Free Music Review: Kittie; "Until The End"

Alright, so I've had this CD for less than a week but I'm certain I know which songs I love and which songs I don't like. I'll do a star review for each song.
"Look So Pretty" - The intro is basically too long and boring, but once you get past the intro, the song is fine. I have no complaints about this song really. This is also the longest song on the album, consuming 5 minutes and 29 seconds of our lives. - 3 out of 5 stars.
"Career Suicide" - Great song! I love the intro and I love the vocals and I love the lyrics! It's really good. I really don't like the bridge though. - 4 out of 5 stars.
"Until The End" - I'll start by stating the obvious saying this is the title track. It's amazing! There's no growling at all throughout the song. It's done in the style of "In Winter", with slow-but-effective riffing. This is a Kittie classic, even if it doesn't include the signature growl. - 5 out of 5 stars.
"Red Flag" - Very catchy! It's really cool, one of my favourites on the album. This song combines a metal verse and bridge with a HUGE melodic chorus with nothing but singing in tune. Very clever song, and another Kittie classic. - 5 out of 5 stars.
"Sugar" - This is my favourite Kittie song ever. Never before have I heard such genius! It totally blew me away, it's sensational. This song starts off with a thrash-metal intro...Slowing down into a pounding beat with a fast tight riff. The outro is to die for! The bridge is probably my favourite part of the song, involving Morgan screeching the words "TAKING THE LONG WAY HOME!" then speaking the words "My heart still bleeds for you..." - 1000000 out of 5 stars!
"In Dreams" - Not a favourite of mine. It's melodic and yucky. Sure, "Career Suicide" is melodic and so is "Until The End" but "In Dreams" is far too radio friendly for my taste. Granted, it's not as disgusting as "Into The Darkness" but it's still bad. The verses aren't that bad, but the chorus is what made me dislike this song. - 2 out of 5 stars.
"Into The Darkness" - This song should be smited. It's awful. It's the first single from the album. It's absolutely terrible. I'm going to stop reviewing this song before I hit something. It's disgusting. - 0 out of 5 stars.
"Burning Bridges" - Jennifer, Morgan and Mercedes selected this as the hardest song on the album. Although it is quite hard, in my opinion "Sugar" is the hardest. This is a very cool song, I have nothing but love for it. Nothing's wrong with this song in the slightest, everything's perfect. I adore this song! - 5 out of 5 stars.
"Loveless" - This isn't a bad song. In fact it's good. It's another melodic one, but they got the formula right this time. - 4 out of 5 stars.
"Daughters Down" - I didn't like this song at first. I thought the digitally edited vocals were irritating but I love it now. It's not a classic, but it's not bad. - 4 out of 5 stars.
"Into The Darkness (Vocal Remix) - Okay this version is even worse than the original. Basically, if you weren't told this was Kittie and didn't see the video, you would think it was some beenie bopper band like a girl version of Busted or something. This is NOT Kittie and I'm disgusted with every aspect of this song. This song is a joke! - 0 out of 5 stars.
This CD receives 37 stars out of a possible 55, which isn't bad. The only complaint about this album is that disgusting song "Into The Darkness". It's definitely the worst song they have ever done. It's not the lyrics, it's the music in general. It's SO watered down Kittie. Muh. It's awful.
This CD isn't as hardcore as "Oracle" but it's good. On "Oracle", 8 out of the 11 songs were hardcore metal. This album just seems to be a radio-friendly attempt to gain more fans, which is stupid.
Nevertheless, I still love this album. It's very good and despite my dislike for one or two songs, I can listen to and tolerate all of them except "Into The Darkness". Ah well, maybe "Into The Darkness" can be a classic for the Spice Girls is they ever reunite.
Everyone has different opinions on the three Kittie albums. Some people still maintain "Spit" was their best album. Basically, I think they've improved with each album. If you have "Spit" and love it, yet dislike "Oracle", I recommend you don't buy this CD.
Oh and I almost forgot about the multimedia. If you put this disc in your computer, you have access to a 20 minute and 5 second long documentary-type footage. It was recorded at Longview Farm Studios and it has lots of interviews and inside looks at how the girls recorded the album! Jennifer really is a comic, Morgan's a sweetie and Mercedes basically comments on the music and we get to see some good drumming footage too.
Morgan really has improved on guitar and Mercedes has improved on drums.
Overall, it's a really good album. I guess this would be a good album to get yourself into Kittie if you're a new fan.
Ohh and HeidiKakes, you're a **** and you should get a life. Trust me, you're in dire need of either a life or some serious violence enflicted upon you. =)
