Amazing album, almost any song could be a radio single.
Totally different to their debut but still great.
Cold desert is an amazing song.

Highlights on this album for me are: "Crawl", "Manhattan", and "Use Somebody" (pre-overkill on the radio).
I think this is a relatively solid album that got mixed in with a bunch of garbage, which is what took me so long to get to this one. There are some terrible songs on this album and there are some songs I never get tired of.
The distinction with this band is definitely the vocals. Very different, and in some cases, its what makes them awesome/suck. Some songs are perfect for his voice (i.e. Sex On Fire, Crawl) and some songs just make him sound like a dying animal. But that's just my taste I suppose. If you can get the album cheap, go for it. Otherwise, I would preview songs and buy them individually.

I like to think my musical tastes are pretty diverse, and sophisticated. I like GOOD music, whether it be gospel, jazz, country, rock, pop, techno, whatever. With that said, I was introduced by a friend to this Kings of Leon album. Having a Zune pass, I was able to put the entire album to my Zune for free, and listened right away. I got through the album, and I was honestly left shrugging in disbelief. I heard RAVE reviews about this album, and honestly, I just don't get it. I don't get what I'm supposedly missing. This album offers little to nothing in the way of anything that interests or captivates me.
Perhaps it's the lead singers voice. I was told, "it takes some getting used to", but after numerous listens, I still think he's a terrible vocalist, and I find his voice more irritating than anything else.
I tried to like this album.... even listened several times, when it initially made a horrific impression on me. But alas, I just truly think this album is trash, despite the rave reviews and the critical acclaim. It leaves me thinking, "What am I missing???"

Well... I am well over that (4.3x13) and I still get a thrill from good music!
