Free Music Notes for 10 Days Out (Blues from the Backroads)/ (CD/DVD)Free Music Review: Really good stuff Hit: 5 Stars
Really a joy to listen to. Great to hear, AND see KWS getting back to the good stuff with an excellent tribute to these true American originals of music. The recording sound is awesome, feels like your there with them. The only downside to so many old blues recordings is the poor sound quality, although I like that sometimes, here it's great to hear what these old timers can deliver when supported by a great rhythm section, backup guitar and top-notch sound engineering. These fantastic recordings have preserved in time the great sound of original blues, a timely tribute especially after sadly hearing of several of them passing.
Many thanks to KWS, Double Trouble and all the others that made this happen!
Free Music Review: REAL AMERICAN MUSIC! Hit: 5 Stars
In this day and time, people are hungry for what's real. Especially music lovers. That's why more and more of them are discovering the blues.
The only place to go for this music is to it's roots. It is well represented here by names you probably know like B.B.King, and names you may not, like Pinetop Perkins.
The CD/DVD combination here represents an amazing value. The sound is great, the video is great. Going to the homes of these great Blues Legends was a stroke of genius.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd is poised to keep this music alive for generations to come. Thanks to all for your hard work!
If this doesn't get a Grammy this year, they need to cancel the show.
Free Music Review: A Lost Art Hit: 5 Stars
I love this CD! The blues are becoming a lost art to the "younger" generation and thank goodness for Kenny Wayne! Take a listen to this CD and you will hear so many of today's popular musical offerings that are copied from the blues. It is true what I have been hearing for years - the blues is what inspired Rock and Roll, Funk, R&B, etc.... Sit back, listen and enjoy, by the end of the CD you will have a smile on your face, a tap in your toes and to top it off, a wonderful musical history lesson. I was so fortunate to catch Kenny Wayne on tour in April, he brought along some blues legends - so if he comes to your town, you better run, not walk, for tickets. You won't be disappointed.
Free Music Review: It's the DVD Hit: 5 Stars
This is being sold as a "CD/DVD" which it is, but it is the DVD which needs to be promoted and praised. The CD is a nice bonus to have to play in standard CD players like in your car. The DVD really deserves some awards. The Grammys are a shallow and overly broad presentation of popular music and I am usually less than enthusiastic about the annual event. Still, I hope that this CD/DVD receives recognition there and in other venues throughout the year. The only thing left out by other reviewers who [like me] loved this production is more credit to Kenny Wayne's dad Ken Shepherd who as a co-producer supervised and contributed a lot to this magnificent documentation of the blues.
Free Music Review: Sublime Blues 5 Stars
This is far and away the best blues documentary ever made, and I have seen many. I loved Cootie Stark, and would like to have known him. A true genius. All of the artists reached me in a very deep way, and it was clear that the project was from the hearts of those who created it. The blues makes usfeel good about feeling bad. When we listen to these old blues hands, it is like somebody else knows and understands what we are feeling. And they help us feel it. In my opinion, Ten Days Out should be at the Library of Congress, and on record at the Smithsonian Museum of American History. If Kenny Wayne Shepherd never does another thing, he can still say he made an impact.
