Free Music Notes for Rock n Roll JesusFree Music Review: Kid Rock Really Kicks some Tail With This Record!!! Hit: 5 Stars
When I first learned that Kid Rock was releasing a new record I was a little Skeptical at first. I was not a huge fan of his last record, and was not quite sure what to expect, but I have to say, when I bought this and only paid 7.99 for it, I was completly blown out of the freakin' water!!! There is not one bad track on this whole 12 track album. I was not expecting very much and man am I still shocked at how great this album is, even my wife who hates most rock music likes this record, and thats saying something. Now onto the record itself.
1. Rock N Roll Jesus 10-10 This is kind of a 70's rock track, big hooks and great sing along chorus. At first I thought what the heck is this crap, but after a couple listens it really grows on you.
2. Amen 10-10 At first listen you will probably be like, isn't this a little odd Kid Rock singing about how messed up the world is? The message of this song comes in loud and clear then and you think you know what he's right. Good ballad I hear it's going to be his next single.
3. All Summer Long 10-10 This song starts with a sample of Warren Zevon's Werewolves Of London, and goes into an autobiographical account of Kid's life, so I am taking away from the lyrics. The chorus also samples Lynard skynards Sweet Home Alabama. This was the first song I actually thought was really good. People knock this song for its un-originality, but what the heck, people cover and sample other people's work all the time. It's a good song.
4. Roll On 10-10 Well this is about the only song I can say I don't play all the time, it's a good ballad, but it's kind of long and kind of tires me out, but none the less I still gave it 10 out of 10.
5. So Hott 10-10 Well here it is, the reason I bought the record and the albums first single. Great hard rock song, crank this baby up and blare it out! I say enough good song.
6. Sugar 10-10 This song is a kick back to Kid Rocks rap/rock past. Great song the whole way through, this is also my wifes fav off the album, don't know why, but she likes it.
7. When You Love Someone 10-10 This is a really heart felt type of ballad, great song and very up lifting, I really liked it the first time I heard it.
8. New Orleans 10-10 Now this is really an interesting song, I went to New Orleans back in 2001, and this song reminds me of the big easy! Good road song.
9. Don't Tell Me You Love Me 10-10 This is my favorite song off the record, it is straight ahead rock and roll, kind of an outlaw song!! Great song for an action movie!!
10. Blue Jeans And A Rosary 10-10 Well now this is my favorite ballad off the record. This is kind of like the song Picture from a few years ago, I can see if he ever releases this as a single, it will be played on every radio station in the country. Very catchy and you will like it trust me!
11. Half Your Age 10-10 Can we say country music anyone? If this song is not about Pamela Anderson I don't know what is. Good song, funny lyrics and easy to like.
12. Lowlife (Livin' the high life) 10-10 I guess this was a bonus track, its not listed on amazon, but it is on my record so I am going to tell you about it, this song cracks me up, and reminds me of some people I have met in my life. Give this baby a listen and you will laugh you tail off!!
Well there it is my review of Kid rocks new record. This record in my own opinion is his very best, this is even better than Devil Without A Cause. Do yourself a favor and go buy this record, you will not be disappointed trust me!!!
Rock n Roll Jesus PosterRock Is Back. After 22 million records sold in the US and a three year hiatus, Kid Rock is back with the brand new album 'Rock N Roll Jesus'. Kid Rock hustled in the Detroit underground for over ten years before he burst into the mainstream in 1999 with the timeless rock anthem "Bawitdaba." Other hits like "Cowboy" and "American Bad A**" followed while ballads like his "Picture" duet with Sheryl Crow and "Only God Knows Why" helped to propel him forward as one of the greatest artists of our time. His latest offering Rock N Roll Jesus is no exception, running the gamut from hard rock to hip-hop to country and soul. Of the album, which Rock co-produced with Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls, My Chemical Romance), he says: "I am proud of every single song on this record. It works from start to finish." Kid Rock Photos More from Kid Rock Devil Without A Cause [EXPLICIT LYRICS] | Cocky [EXPLICIT LYRICS] | Kid Rock [EXPLICIT LYRICS] | Live Trucker [EXPLICIT LYRICS] [LIVE] | The History of Rock [EXPLICIT LYRICS] | Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast [EXPLICIT LYRICS] | Kid Rock maintains a remarkable propensity for wearing his contradictions on his sleeve, and more than anything he's previously released, Rock n Roll Jesus finds fuel in unresolved opposites. Is he a hard-core chauvinist ("Half Your Age") or a would-be gentlemen ("When U Love Someone")? Is he a God-fearing everyman ("Blue Jeans and a Rosary") or a bohemian hero ("So Hott")? These questions are nothing new, even if the album at hand takes them to freshly delirious extremes. Ever since he first began shedding his rap/rock posture to be the next Ted Nugent, Kid Rock has constructed his public persona out of full-frontal ambivalence: race, class, sex, religion, money, whatever it takes. This album's bookends--the title song and "bonus" track, "Lowlife (Living the Highlife)"--demonstrate all this irreconcilable nonsense in no uncertain terms, but all his polar wobbling is at least stabilized by a firm commitment to southern-styled rock, tinged at times with gospel, blues, a lingering need to rap ("Sugar"), and a rare, soul-fed instrumental jambalaya ("New Orleans"). In the end, Kid Rock may be a remarkable self-promoter, but a musical Messiah he is not. --Ernesto Sánchez (People en Español )
