This album only underscores what a huge loss Maccoll's death was. A funky, fun mix of cuban jazz samples with the occasional rock groove, the fantastic lyrics on this album(both in English and Spanish) will alternately make you want to laugh and cry. The musicianship throughout is first rate.Whether you're already a fan or have just discovered this gem of a singer, you're in for a real treat. Rest in peace, dear Kirsty.

I bought this CD on a whim just wondering how accurate Amazon's "profiling" of my tastes might be. They are pretty good. This CD has a fun, in-your-face kind of feel that makes me smile when I hear songs like, "In These Shoes?" If you enjoy a bit of whimsy in your music, not to mention the pleasure of a most enjoyable voice, then give Kirsty a try. By the time I'd heard Kirsty's music, she wasn't alive to make any more of it. The first song I heard of her's was 'Treachery'. I loved it immediately and had to hear more. Tropical Brainstorm is excellent! Mostly upbeat and lively with a couple of slower tracks as well. This is one of those CD's you can just put in and let it play...how many can you do that with? I had to drive for 3 hours and all I listened to was this amazing album. I did not notice the time go by with songs like 'Us Amazonian' groovin rhythms, 'Here Comes that Man Again' happy beat and unforgettable 'In these shoes?', delightful song story that I played over and over. Being a big fan of just about anything with a Latin beat, I find Tropical Brainstorm to be a pure delight. I first heard "in these shoes" on the radio and thought I just had to have this CD to hear what the rest was like. I wasn't disappointed! Every trac has a catchy beat that makes you want to get out of your chair and dance around the house. Love it.
