Free Music Review: To the Lighthouse! The triumphant return of Kevin Kane!

Having been a fan of Mr. Kane and his former band The Grapes Of Wrath, I eagerly unwrapped his new CD and stuck it into my car's discplayer as I drove over the Bay Bridge from Berkeley to San Francisco. True Pop (and Big Star fans) swim to the Lighthouse for it is truly a beautiful thing. As I passed the toll plaza and rolled up toward Treasure Island, I was immediately hooked by the clang and jangle of Last To Know which combined with the twinkling of the lights of San Francisco and majesty of the bridge. Suddenly I was riding with Chris Bell, the Posies and The Grays -- all blended together in Kane's personal Grapey Wrathness. And it's not all crunchy jangly rock either, there are some awesome ambiences and evocative instrumental passages too. This will be on my iPod and in my heart for some time.
