Free Music Notes for Follow the LeaderFree Music Review: inhumanely incredible Hit: 5 Stars
korn is a batch of musicians unparelled to anyother. if i could place the leading nu-metal bands on a plot graph: staind would be 3x, mudvayne would be 2.5x, disturbed would be 2x. Korn is undefined. a straight vertical line. (despite their despical performance on untouchables due to their inexperience on a new area of nu-metal) korn makes music no other band can ever do.it's on: classic nu-metal, just adore the part where he says,"you see its my fault angels stabbing me inside..." 9/10 freak on a leash: a miracle from God, i've never heard anything so original, catchy, dark, and meaningful. (infinaty)/10 Got the Life: Stylish verses, repetitive chorus. kick-ass video. 8/10 Dead Bodies Everywhere: HEAVY chorus, soft verses. average song. 7.5/10 Children of the Korn: weird verses, very nice choruses and bridge. ice cube can rap with head and munky elegantly. 9/10 BBK: really cool song, another chorus that'll put a smile on your face. 8.5/10 Pretty: good 7/10 All in the Family: Not good at all, more like a rap song. slow and bulky chorus. it sounds terrible when you switch from hip hop to Breaking Metal. 5.5/10 Reclaim My Place: another average korn song. Bridge is basically a work of art, and ends with a bang. 8.25/10 Justin: a tribute to their biggest fan. sweet, but an abysmal song. 7/10 (good score to prove to the world how much FANZ UV KORN mean to them) Seed: Speechless (infinity)/10 Cameltosis: Cool music, rapping done by some unkown person. john davis just appears in the chorus. just fills up space for the album. 6/10 My Gift To You: Freaky, but Braw and Stylish in every way. scary as the song IOWA from slipknots latest album. 9/10 every korn album is blessing. Korn has a gift from God that no other group of men have. they truly wasted it with untouchables. But the previous 4 are masterpiecs that can't be missed by any metal fan. IF YOU'VE NEVER HEARD FREAK ON A LEASH OR SEED, THIS IS A DEFINATE MUST BUY. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!
Free Music Review: Korns second and most experimental effort Hit: 5 Stars
This is the album which catapulted Korn into the popular mainstream, and rightly so. This is undoubtedly an excellent album. 'Follow The Leader' is Korns most experimental album and their joint best, along with their 1994 debut album. The sound on Follow The Leader is more melodic than on their two previous albums, but Jonathan Davis's dark, moody lyrics are still fully evident. The real triumph of Follow The Leader is that it combines dark, moody, emotional lyrics with excellent, alt.metal musicianship. The fantastic 'Its On' opens the album, and is in my opinion the best track of the album. It begins with excellent riffs from Head and Munky, racing into Jonathan Davis's roaring chorous('ITS ON'), and culminating with a sublime bridge('nothing changes...just rearranges). This is followed by radio hits 'Freak On A Leash' and 'Got The Life'. 'Freak...' combines more excellent melodic riffs with a headbanging, riproaring chorous, with David Silveria's tribal-like drumming in abundance. 'Got The Life', another great song, begins with a disco-like drum beat and this song boasts the most 'sing-a-longy' Korn chorous of this album. It was on Follow The Leader that Korn further explored the merits of rap-metal, featuring Ice Cube on the track 'Children of the Korn' and Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit on the part-funny, part-stupid(some may say 'misogynistic' too)'All In The Family'. Munky and Head also use their guitars at times to make a record-scratching sound(A la Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine). Other stand-out tracks on Follow The Leader are 'Reclaim My Place', 'BBK', 'Pretty' and 'Dead Bodies Everywhere'(where Jonathan Davis recounts his former profession as a mortician), but in truth there are no weak-links on this record. Korn's 3rd album ends with the mammoth 'My Gift To You'. This album gave me many hours of entertainment, so if you don't already have it-go get it and enjoy!
Free Music Review: Mainstream, huh? Hit: 5 Stars
This review is for the people who only have one reason for not liking this album is (that it's "mainstream"). I have done a little research and compiled a little list of the REAL mainstream acts from 1998 (the year "Follow the Leader" was released).
The top five albums were (in order): Titanic soundtrack, Celion Dion, Garth Brooks, the Backstreet Boys and Shania Twain.
And the top five singles were by Savage Garden, Natalie Imbruglia, Matchbox 20, the Goo-Goo Dolls, and K-Ci & Jojo.
Now, let's be reasonable. Korn is not at all like any of these groups. "Follow the Leader" may have sold five-million albums (over the course of 6 years), but they did not come in the top 100 for album sales in 1998. This album was not mainstream!
