Free Music Review: Even Better Than Vol. 1

So upon hearing the first soundtrack I wondered how he could top both the film and the soundtrack. Though I feel the films are true equals, it's the Volume 2 soundtrack I can listen to the most without skipping tracks. I remember hearing "Goodnight Moon" by Shivaree on the radio a few years back and loved it, but then it disappeared from the airwaves, so I'm glad to finally have it here. I first heard "Can't Hardly Stand It" on a Cramps albums and never heard the Charlie Feathers version until now. Great stuff. Another favorite is "L'Arena" by Ennio Morricone, a song which I think should be played at graduations, weddings and funerals, listen and you'll see what I mean. And you can't forget Johnny Cash, rest in peace.

There are other great songs too, but these are the stand-out cuts. And another thing that I appreciated on this soundtrack that I didn't like about the first was the lame RZA rap. It seemed too misplaced on the Vol. 1 soundtrack and it was always something I had to skip over. On Vol. 2 RZA is back but is buried in the back of the CD as a hidden track. It's good that I can listen to the whole album without the interruption of that garbage.

There are some songs from the movies that didn't make either of the CDs, but all the ones that stick in your head are here. And I assume somewhere down the line a more comprehensive soundtrack will come down the pike. But don't let that keep you from getting this. There's too much great music, and variety at that, to miss out on.
