Hit: 3 Stars

I was heavily anticipating this release from King's X, upon getting it yesterday and listening to it like 12 times already, all I can say really is they tried something new. Not that it's bad, although most of the tracks seem to be leftovers from indivdual side projects, it still is decent. However, as a follow-up to Ogre Tones ... I was a little disappointed really. Just not as hard-hitting or as progressive for me. Pray For Me is a good track, but most of the songs I liken to "the softer side of King's X." Not that this is bad, much like Ear Candy, the textures are rich, although the guitar isn't as inspiring as the aforementioned or on Ogre. Dug's voice is still amazing and full of energy, but Ty's tracks seem to be better composed and full of more emotion and vibrance, Repeating Myself shines as his entire Rock Garden collection does. Jerry is solid and probably less interested in more difficult gymnastics since his move to Jersey, but he's still one of the all around best drummers of all time. Stand outs: Pray For Me, Repeating Myself, Alright, Free, Move, Stuck, Go Tell Somebody and No Lie. All-in-all not bad and if you're a X-head, you'll enjoy it and have to have it, I did.
