Free Music Review: Fight On!

You may call me 'biased.' You may call me 'one sided.' You may even call or label me a 'Kirk-head', but I have yet to receive a project from Kirk Franklin that I did not like. His latest effort is another great body of work.
"The Fight Of My Life" will be heralded as one of Kirk's best efforts. In my humble opinion, what sets Kirk Franklin apart from many of today's gospel artists is that he continues to redefine and reinvent himself. He continues to learn and remain a student of life. His ministry serves its purpose and that is, to affect the culture. There are far too many gospel artists who bring nothing to the table; their albums offer nothing, but their name. Kirk's productions, on the other hand, are always a breath of fresh air with insightful lyrical content that share encouragement, light and hope. Kirk does not put himself on a pedestal and neither do I, but the gift God has given this young minister, is simply undeniable.
You'll find on this project that Kirk has enlisted some great assistance; included here are the talents of Myron Butler, Anthony Evans, Doug & Mel Williams, Rance Allen, Doc Powell, Ann McCrary, Da' T.R.U.T.H., TobyMac, Sheri Jones-Moffett, John Gray and Melonie Daniels. Not to be overlooked is Kirk's current crop of vocalist: Ashley Gilbert, Anaysha Figueroa, Nikki Ross, Issac Carree and Charmaine Swimpson - each offer a talent that is nothing short of phenomenal! Kirk may not be a singer himself, but he definitely knows a singer when he hears one.
I love the entire CD, but my standout faves and the tracks that are sure to leave a lasting impression on you are: "Help Me Believe", "Hide Me", "How It Used To Be", the very churchy, "He Will Supply" and the expertly orchestrated, "Chains." Throughout this CD, you will note that Kirk is sharing with us that this Christian walk is in no way an easy one. Kirk is not ashamed in admitting that the road has a pothole or two and even some bumps. It is indeed "A Fight."
