Free Music Notes for 10 Days Out (Blues from the Backroads)/ (CD/DVD)Free Music Review: A slam dunk for blues album of the year Hit: 5 Stars
I spent 35 years in radio and television and very little impresses me but there is always the exception. 10 Days Out in my opinion is one of the best blues albums in a decade. This is a project that not only cried out tbe done but was expertly done. The dvd will keep you glued to your tv. Watch it first then listen to the cd. This baby is a labor of love and it shows. One can only hope that Warner Brothers realizes what they have and cranks up the promotion.
Free Music Review: Great, especially for non-hardcore blues fans Hit: 5 Stars
This product--the DVD in particular--is almost like a blues primer, an ideal introduction to what makes the blues not only the most authentic and original of American music, but the best category of music out there. For anyone who has found real blues (as in, say, anything mroe raw than the Allman Bros.) a little bit inaccessible, this is your answer. And for real blues fans, you owe it to KWS to support this very admirable effort. Great on every level.
Free Music Review: Important Historical Record Hit: 5 Stars
KWS does his best Ry Cooder impersonation and documents some excellent blues. While KWS and his band are excellent the real stars are the various guest stars such Big Daddy Neil Pattman and Etta Baker. These elder statesman play with a grit and soul that is the essence of the blues. There is a reason that of the nearly 150 reviews there is not one negative review. It is a bonus that it was also caught of film and provided as part of a CD\DVD set. Enjoy.
Free Music Review: As real as you can get Hit: 5 Stars
I stumbled on this by accident while looking for another blues cd (big blues fan). I read about how Kenny Wayne Sheperd wanted to connect with these old blues pioneers and it sounded like it might be worth a try.He and his crew have put together one of the most entertaining documentories
I have ever seen. The cd is fantastic as well with track after track of pure blues. If you are a blues fan this DVD/CD combo is a must. You won't be disappointed.
Free Music Review: Amazing! Hit: 5 Stars
This is a must buy for anyone who is even moderately interested in the blues, KWS, or even American musical history! The music is outstanding, but the DVD is really what makes this special. It is consists of interviews with the musicians where they talk about their life, and also some jamming of course! I suggest watching the DVD while you are connected to your sound system (or good headphones)... sit back and enjoy! I hope this wins some awards.
