Now i am sick of people saying KoRn sold out here because they didn't, people say that they sold out because of the sucess of freak on a leash and got the life Now before i give you my review on quite possible the best album to be released in 98, theres some thigns we must get out of the way i'm pissed about the sucess of freak on a leash not cause it sucked or the mainstream loved it but because there was a serious meaning to this song and the fans that thought they sold out didn't get it and neither did the mainstream crowd now on to the other single got the life now just hearing that the 1st time being a die hard KoRn fan made me cringe my 1st thoughts were o sh*t with a song like that they had to of sold out but then i heard it an it had nothing to do with being rich and now 1 more thing before the full review because of the sucess of freak on a leash & got the life there were alot of meaningful and emotinal tracks that got overlooked like, dead bodies everywhere, reclaim my place, justin, seed & my gift to you. Free Music Review: Phenominal (This is really, really good) Hit: 5 Stars
This is my favorite Korn album. It probably always will be since they don't seem to be releasing anything good anymore (Untouchables stunk). Anyway, all the songs are great. They all sound different, and they all sound good. And they are very weird. This is my review of each of the tracks:1-12) Silence ?/?- Well what can I say? It's just silence. The music starts on track 13. 13) It's On! 10/10- This rocks. One of my favorite songs on the CD. Great riffs, weird chorus, and nice special effects. 14) Freak on a Leash 10/10- This song was one of the hits. The bagpipes are great, and unlike in any other Korn song, the bagpipes were actually integrated into the rest of the tune. John growls a lot in this song, and it's funny (Korn is famous for growling). 15) Got the Life 10/10- Really catchy chorus. Disco-like beat. Real fast. The only part I don't like is the screaming at the start. This was a single too. 16)Uh...Well..Dead Bodies Everywhere 9/10- Honestly, I think that's a really stupid thing to name a song. At least it's a good one though! Creepy beginning. Creepy verses. Awesome chorus. Definetly worth a listen, but not as good as the first three (although some people think this is the best song on the CD) 17) Children of the Korn 5/10- Would be really good, but it swears way too much and is violent. Plus it's got some guy from Ice Cube in it. He's so dumb that this song is actually pretty funny (Listen to the "Attention all parents" at the start). 18) BBK 10/10- This rocks, but the guitar kind of gets annoying after a while. This song has some more of John Davis growling. 19) Pretty 6/10- Disturbing. Not happy. Seems violent, but it's really just scary. I think it's about murder or something. 20) All in the Family 1/10- Musically, it's great, but DONT LISTEN TO THIS! I REPEAT! DONT THIS LISTEN TO THIS! It consists entirely of the singer of Korn and Fred from Limp Bizkit insulting each other. Not friendly. Unintelligable. 21) Reclaim my Place 7/10- Good until he starts screaming "What the ...!" 22) Justin 15/10- Best song on the CD. This song is a hard rocker with a lot of cool sound effects, a great riff, and a bizarre bridge. Buy this CD. 23) Seed 8/10- Creepy. Good riff. Verses are awesome. The squeaky (helium?) growling near the end is so funny. 24) Cameltosis 8/10- Kinda rappy. Got the guy from Pharcyde in it. I dont know who he is. It's a decent song. Worth a listen. It's not as terrible as other people say it is. 25) My Gift to You 9/10- I love this song until the bridge where he screams violently. It almost sounds scottish. Secret) ????? NO NAME 8634863475634786/10- This is so HILARIOUS. You must hear this. Lots of high pitched yelling about money and how he's so rich, with interludes by a guy with a really low voice. Anyway, this is really good. Buy it if you like Korn or just Nu Metal. If you dont like any of those things, buy it anyway. By the way, i'm really 13.
Free Music Review: Not Korn's best, but still one of the greatest cds ever! Hit: 5 Stars
Follow the Leader is my second favorite Korn cd. This didn't match the raw power and emotion that their s/t had. But it comes pretty damn close. It starts on track thirteen. I heard it was because their s/t ended on track 12 and this cd was 'Following the leader'. But the s/t didn't come right before this, Life Is Peachy did (Another awesome Korn cd!). So I don't know... But anyways. Here is a breakdown of the songs:It's On - This song rocks! Probably my favorite, but I can't say that because pretty much all of the songs are my favorite. It's probably the most aggressive. Freak on a Leash - Korn's first single from their cds is always a hard hitting mosh anthem. Freak on a Leash is a bit softer than songs like Blind and No Place to Hide, but who cares? That's still pretty damn heavy! Got the Life - Korn's famous dance number. My friends don't like this song because it attracted all of the MTV poser people to Korn. It's still a good song! 'Get your boogie on' Dead Bodies Everywhere - This song rocks. It comes pretty close to achieving Blind's greatness, but it's still not as hard hitting... Oh well who cares? Great song anyways! Children of the Korn - Lots of people don't like this because it's rap. Hey, it's pretty cool! I'm also a big fan of Ice Cube, considering he's the only rapper I like. B.B.K - This song is always stuck in my head. It's got nearly every style melded into one. It's groovy, it's hard hitting... Can't stop listening to it. Pretty - Wow. This song's message is the most powerful message on the cd. And it's not the ending track either... Like Daddy and Kill You before it, this will bring tears to your eyes. All in the Family - This is the only other rap song I like on the cd. It's pretty funny, and Fred Durst shows he has talent! Reclaim My Place - I don't really listen to this song much. I don't know why. It's a cool song though. Lots of people like this one. Justin - I've been listening to this song non-stop for the past 3 days. It's got an awesome funk sound do it. The verses could have been a little bit better, but the awesome riffs make up for it! Seed - Like It's On, this could be my favorite song. It's a cool song, and I love the part in the middle where Jon starts doing his scat thing. This album has more scat singing than any other Korn album. Cameltosis - I don't like this song. Don't ask why, I just don't. But anyways, it's still pretty good, even though I don't like it. My Gift To You - This song is very disturbing... Jon has an interesting way of showing his affections for his ex wife... It's very gothic sounding. Love the bag pipes Earache My Eye - The hidden track is really cool. It's very catchy. If you don't want to listen to MGTY and just this, get it on mp3 like I did. Anyways, that's a rundown of the songs. Peace out Korn fans. BUY THIS CD!