Some people would argue that Korn's "sound changed" for this album, that they shaved their edges off and wanted more radio airplay to come from this album. To this, I say "Follow the Leader" only had three singles on it. The self-titled album had as many singles as this one. And if you think "Life Is Peachy" was raw, but "Follow the Leader" wasn't; I'd tell you to read the lyrics to "All in the Family" and "Cameltosis". Once you read those lyrics, you can't tell me they're radio friendly, mainstream. Both of those songs are as raw and raunchy as anything on "Life is Peachy." This album was not a jump to the mainstream!
Finally, if you think that doing a song with Fred Durst, "a sell-out", is going mainstream, I'd like to remind you of this: It is popularly believed that Limp Bizkit "sold-out" with their "Significant Other" album. Well, when Fred Durst did this song ("All in the Family") with Korn in 1998, "Significant Other" was not out yet. So, Fred Durst had not yet sold out. This is not a sell-out, not a mainstream album!
So, now that I've proven that this is definitely NOT mainstream or a sell-out album, I defy you to find one reason for disliking this C.D.

I HATE READING REVIEWS AND SEEING LAME COMMENTS LIKE "THEY STINK REAL BAD, DON'T BUY THIS ALBUM" YEAH OK, LIKE THATS GONNA STOP US. TO BE HONEST I THINK ANYONE WHO GIVES THIS BAND LESS THAN 3 STARS AND A BAD REVIEW IS NOTHING MORE THAN A PATHETIC LITTLE HANSON, BSB OR NSYNC FAN WHO HAS NO BETTER WAY TO USE THIER TIME ON EARTH BESIDES LISTENING TO THE CRAPPY MUSIC OF THOSE GROUPS! I ALSO HATE SEEING COMPARISONS OF JON DAVIS' SINGING TO A DYING CAT, THE WAY I SEE IT IS IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT DON'T FRIGGIN' LISTEN! NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO! I AM GOING TO LEAVE MY E-MAIL AVAILABLE TO ANY KORN FANS WHO MAY WANT TO SPEAK THIER MIND ON WHAT I HAVE SAID. IN CLOSING (THIS IS ONLY DIRECTED TO PEOPLE WHO HATE KORN)YOU MAY THINK THEY SUCK, BUT THEY'RE MILLIONAIRES,THEY HAVE LEGIONS OF LOYAL FANS-AND YOU DON'T, SO THEY MUST BE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT! AND JUST SO I DON'T GET ANY MAIL FROM PARENTS ABOUT BOTHERING "LITTLE KIDS" I AM 16 YEARS OLD, (NOT SOME OLD GUY WITH TIME ON HIS HANDS) THE TYPICAL AGE OF A KORN FAN.
Free Music Review: Best of the Best Hit: 5 Stars
To me, this stands as the best album KoRn has ever dropped. From track 1 (or should I say 13) to the closing track KoRn is ontop of their game, delivering one slam dunk after the other. 'IT'S ON' opens with a great rush of adrenaline. The singles follow, first 'FREAK ON A LEASH' which is a fan favorite and discusses the bands feelings of using their pain to make money and thats followed by 'GOT THE LIFE' which is about selling out or should I say the idea of selling out to the media. 'DEAD BODIES EVERYWHERE' is one of the best tracks here, with eerie synthetics and guitar work, piano steps in the background and the onslaught of "Dead Bodies Everywhere!" throughout the chorus it's the perfect song for the KoRn nation. 'CHILDREN OF THE KORN' features my main man Ice-Cube and it's brilliant...I love it. KoRn's best calabo (although 'PLAY ME' with Nas is pretty tight too) 'B.B.K.' was my friends favorite track here, and it's cool, but not the best. 'PRETTY' is disturbing as all get out. It's the true story about a man who raped his two-year-old daughter, breaking her legs and smashing her face against the bathroom floor. Sick song choice but it's these types of subjects that prove the world is one sick twisted place. 'ALL IN THE FAMILY' with Fred Durst is retarded...don't get me started here. 'RECLAIM MY PLACE' is awsome ("What the fu*k!") and 'JUSTIN' ("Fu*k all the Bull$hit!") is also TOP-NOTCH! 'SEED' is a song for Jonothan's son and it's a nice one at that...'CAMELTOSIS' with Tre Hardson is decent, but nothing to write home about...but the closer 'MY GIFT TO YOU' is steps above their epic closer 'DADDY'...the whole feel is great. The best song here, hands down, is 'DEAD BODIES EVERYWHERE' but this stands alone as the only KoRn album to be complete from start to finish with no filler, no tracks that feel forced, just great music from start to finish!
