Free Music Review: Pleasantly Surprised

When Kid Rock first had commercial success with Devil Without A Cause, I wasn't particularly impressed. It seemed to be the era of the white rapper and the boyband, and as far as the white rappers went Eminem was far superior. I was in high school at the time, but somehow Kid Rock just wasn't for me. Something about him and his backup group reminded me of a circus sideshow. There was a midget in his group. The drummer was a woman (I think). And the star was a white rapper. It just seemed like a gimmick. Well, it's 10 years later and I think it's safe to say my tastes have matured. I have learned to appreciate some of the songs on Devil Without a Cause, and I don't mean this as an example of my tastes maturing. But, I was extremely surprised with Rock and Roll Jesus. I got it 2nd hand from a friend who warned me "There's only like one good song on it." I had heard the song Amen on MTV once (I rarely listen to the radio or watch TV.) But I was blown away when I listened to the CD. In fact, I have to be honest. I haven't made it through the whole thing yet. I keep having to go back because the first six songs are so good I just can't help myself. I would encourage anyone to listen to those first six songs at least before you make up your mind NOT to buy this cd. It is really good.Free Music Review: It's an addicting CD

All I can say is that this is such a complete piece of work. From begining to end it is just straight forward rock n roll. Kid Rock is a very talanted man. He moves thru so many styles in this one CD. He is a living contradiction in music. That me the appeal to so many people. He relates to the redneck, the soul singer, the southern rocker, the gospel, and the rapper. His live show is just awesome. I was privelidged to see him in the show at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, Ga. It was a extremely small venue ( 2400) for a act like his. He is the consumate showman. He lives what he sings. I love the honesty in this CD.

I have always liked a couple of songs Kid Rock did (Cowboy, Photgraph) but really wasn't expecting to like most of this CD. I gave it a listen at the local CD store and was blown away. With the exceptions of tracks 5 and 6 (I really don't want to hear how bad he wants to "F" someone), this is an outstanding album. Catchy lyrics and fun rifts coax you in and you find yourself singing along. Quite a pleasant find.Free Music Review: Great Rock n Roll

This is probably one of the best CD's I've purchased in many moons. I was getting a little tired of what the world of music had to offer. Kid Rock gets it !!! Music is suppose to make you forget your worries. This album has a little bit of everything for everyone, so dust off your air guitar and ROCK ON
