Free Music Notes for Follow the LeaderFree Music Review: How did they do it? Hit: 5 Stars
I just recently started liking Korn since Untouchables came out (I don't even know why I decided to buy it, but when I did I became obsessed with Korn). I loved Untouchables, and got the rest of their albums in a random order (whenever I could pick one up). There are two of their albums that I can't stop listening to (Korn and this). This album is so incredibly good that I have to listen to the whole thing every time I stick it in my cd player. Everything just screams "KORN". From the spooky cover art to the fact that it starts on track 13 (I have a theory that this is some sort of biography of Jon Davis's life and it starts at age 13, it kinda makes sense). It's On! just got me right in the mood for Korn. Not one single song is bad, and I like them all equally. I'm not a huge rap fan, but I still loved Children of the Korn and Cameltosis. I have a lot of music. Whenever I buy a new cd, after I'm done listening to it I always stick Follow the Leader back in my player. I know I was a little late on picking this one up (4 years hehehe), but its a classic and will be for a very long time. This is also the last Korn cd that is really intrumental (as in the drums, bass, and guitars play just as big a role as the vocals) since Issues and Untouchables, in my opinion, focus more on Jon. After Life Is Peachy, I guess Korn felt they owed it to the fans to make the best cd ever. If you don't have this cd, because maybe you didn't like Untouchables, or Korn, or Issues, or Life Is Peachy, buy it anyway. You don't have to be a Korn fan to love this cd.

13.ITS ON-9/10:awsome sound with a cool chorus. 14.Freak on a leash-10/10:lyrics and chorus are awsome but the music is a little weak but its still a classic. 15.Got the Life-9/10:cool sound and song but could have been longer. 16.Dead Bodies Everywhere-10/10:favs song of the album.Off the hook chorus and the music is the kind that made Korn famous. 17.Children of the Korn-9/10:most korn fans dont like this song because it is too much rap but I think it is awsome and i dont even like rap music.Cool long song. 18.B.B.K.-10/10:another classic lyrical and musical style. Chorus is awsome. 19.Pretty-9/10:a song with a true dark and sorrowful meaning that most korn fans should know about. Cool haunting song. 20.All in the Family-8/10:Funny rap/rock lryical battle song between Fred D. and Jon D.An alright song to listen to every once in the while. Would be better without the last 10 seconds of the song because it sounds gay. 21.Reclaim my place-10/10:Cool chorus and sound and meaning. 22.Justin-9/10:other dark song that is kind of like a tribute song. The lyrics were great but the chorus is weird. 23.Seed-10/10:A killer metal tune. Best chorus of the whole album and a just a ripping tune. 24.Cameltosis-7/10:Kind of a weak rap song. Chorus is ok. 25.My gift to you-6/10:probably the worse and most overrated song on the album and it is too long. 26.[Hidden song}Earache my eye:Just a funny song sung by Cheech and Chong. A very goofy conversation and song makes up this hidden track.
Free Music Review: A Surprisingly Good Listen Hit: 5 Stars
With their new reputation as a "hybrid" band, KoRn released their third album with the lead single, entitled "Got The Life." The song was out of style for them, but good. When I listened to this album, I understood KoRn's new categorization. Songs, such as "Children of the KoRn" and "Cameltosis," are perfect rap and rock mixes. Not a rap fan? You won't care, if you like KoRn. These songs are nothing like "Wicked," from their second album. Just wanted to clear that up. Moving on, all of the songs on the album are good. From the rocking opener, "It's On" to the heavy closer, "My Gift To You," KoRn's style is everywhere. The album shows much experimentation, though. Fieldy is still clicking away, but Head and Munky have really screwed around with their pedals. The outcome is the same riff played 13 different ways. You won't care, though; it was still cool. David's playing is much faster, which KoRn fans have been hoping for. The only thing I didn't like was the DJ scratching. I found it unnecessary. It acts as a nuisance, but doesn't take away the enjoyment I have with the disc. Those of you who like the dark and heavy KoRn of the past may be disappointed. Davis is not as much of a brooding vocalist. Don't worry, the adult is still expressing teen anger better than a real teen ever could, but the raw energy is fading. Some of the emotions are mature, which I found a welcome change. With these many things said, Follow The Leader is a great album.

Free Music Review: Underrated by true Korn fans Hit: 5 Stars
While a lot of rap rock fans seem to be in love with this album, true Korn fans tend to like this album less because of its mass appeal. I think this happens because once again the band helped expand the rap rock genre; much like the self titled help influence nu metal bands. "Got The Life" at first wasn't one of their better tracks, but you soon realize this song was made to be played live because it is phenominal. The first track that really captures me is "Dead Bodies Everywhere" easily one of Korn's better tracks and now a concert regular. "Children of the Korn" is helped by Ice Cube and the track is really good because it features a rapper but doesn't lose any of Korn's aggression. Jonathan's most disturbed lyrics probably come from the song "Pretty" which was about Jonathan's job as a morgue assistant. If only "I Can Remember" replaced "All In The Family" then this album would be listenable all the way through. If your wanting to know where to hear this it is on one of Korn's Got The Life import singles. "Justin" is about a dying Korn fan that insisted he see Korn before he passed away, and while I think musically it is a great track Jon's high pitched vocals get annoying. "My Gift To You" is the perfect way to finish out the album with Jon's sick and disturbing lyrics to his ex-wife which at the time was his wife. By the way, if you hold on Cheech and Korn do a great cover of "Earache My Eye".
