Free Music Notes for Dusker AlbumFree Music Review: The best album from 2007 that I heard first in 2008 Hit: 5 StarsDusker is an ambient-electronic record by a rather unknown outfit called Kiln, a 3 piece group that apparently does not tour and stays pretty much off the radar.
There are a lot of influences in their style of music; I hear elements of quite an eclectic array of different musical styles- from ambient, electronic, classical, rock, hip-hop, chillout- all boiled into one so seamlessly and stylishly with an emphasis on fuzzy, analog sounds that incite feelings of nostalgia- you'd think these guys would be huge and have a much larger following. They have really harnessed quite a skill of composing beautiful electronic tracks over the years since their first album was released about 10 years ago.
I only wish I had heard of them before because this album is truly one-of-a-kind, it never lets up or gets boring. In fact, I'd go out on a limb and say that this is the best electronic album I've heard since Boards of Canada's 'Music Has a Right to Children' (which also happens to be my favorite album of all time). It's that good. From the My Bloody Valentine inspired tone of 'The Colorfreak' to the calm and vibrant vibes of 'Airplaneshadows', there are appealing tracks on this album for anybody that can call themselves a fan of ambient/chillout music. Let it be the tune of your morning commute for weeks without sounding the slightest bit stale.
Favorite tracks are 'Templefrog' and 'Aireplaneshadows'. Recommended for fans of Boards of Canada, Ulrich Schnauss, Yppah. Also if you can find their Sunbox EP check out the track 'Ghost'.