Free Music Review: Revolutionary Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this album 2 years ago today. It was the first CD I had every bought, and even today, it is still my favorite. Most people view Korn as either: 1) Trashy music that uses vulgarity as their main approach. 2) Trendy music that sends a bad message to 'children these days' Neither of these are true. For all of the kids that go to my school and listen to Korn and say, "This music is cool because its hard and heavy..." I just turn around and ignore them. You can't just listen and say "this is an awesome song" you have to devour their music and feel it. Don't hear it, let it touch you. First of all, Korn is talented. With 2 guitarists and an extra string on their Ibanez guitars, Korn goes beyond that of traditional bands. Also they tune their guitars differently to make a unique sound. Fieldy, the band's bassist, uses some of the most unique methods of playing. He uses his bass to make a clicking percussion as well as the traditional deep sounding tune. Some people confuse his 5 string bass for a set of drums. Amazing. David, the drummer, uses unpredictable, yet balanced power drumming. He doesn't focus on just the cymbals or the lower pitched drums, but rather a medley of both to produce s vivid mental picture. Finally, Jon Davis, this man is nothing short of amazing. His lyrics are witty and THE most effective in transferring his emotional trauma. His performance is superb, he uses both forceful yelling and monotone whisper to convey his feelings. The five of them together have made their mark on the history of music, not just rock. They aren't a rock band, they are KORN. The CD is in my opinion, their best effort thus far. It starts off strong with It's On - showcasing Davis's ability to show different emotions with just 2 simple words "It's on" -Freak on a leash is a classic -So is Got the life -Dead bodies everywhere is a groovy, bass blasting tantrum. -Chilidren of the Korn is great for the Rap aficianado. -B.B.K. is a combining of genres to form a signature musical unity. -Pretty will almost make you cry, Davis is very effective -All in the family isn't the most wonderful song, but Durst can show some of his talent. -reclaim my place is deadly in its heated emotional struggle. -Justin is a wonderful tribute to a wonderful kid... also it is another mixing of genres -Seed is groovy in itself with the addition of fieldy's bass line. -Camelotosis is another Rap meets korn -My gift to you is amazing, bag pipes, opera like vocals, and instrumental applause. Korn is unique, each one of theri songs portrays a different mood, style, and feeling... don't get caught up in the trendiness... They aren't a satanic cult or a crazy, fear provoking band (which is the image that they have). Their legacy has begun. Experience Korn, then listen to their music.
Free Music Review: My Gift to You = Best song ever. Hit: 5 Stars
This is my second favorite KoRn cd. My favorite being Issues. This CD is a bit more "hip-hop" than their other albums, but it's still awesome. I'll do this track by track...13.) It's On! - Best opening track on a KoRn cd ever. Frickin' awesome. 5 of 5. 14.) Freak on a Leash - Catchy beat. This one was on the radio, and is a tad played out, but still good. 3 1/2 of 5. 15.) Got the Life - Really good beat. The verses are particularly good. Like Freak on a Leash, this one's a tad played out, but still good. 4 of 5. 16.) Dead Bodies Everywhere - One of my favorite songs on the this CD. Very hard and heavy song about John's parents. It's got a great intro, good verses, a great chorus, and an awesome bridge. This is a brilliant song. 5 of 5. 17.) Children of the KoRn - Rap song with Ice Cube. I'm a fan of rap, and this song is pretty good. It has a cool beat. Not the best song on the cd, but I'm not complaining. 3 of 5. 18.) B.B.K. - I actually didn't like this track much at first. I listened to it several times, though, and now I really like it. Great song. 4 of 5. 19.) Pretty - My least favorite song on this cd. It's a good song, but I just don't like it as much as the others. 3 of 5. 20.) All in the Family - A bash fest between Jonathan and Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit. Good song at first, but easily gets played out. 3 of 5. 21.) Reclaim my Place - Very good song. One of the faster songs on the album. 4 of 5. 22.) Justin - Song about a boy the band met through the Children's Wish Foundation or something like that. I like this song. It's got a very cool riff. 4 of 5. 23.) Seed - Second longest song on the album. I really like this song. It's quiet during the verses and loud during the chorus. Very good. 4 of 5. 24.) Cameltosis - I didn't like this song at all at first, but it's grown on me over time. Seems a bit repetitive, but still a good song. 3 of 5. 25.) My Gift to You - My favorite song on any cd, ever. It has bagpipes at the beginning. I believe the song itself is around 7 minutes long. Very emotional towards the middle. Very powerful song. I love it. Easily my favorite song on this whole cd. 5 of 5. 25.b.) Earache My Eye - Hidden track featuring Cheech Marin. It's a funny song with a really cool guitar riff. Jonathan's on the drums for this one, so that's cool. I don't generally like hidden tracks on cd's, but I really like this one. 5 of 5. Overall, this album is a work of art. Even though most look at it as KoRn going more in an "MTV direction," I don't really think so. It remains emotionally powerful, just like their other cd's. Pick this one up, immediately. "My Gift to You" alone makes this cd worth buying.
