Kirsty MacColl has a gorgeous voice, and her songs are powerful and poignant. Don't think that all of these songs are like "In These Shoes," the most famous single on this CD. This album is beautiful, different, and so perfect. I highly recommend it. It is an excellent blend of the sensibilities that govern English pop and the fun that can be had with Cuban jazz. This was a gift for my dad, and he absolutely loves it. I wasn't familiar with Kirsty MacColl's work prior to purchasing this CD, but I found that it quickly grew on me with a number of smart, catchy, and all-around entertaining songs.
