Free Music Notes for Kingdom HeartsFree Music Review: Spellbinding, breathtaking, and just plain wonderful. Hit: 5 Stars
Although met with scrutiny, KINGDOM HEARTS turned out to be easily one of the best games available for the PS2, not to mention one of the most heartfelt. Obviously no expense or effort was spared in this tremendous labour of love, a fact which is brought to light even stronger by this impressive double-CD set.Although it has been available in Japan for quite some time now (I got mine in September of 2002), it's just now making its debut on Amazon.com and I can't begin to recommend it enough. Just one listen to a few seconds of the music stripped away from its accompanying game will impress anyone who aren't even enchanted by games: sweeping through a huge panorama of moods from the gentle wistfulness of the opening "Dearly Beloved" to the motion picture-style epic quality of the main theme that moves you with all the grace and dramatic sweep of a traditional Hollywood score, the KINGDOM HEARTS soundtracks swells with effortless varity offering both the gentle and the complex. It even has a pop song written specifically for it (translated "Simple and Clean"). And yes, KH fans, it does have every piece of music in the game. And even more so: Disc 2 sports the bonus cuts "Having a Wild Time (Previous Version)" and "Destati". Because the game itself is so moody, the musical variety here is guaranteed to never be dull. You get traditional Disney ("Mickey Mouse March"... yes, THAT Mickey Mouse March) and the more recent ("Under The Sea", "This is Halloween") and new touch-ups of Disney faves created for perfect mood and atompshere as opposed to being merely a simple carbon copy of the original ("Winnie The Pooh") mixed with the absolutely spellbinding new compositions: tracks such as "The End of The World" inspire genuine awe with their delicate arrangements and choir vocalizations, and both "Hollow Bastion" and its accompanying battle track "Scherzo di notte" use orchestration to its fullest extention with feelings of fear, drama and desperation. This huge set is worth every penny. If you enjoy the game, you MUST get this, no excuses. Also, if you happen to be merely a longtime Disney admirer who hasn't played the game yet (as I was when I first heard this one) then by all means check it out anyway! You will love every moment of it, I promise you. Well, maybe not the "Mickey Mouse March" or "Under The Sea" since everyone has gotten so sick of hearing those ones so darn much, but everything else. So why are you still sitting there merely reading this? Don't you understand? You've got to check this one out. It OWNS you! ;)
Free Music Review: Great music for a great game. Hit: 5 Stars
Kingdom Hearts, released by Squeenix (Square Enix, for the non-video game junkies) in 2002, was hailed as one of the best RPGs of the year. It was a landmark achievement, being one of the first time that two media giants (Square Enix and Disney) collaborated on an RPG game. Although met with mixed public appeal, it received rave reviews all across the board.
However, I'm not here to talk about the game. I'm here to talk about the soundtrack.
The music in the game is brilliantly orchestrated, from remixes of classic music from movies such as Aladdin and The Nightmare Before Christmas, among others. There are also mixes of Final Fantasy music incorporated in the game. The leading composer, Yoko Shimomura, deserves a standing ovation for his work in the game, including the unforgettable piano melody at the starting screen ("Dearly Beloved").
Also featured in the game are songs by the Japanese pop sensation, Hikaru Utada. Her chill-inducing voice soothes you in such songs as "Simple and Clean" and "I Love You". Although her music doesn't show up too often (mainly just at the beginning and end), the little that you hear is enough to make you want to import one of her CDs.
Aside from the covers of Disney classics, brilliant arias, and pop blowouts, there's a great helping of original music. In the hub world of Traverse Town, a mid-tempo jazz tune is playing in the background, and it is a nice catalyst to the fast-paced action met in other worlds. Also of note is the music featured in a world known as Hollow Bastion. The music is almost chilling, and serves as a sign of things to come as you venture inside this twisted castle. The music featured in the credits is also of note for its brilliance. I've already mentioned the great piano theme at the beginning, and that is arguably the best bit of music in the game, despite being a little over a minute long.
All in all, I would recommend the soundtrack 100%. There's just too much good music to pass it up.
Free Music Review: A Darkend Heart shall be filled with Light. Hit: 5 Stars
I must admit, I am not the best when it comes to RPG's and Viedo Games, but with KH, it was a whole 'nother story. KH was an amazing game and the Music is beautiful in it. The first song that really stuck out for me was 'Desati' ("You Awake"). I didn't relize until later that is actually had words. To me, It almost sounds like Church chanting. For me, personaly, I enjoy Chanting Music and Desati really shows the power of it.
