Free Music Review: Good Effort to Rock Hit: 3 Stars
From the track listing, this looks like a potential killer-rock album. It rocks...but, sadly, not hard enough! A couple of good interpretations here. The opening track from Everclear is a good high-powered starter. Manson's version of AC/DC's 'Highway to Hell' is interesting. Unfortunately, it lacks the rockability of the original. It is the original songs here that still rule the album. Songs like 'Detroit Rock City', 'Iron Man', 'Running with the Devil', 'Shout it Out Loud' are good examples of classic rock for the new generation of rockers. However, the greatest disappointment is Kiss's new 'Nothing Can Keep Me From You'. A very 'un-Kiss' song. And it sounds too much like Aerosmith's 'Don't Wanna Missa Thing' (both written by Warren). I tried to shut my ears off to the lyrics and sing 'Don't Wanna Missa Thing' to the music of 'Nothing Can Keep Me From You'. And guess what? Most of the parts fit in nicely!!!
Free Music Review: 90's artists mixed with the 70's. Hit: 3 Stars
I liked the newer versions of songs on here like the donnas doing stutter and such but I really enjoyed the originals more. But it's great to have the runaways original song on this cd too. The movie was pretty cool in my book even if the lead character tries to steal a ticket from someone. Which put me off but the great music they played in the film soundtrack was better as one reviewer pointed out. Because thin lizzy was thin lizzy and most bands do a better job than cover songs do. But this is still a good cd with some good songs on it. Kiss puts a new ballad on this but should have put a new rocker on it too. Anyways , if you are a kiss fan you need this one in your collection. And if not, it's still a good cd to own because it's got good music on it.
Free Music Review: Detroit Rock City Soundtrack fails to exceed expectations Hit: 3 Stars
I am a very huge KISS fan and have been since 1989. I was so excited about this soundtrack. One because of the new Paul Stanley song and two because of the new version of "Detroit Rock City" that was supposed to be re-recorded for the soundtrack. Contrary to desired expectations, the new "Detroit" is nowhere to be found; instead, we are entertained with two old KISS songs. I love these two songs very much, but these two particular songs are on at least three other KISS albums. Take this into account with some very poor cover songs, and all you have left is just another promotional "flop" that is used by record companies to sell albums and movie tickets.
Free Music Review: looking for name of song not on soundtrack Hit: 3 Stars
I like the music of this soundtrack and the movie, but there was one that was not on. Can anybody tell me what the name of the song was and who it was by, it was in the beginning or around the beginning of the movie when the kid is getting off the bus? It's a cool rock song that I've heard on a classic rock station a few times but I never figured out who it was. Please if someone can tell me, e-mail me.Thanks!
