Free Music Review: Outstanding selection of songs, arrangements, and vocals
Hit: 5 Stars

I highly recommend this for all Darin fans. Darin was a unique talent whose life was cut short. Kevin Spacey has given all of these songs new life and unbelievable sound. Hopefully a new generation of people will be exposed to his music. When interviewed, Spacey said that these were all arrangements from Darin's personal papers. Also, he spared no expense on the musicians and recording studio (Abbey Road). He also said in interviews that he has recorded enough for at least another CD depending on how this one sells. I applaud Spacey for keeping Darin's memory and music alive. Every cut is a winner !! (great sax solo on "Splish Splash"; a tear jerking "Once Upon a Time" and a timeless "Simple Song of Freedom" are standouts, in my opinion). All in an environmentally friendly package (no jewel case).

Free Music Review: Thanks for the Memories from the old neighborhood
Hit: 5 Stars

My grandmother ran a bar in Bobby Darin's neighborhood. She lived on Ave. A, and we went in on the train every Saturday. I was five when Mack the Knife came out, and I remember playing it over and over on the jukebox and picking up sailors! I sang too, though it's only now I have learned the words! Mr. Spacey has lovingly crafted a beautiful tribute to this artist and to Lower Manhattan as it was in those days: I saw my grandma's building in the movie!Bobby Darin would have killed for Kevin's band and also for his engineer; this soundtrack is gorgeous and beautifully balanced. I played in a dance band as a youngster, so it's a great thing to be re-introduced to these tunes enhanced by modern technology. I should say I am distantly related to Sandra Dee through this same grandmother.

Free Music Review: wonderful
Hit: 5 Stars

I truly enjoyed this cd. kevin spacey does an amazing and impressive rendition of bobby darin songs and though completely different from darin's style, i would say that spacey's style is just as appealing. he would certainly do great as a musical star on broadway, and i would think that a big role for him would be such a hit. kevin spacey as bobby darin is thoroughly believable and his performances are mesmerizing.
i have seen the movie and loved it and can hardly wait to purchase it on dvd.
This is a truly great album of darin's songs, and in my opinion the only thing better would be if Clay Aiken would do an album of all Bobby Darin songs. he has sang dream lover and mack the knife and they were simply delightful.

Free Music Review: Beyond the Sea is a very entertaining soundtrack
Hit: 5 Stars

Beyond the Sea is an excellent soundtrack. I didn't know that Kevin Spacey could sing so well. He croons the songs of Bobby Darin so well, I thought I was listening to the man himself. This CD put me in such a good mood. I can't wait to see the movie now. My favorite track is Mack The Knife which was a hit for Bobby Darin in 1959. I also loved the song Beyond The Sea. It is one of those classic songs I always hear at dances and parties. I love the sincerity in Kevin Spacey's voice on the track Simple Song of Freedom. Dream Lover is another standout track that I recognized on this CD. It is a very romantic song and one of Bobby Darin's biggest hits. Beyond the Sea is a very entertaining soundtrack.

Free Music Review: Kevin Spacey can really sing
Hit: 5 Stars

I watched the movie "Beyond the Sea" and it was neat. I've always known Spacey to be an excellent actor. I heard of Bobby Darin when reading Michael Buble's 1st CD notes. I love big band music and music of that era: Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, and Ella Fitzgerald. Spacey does not attempt to be a complete duplicate of Bobby Darin, but gives us the essence of that type of music for that era. His voice is lower keyed (toward Dean Martin) and he sings really well. It's funny because people think of Spacey as one of today's great actors but he can really sing. I loved this CD. The music and sound is excellent and Kevin and the band put a good energy into the songs.