Aside from Desati, another song that is very good is 'Hikari' and 'Simple & Clean'. I love the fast, and slow versions of each. They are really beautiful and have a beautiful Singer singing them. Miss Utada Hikaru. She really emphasizes them in making them her own. They are unlike any song I have heard before. They are very nice to listen to, if you listen to them enough, you'll be singing them without even knowing it. Scary huh? ^__^
Most people I know really don't like Soundtrack Music, but I find it very relaxing. It is nice to listen to.
The other songs I like are 'Kairi I'; 'Kairi II'; and 'Kairi III'. They are truly beautiful and have very good piano in them. 'Dearly Beloved' is also a good Piano song as well.
'K, know this will sound so weird, but the Little Mermaid world Battle Theme *Cannot remember name at moment* Rox! I am not kidding. My friend came over singing it one day and then, she got me singing it to. Everytime someone sings it and doesn't relixe it, we laugh or heads off. It's just one of those weird songs that always stay with ya. Listen to it and you'll see what I mean.
All in all This soundtrack is Great. Although I don't have the money at the time to buy it, I listen to it all the time, playing my game and listening to samples. Sometimes, I go to a world that has a good song in it, pause it, and just listen to it in the loop it is in. I hope this helps you out. Don't forget... BUY KH2! ^__^ Byez.
Free Music Review: NOT for all disney fans! Hit: 5 Stars
this is a soundtrack of Kingdom Hearts the videogame (a collaboration between square enix and disney). it should NOT be recommended for all fans of Disney! it should only be recommended to the fans of this game! all of you people out there that think this is for fans of disney or saying that they should have let the "crud" out are stupid. it includes every song on the game, and most of them are serious, dark, instrumental songs. not all of them are happy cheery disney songs. SO if you loved the game and the music didnt drive you insane while you were playing it (curse that annoying destiny island music!) then i would recommend it to you. if you like disney, and have NEVER PLAYED THE GAME, THEN DON'T BUY IT! ODDS ARE YOU WONT LIKE IT! my best advice: Listen to the 30 second samples and see if you like them! sheesh!
ANYWAY the music is amazing and beautiful. whenever i listen to it i think of the game and all the memories of me and my friends playing it. it has some disney songs (NOTE: the disney songs DONT have vocals in it either. like "under the sea" or "this is halloween", its just an instrumental version of it). i absolutely LOVE simple and clean on here- all the versions! that song is amazing. Utada Hikaru is such a talented singer!
also, if you like this CD, i would recommend getting the CD for Kingdom Hearts II. it has more serious darker songs on it then the first one, so if you like that style, get the second one too! and the KHII CD has ~passion~ opening theme, ~passion~ ochestral version, and ~passion~ after the battle (i personally like ~passion~ opening theme the most- its more upbeat). but, they dont have the english version "Sanctuary" on that CD (as far as i know) so that could be a reason for you to wait for the KHII soundtrack to be in english (i am!)
Free Music Review: Wow! 5 stars isn't enough! Hit: 5 Stars
Wow! I loved this product. It was well worth the $20 that I paid. It had excellent quality music from the original "Kingdom Hearts" Play Station 2 game. I listen to the music everyday on my iPod. Kingdom Hearts had most all of the songs that I had wanted. It has world music, battle music, boss music, and other cool music. The only song that I didn't find was the song that plays when you fight Sephiroth, which I was kind of disappointed because that was one of my favorite songs. Otherwise, this was a great product.
Oh, and don't listen to some of the other reviews, because some of them said that the music was in Japanese. I was afraid at first because I wanted the songs like Simple and Clean to have the English lyrics. Well, the other reviews were WRONG, because when I bought this product from Amazon.com, the lyrics were in English.
For all of you out there that have played Kingdom Hearts, are playing Kingdom Hearts, ever will play Kingdom Hearts, or just like action packed music, then you should buy Kingdom Hearts Original Soundtrack, from Amazon.com, because a lot of other places sell the Japanese version. I hope that you like listening to Kingdom Hearts Original Soundtrack! Enjoy!
P.S. If you liked this product, then buy Kingdom Hearts, Vol. 2! It has even more great songs!
