I enjoy listening to these hits. It reminded me of old times.

Free Music Review: Some GREAT....some SYRUPY STINKERS.
Hit: 4 Stars

The real IRONY here is that people are writing negative reviews saying this collection has RE-recorded songs on it. They are ABSOLUTELY NOT RE-records!!! What they are hearing are the first 4 songs that were done by Kenny Rogers and The First Edition. THEY ARE ORIGINAL RECORDINGS! The first 4 songs ONLY SOUND poor compared to his NEWER recordings.

SOLUTION: Kenny did re-record these first 4 tunes on "KENNY ROGERS: TEN YEARS OF GOLD" which may be purchased at a very cheap price and the re-records actually SOUND BETTER than the ORIGINAL recordings! Kenny has a lot of GREAT songs, but he definitely had a lot of syrupy-sugar-sweet stuff during the 80s that were PURE MUSH that were suitable only for doctors/dentists office. You know the ones I'm talking about....no need to list them all here. Here is my personal list of winners and stinkers.

THE BEST: ALL his early tunes with "THE FIRST EDITION", Love Lifted Me (excellent!), Sweet Music Man, Daytime Friends,
Twenty Years Ago, Islands in the Stream, most of his duets with Dottie West and Sheena Easton is pretty good.

THE WORST: Through the Years, Crazy, You Decorated My Life, Love the World Away, Lady, She Believes in Me,
The Vows Go Unbroken (you can't help but remember that he broke his vows).... gag, vomit, etc.

SUMMARY: Kenny Rogers has some GREAT songs. But he had some awfully syrupy-sweet sickening songs that were equally as BAD.
Overall, a good collection probably worth the money to most people.
