When i first heard this I kept saying, "man, these guys have guts." This album is about three big steps away from what they have done so far but they did it with the same class as they have since they started. Don't expect as much dirty high speed rock, but definatly expect the same great song writting and the intensity that you love from the Kings of Leon. You can't slap a genre on it, but the Kings of Leon play with a lot of different sounds, formats, and moods on this album. The musicianship has noticably improved and the lyrics are as good as they have ever been. Being a huge Kings of Leon fan, I had to listen to a few songs over again before they grew on me, but there isn't a real weak spot on the album.
If you like the Kings of Leon, do NOT fear this album, its worth your money. If you havent been a fan of the Kings of Leon before, check it out. Its just different enough you may find something you like here. As long as they stay alive and stay together, I really think this band will put out great albums over and over again.
