Free Music Review: Follow the LeadeR Hit: 5 Stars
Korn- How can a I put how awesome this band in 1,000 words? This hard hitting-hard rock band is pure amazement. Truth is as im writing this review im listening to KoRn right now. The problem with people today is they dont respect roots. Half the bands today wouldn't have their sound they do if it hadn't have been for KoRn. They were pioneers in the metal/hard rock stage of the 90's. They were infact one of the first bands to use down tuned 7-string guitars. The self-titled album had already been a hit, and Life is Peachy was a comedic genius of hard rock, why not come up with some hard hitting stuff? Follow the leader put what most bands dreamed about into music. It is a hard hitting style of beats and guitar riffs that put amazing lyrics sung by their own bag pipe playing Jonathan Davis make one great album. I personnally havent pulled it out of my CD player since I bought it. Listen, for all you people who don't like Korn, here's a tip, STOP LISTENING TO THEM AND HATING! Korn is simply the best band I've ever listened to and quite frankly this IS the best music I've listened to (in my opinion) All I can say is, great job guys, make a new CD like this one (although Take a Look in the Mirror was exceptionally great).
Free Music Review: Good Hit: 5 Stars
Yeah, this a pretty mad CD. What I find most amusing is how Korn now has to withstand all these rather spurious allegations of 'selling out'. Why? Who really cares who else is listening to their music? If music is good, it's good. I could care less if '12 year old sisters' are wearing their T-shirts. You're going to base your opinion of a band on their fans?I think you all need to take a good look in the mirror and wonder who the poseurs are - those who enjoy the music on this CD, or those who think Korn are selling out because they're popular and on MTV all of a sudden. Yeah, it's different if you genuinely think their music is watered down and they're not the same band they used to be. Fair enough, if that's your true evaluation, give this album one star. I personally don't see that their music has worsened (I own all their albums). They're evolving, just like all bands who are in it for the long haul. But if you dislike the music now JUST because they're popular - and you should be honest with yourself - then you can go back to finding up-and-coming underground bands, complain that no one recognises them, and then diss them as soon as they become popular. People get their kicks in different ways.
Free Music Review: A new kind of music is born - right before your eyes... Hit: 5 Stars
Having been nurtured on good ol' 70's and 80's rock and metal (Aerosmith, Sabbath, Ozzy, Priest, Maiden, etc.), I have to say that when I first heard KoRn, I was COMPLETELY dumbfounded. I had never HEARD anything like it before. The guitar, usually an instrument of MELODY, had become a roaring instrument of percussion. The vocals, in some brilliant passages, becoming the jittering and throbbing rants of a mental patient before receiving his meds. After listening to the CD a few times, thought, I'm genuinely IMPRESSED. KoRn represents a completely NEW genre of music. It's NOT metal, rap, hip-hop, or rock. The best way I can describe it is that it is the most TRIBAL, EMOTIONAL, ANGRY and INNOVATIVE music that I've ever heard. Sure, It's easy to just call it noise. But this is the kind of stuff that represents what music is all about - the naked expression of feeling, emotion, and experience. You might not care for the emotions or experiences communicated on KoRn's CD's, but you have to sit up and take notice. This is REAL. This IS new. And, unfortunately, that RAGE, ESTRANGEMENT, and ANGER effectively communicates how lot of young people are feeling today. Try it a few times. I DARE you...
Free Music Review: 1 of the only CDs by KoRn to be pleasing to a broad audience Hit: 5 Stars
KoRn is in my opinion one of the most creative bands ever. This CD captured the idea that if they wanted to really hit the charts, they can. It has a lot of catchy riffs and his inspiring, well-written lyrics are more easily heard on this one. They also spent more on the videos, which helped their exposure. There is a reason for that. Their self-titled album was supposed to be Raw, it is. Life is Peachy, Raw also, but hey wanted to play more so you can tell they care less if the general public likes it or not, which explains the song K#$@&, and Mr. Rogers. Those songs are clearly not put on there to make people happy. True KoRn fans LOVE 'peachy'. "Issues" takes some getting used to. It's still good though. Anyone who listened to "Untouchables" and didn't like it... needs to read the lyrics and listen to it again. That CD really proves that they ARE Untouchable. ONLY KoRn can come up with stuff this original. The producer needs to chill on putting so many effects on Jonathan's voice, he always sounds great. Because of that some of the lyrics are hard to hear. He really did an excellent job. Thoughtless is an incredible song. "Thumbing through the pages of my fantasies" (first line of "Thoughtless")
