Review: Major Growth From First Album....Great!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I watched American Idol 1 religiously, and Kelly was and is my favorite idol of all time. I bought her first album, and as I expected, it was filled with a bunch of cheesy ballads and pop songs. I anticipated her new album greatly, as I knew she would be credited for writing some of the songs. The result: a great, compelling album filled with songs that are great for everybody.

1. Breakaway: First single. Catchy and has a great message, but a little played out. 8/10
2. Since You've Been Gone: Second single, one of my favorites because it depicts a strong, powerful message. 9/10
3. Behind These Hazel Eyes: Whoa...Avril Lavigne called and wants her voice back! First few seconds of song are totally Lavigne-esque, but besides that, this is the first song that Clarkson co-wrote. Poppy, not my favorite but it grows on you. Anticipated third single. 8/10
4. Because of You: Okay, when I first heard this song I cried. Beautiful ballad, standout track, whatever you want to call it; this song is amazing. Co-written w/former Evanescence guitarist. 10/10
5. Gone: Edgy, with a catchy chorus. Not quite a standout track, but not a filler either. Good to listen to while driving(random fact). 7/10
6. Addicted: Another Clarkson/Moody effort. Very haunting, chilling track. I think this song has the most emotion out of all tracks on this album. Great, inspiring track. 9/10
7. Where Is Your Heart: I admit that I love ballads, but I think that this is the second best song next to Because of You. [Coincidentally] They are both ballads; I love Kelly's voice on this one. Great chorus. 10/10
8. Walk Away: Another rock/edgy song. I only really like the chorus to this song, I guess because the words to the versus seem kind of irrelevant. But as I said, great chorus and bridge. 7/10
9. You Found Me: My third favorite song of the album. This is probably the poppiest (word?) song of the album, and it does remind me of her last album. But it is a really meaningful song that is relatable. 9/10
10. I Hate Myself For Losing You: This and Hear Me are my two least-favorite of the album. I like the versus', but the chorus doesn't seem to fit the song. 6/10
11. Hear Me: Not my favorite, but this is a strong album so that's not saying much. It has good lyrics and vocals and Kelly co-wrote it so I eventually won me over. 7/10
12. Beautiful Disaster (Live): I was so excited that this was on the album. This is the "piano" version of the song, which is so cool because usually artists don't "remix" a song when they perform it live. I love listening to this song. 9/10

Overall grade: 9/10
Standout Tracks: Since You've Been Gone, Because of You, Addicted, Where Is Your Heart, You Found Me
One of my favorite albums of the year.

Free Music Review: Breakaway Song Review
Hit: 5 Stars

The smash hit "Breakaway" sung by Kelly Clarkson comes from the best selling album Breakaway. The song was written by Matthew Gerrard, B. Benante, and Avril Lavigne, and published by Seagulls Music Publishing. The song is basically about going through a new transaction in life, taking risks, chances, and making changes. The song also talks about the feeling of belonging, suffocation, unhappiness, determination, and freedom. It is both memorable and meaningful in many ways because it gives the reader and listeners many emotions and the meanings of life.
The song "Breakaway" explains about a person who felt like they did not belong where they were at that point of there life, because no one heard them when they were trying to speak out. Some examples from the song are, "Trying hard to reach out, but when I tried to speak out, felt like no one could here me." "Wanted to belong here, but something felt so wrong here, so I prayed I could break away." Then the writer explains the person's determination and courage to break away, and how the person would never forget the place they came from, and the ones that they loved. Some lines from the song gives feelings to its audience such as, "Out of the darkness and into the sun," and "Though it's not easy to tell you goodbye." The language and imagery helps the writers get a point across because they use alliteration, imagery, metaphors, repetition, rhyme, and rhythm.
The song is of great significance to many different people. Everyone can relate themselves to the song in some different way. It raises a lot of emotions and in the audience such as sadness, determination, courage, and happiness. The best part is that each individual can pull out a moral from the song because it has so much meaning and relates to everyday life. I definitely agree with the author's point because it has given me determination, and raised many emotions inside such as sadness and hope. This song relates to everyone because each and every single human has a point in their life when they come to realize that they should start something new, gain their freedom and break away somehow. There is much strength in this song such as raising emotions, giving morals, feelings, talking about starting a new life full of freedom, taking risks and chances, and making changes in your life. It gives hope to the audience and expresses a feeling that every human being has in their life.
In conclusion, the song "Breakaway" has affected and touched many people's lives in different ways. The song has a good meaning, and gives a new approach to life. It helps people relate themselves and gives determination, strength, courage and hope to those who feel weak and unsure. It is very beautiful, touching and inspiring, and its audience would truly enjoy the lyrics and the meanings.

Free Music Review: Why Be Thankful, when you can breakaway?
Hit: 5 Stars

Props to Kelly for releasing her sophomore album and thanks to Kelly for giving us a fulfilling album .

I never thought I would say anything like I'm fixin to say but I'm gonna just go ahead and admit that this is the best album released from an Idol contestant to this point. It really is grammy material.

It is far better than Clay's, Ruben's, and Tamyra's and we all know how crazy I am about Tamyra.

Her cd is filled with rock songs and its very entertaining. Most of the tracks are stand-out tracks and majority could potentially be singles. YTou can't really pick or chose the next single because so many are hits you just can't predict.

1 Breakaway 9/10 Really good song

2 "Since U Been Gone" 10/10 One of the best tracks on the cd. Very fun to listen to and just scream to...lol

3. "Behind These Hazel Eyes" 10/10 One of my favorites of this album. She shows her range in this song and hits this crazy note at the end and gives me chills. Very nice and catchy Chorus too

4. "Because Of You" 10/10 One of a couple of slow songs and I normally don't like slow songs but Kelly is just sooo talented and her voice is so on point its not even funny. This is a really cool song

5 "Gone 10/10 Another hard rock song...fun and potential single One of my Favs

6. "Addicted" 10/10 Another stand-out track... There's alot of hype going into this song and looks to be a favorite of many. This song's pace kinda changes at the end and makes you want more from the track which can be a very good thing. Very Strong and addicting song

7. "Where is Your Heart" 9/10 Another AMAZING track by Kelly, I'm tellin you guys this is a great cd...lol Very strong vocally and also another ballad

8 "Walk Away" 8/10 Kinda Dull at times but overall still a good track to listen to

9. "You Found Me" 9/10 I really can't say much more This is another good song on the cd very catchy and fun to listen to

10. "I hate myself for losing you" 7/10 The weakest track on the cd to me. Something is missing for some reaon. It's not a horrible track but its not oine that I listen to EVERYTIME have the cd in my cd player

11. "Hear Me" 10/10 This is the track that I jam to. Technically I think this is the best song from the beat to the vocals to the production to the lyrics everything is on-point. The Best Track

12. "Beautiful Disaster" Live 8/10 I'm not a big fan of the song but Kelloy SANG this song. Vocally probably one of the best times I"ve heard her.

Obviously overall I think this is a MUST HAVE cd. I give my 100% Recommendation to any who are on the fence about this album. You will be pleased.
