Free Music Notes for 10 Days Out (Blues from the Backroads)/ (CD/DVD)Free Music Review: This is a the best blues cd/dvd Hit: 5 Stars
This is very well worth the money. Kenny Wayne Shephard has got such great talent, and what a great thought in getting all these blues artist on this cd. What a great vision in putting this cd/dvd together, all of his hard work has been worth it. I have personally seen Kenny Wayne Shephard 2 times, soon the be 3 if my luck holds. All the songs on this is so wonderfully done, and thankfully you can hear Kenny Wayne play on all the songs. The dvd is just great, and being from Kansas what a pleasant surprise that the dvd starts and ends at the blues studio in Kansas. I very highly recommend purchasing this cd/dvd, I don't think anyone would be disappointed in this, I am so glad I purchased it. I will enjoy playing this for all my friends and without a doubt they will be blown away by the whole cd. Thank you Kenny Wayne Shephard.
Free Music Review: Absolutely Spectacular!! Hit: 5 Stars
Hats off to KWS and all the people involved in making this tribute cd happen. I bought this with good, but not great expectations. Happy to say, I was blown away after 1 go-through.
Watched the DVD first, and as many other reviewers have said, it alone is EASILY worth the price of admission. It was a very professionally done performance documentary and one I'll certainly view again. Listening to the audio cd always makes me think of the performer segments from the documentary.
Again, I couldn't be happier with this set. KWS is to be commended for paying tribute to these older, and largely ignored musicians. They still have so much to offer, and their music blows away any of the garbage found on the radio.
Way to go Kenny! Any possibility of a Volume 2?
Free Music Review: Outstanding Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this CD/DVD AFTER seeing KWS in concert at Viejas here
in San Diego. What a treat to see and hear Pinetop Perkins and
Hubert Sumlin among others! My estimation of KWS as a performer
and good guy increased by a quantum leap after seeing the show.
He may be one the best guitarists I've ever seen live, and he
respectfully kept that fierce talent in check when the others were
stepping out. He seems a real gentleman as well as lover of the
music and the people.
The package is excellent, a real gem. The interviews and background
materials are touching, especially of the folks that have since passed.
BUY THIS CD. THESE GUYS ARE THE REAL DEAL. YOU WON'T BE SORRY!
Free Music Review: A MUST HAVE! Hit: 5 Stars
No matter what type of a music lover you might be, this DVD/CD is a must have. It is much more than the blues, it is a snapshot of life as it was and where some have been. It is amazingly honest, transparent and emotional. You could not have created this without real passion, love and committment of all those involved. This item serves as a memorial tribute to those forefathers of the Blues and those that were the originators of the music as we know it today. Entertaining, compassionate, engaging and the real deal. For all ages, genders and anyone that knows life is much more than it appears on the surface. You can't re-create this folks, as many of the featured people have now passed away. What a beautiful creation.
Free Music Review: A great lesson in some major blues players for any fan Hit: 5 Stars
I've got to agree that this set is a gem. I got it after catching Kenny play a show and hear him talk a little bit about it, figured it would be cool to hear Kenny play w/ these greats (they all are, even if you don't know their names--I didn't).
I expected Kenny to lead, but the album and DVD are really about the other artists--he plays behind and under them most of the time, a real homage to them.
Watching the DVD the first time had me totally sucked in, and really depressed me at the end when they list the death dates of many of the featured artists... makes me really appreciate that Kenny and the band did this, without it I probably never would have heard of most of the featured artists.
