Free Music Review: My Life 2007
Hit: 5 Stars

I started listening to this album intially back in October and my first thought was "Eh". Then about the second time, I listened to it again and actually started getting into it. You listen to this thinking you're going to get the Keyshia Cole from the last album and you do....but she has matured ALOT on this album. The lyrics are Keyshia cole but it's a certain quality about her voice and her phrasing that brings you back to those Quiet Storm days of Anita Baker and Sade that made me fall in love with this album. You hear it in "I Remember" and "Was It Worth It". She is still assertive but she's not as blunt and as aggressive as the first album. She knows how to work and ride a groove which is evident on the first single "Let It Go" and the second single "Shoulda Let You Go" which she goes hard on that groove. She shows her vulnerability like she wears it on her sleeve in bittersweet melodies on "Fallin' Out" and her maturity as a woman and person on "Heaven Sent" and "Work It Out". She's still upfront on "Didn't I Tell You" (which is one of the best on the CD), "Give Me More" and "Got To Get My Heart Back". She has alot of different moods and layers on this album; alot more than the last one and you can really connect with this album and her voice is BANGIN' of course. And a bonus, her duet with Anthony Hamilton; I was a little hesitant but curious as to how the two would sound together on the same round and it works out pretty good on what sounds like a Natalie Cole sample. "Losing You" is like that cherry on top and they both did it well on this song.
The album is a whole is 5 stars all the way; She's really stepped up her artistry, lyrical wise and vocally. I couldn't help but get that "My Life" from it; Keyshia has just filled in that number two spot behind Mary with this album.

Free Music Review: Stepping up her game
Hit: 5 Stars

on Keyshia's 2nd cd. It is evident that she's improved in vocal delivery, song arrangement and writing on this one. A more subdued but still very effective vocal delivery by her this time lets people know that she doesnt have to scream like crazy to deliver the song the way she wants to.

I'm liking this cd more with each listen to it. Despite a couple tracks that just did nothing for me like "Didn't I Tell You" it doesnt feel like Too Short brought anything to this song...it was okay on her part. But not really anything i would listen to more than a time or two everything though on the cd is more than good its all gravy.

With tracks like:

Let It Go (with Missy & Lil Kim and the remix version w/TI, Missy & Young Dro)

Fallin' Out
Give Me More
I Remember
Shoulda Let You Go w/Amina
Heaven Sent
Got To Get My Heart Back
Work It Out

"Just Like You" is crammed with songs that are both radio ready and at the same time. They don't have to be because they stand on their own and would be fine if it didnt happen. But we know that this cd is going to blow up..."Let It Go" is already number 2 on the singles chart and the album "Just Like You" is number 2 on the Billboad Top 200 album chart as well. So we know where this is going and that Keyshia is an artist that is making much headway and will be around for awhile doing things her way.

But also still being "Just Like You".

Free Music Review: BRING US HOME BABY
Hit: 5 Stars

I like many other people have been turned off R&B music in recent years because of the garbage that has been released. The problem I have with music in general is that every artist is following one formula,so I have no options.I turn on the radio and every song sound's exactly the same, and I say to myself what happened to music and who's responsible for this mess.I understand that there's politic's, racism and all that garbage but at the end of the day if we don't buy that garbage then it will no longer be produced.WE have been and must continue to demand a better quality of life as a people and our music is very I repeat very important to us as a people.I want to thank the people who have been listening to our request because this album is a banger. The first feeling I got when I put this album on was man this how music used to be, because it made me feel good.this is album is honest and raw and you can feel her emotion's through the sound wave's coming through the speaker's.The subject matter is as real as it get's but at the same time does'nt(D.C.) degrade us as people.
Now we come to her voice WOOOOW.....her voice is heaven sent,I mean it is absoloutly beautiful,HER VOICE make's you relax, give's you a massage, and make's passionate love to you.The beat's are incredible so you can dance all night with your shorty. THANK YOU keyshia for giving us music the way it is suppose to be done, and please continue to do it your way. PEACE!

Free Music Review: "A long awaited solid and concrete album"
Hit: 5 Stars

This album definitely illustrates her growth, progress, and skill in her career and in life. She has taken vocal coaching and has really allowed herself to express her pain and struggle lyrically, which is truly a unique gift. Keyshia's album by far is phenomenal. I can actually say that "I love all of the songs on the album". There I said it. I cannot say the same for many others. I strongly believe that she will prosper and be very successful as an artist and an icon and role model. She represents a lot of us urban youth. She does so with a sincere attitude, yet proves that despite her upbringing and past, she can perservere and be the voice of much of America. The greatest thing about her music is that it belongs to her. She writes and co-produces her own. That is something many successful artists never achieve. Like I mentioned before, I absolutely adore her entire album, however there are five songs that I adore the most and there are:

1. Got To Get My Heart Back

2. Losing You (Feat. Anthony Hamilton)

3. Work It Out

4. Heaven Sent

5. I Remember

7. Shoulda Let You Go (Intro. Amina)

8. Just like You

9. Fallin Out

10. Just Like You

Free Music Review: One of the Best R&B albums in a while!
Hit: 5 Stars

As of this year there are only three R&B albums (out of probably 12) from last year that I'm still listening to and hearing more reasons why I really like them. And that is Alicia Keys "As I Am", Ledisi's "Lost & Found (People don't sleep on that album. It's grown and sexy.)and this nice work. I'm still feeling some songs from Mario's "Go" and Lyfe Jennings' "Lyfe Changes" right now but for albums I can listen to all the way through, these three are the way to go. Okay everybody wants to compare the direction Keyshia is taking musically to Mary J. Blige in her My Life/Share My World/Mary vibe but I disagree. Keyshia (and her record label) wanted to give her a more polished approach than her first album (which was good but "rough" around the edges in more ways than one). The results was this. She approaches ballads in more smooth approach (I Remember) versus what she did with "Love" (I like that song but you know she oversang that). The singles were all great. The best being the acoustic "Heaven Sent". I also love "Let it Go". Sample is overplayed but she pulled it off. And I really like "Give Me More" and "Falling Out". The main point of this review is that the singles were hot, and if you like them you should definitely pick her album.
