Free Music Notes for Korn

Free Music Review: Don't believe it...
Hit: 5 Stars

First off I first started listening to Korn with "Follow the Leader" so if thats what Korn is to you then we are on the same page. Its true that Korn sounds different. For me that is the end of what most of the other reviews have to say and my own.

There is as far as anything I have listened to, any group that has stayed the same as when I first started listening. If anyone were to show such signs then they would be slammed with words such as "old","trapped in the past" and "outdated". So the idea of "Korn is dead" because they have taken a new approach is out the window since its backwards thinking.

This cd is a polished version of Korn. Don't jump yet,I haven't finished. While it is polished it is still clearly Korn(FTLeader Korn).Your not going to listen to the cd and think your listening to U2's latest drive for political greatness. Instead your going to see a Korn looking to stay KORN while moving forward.

There are definitely KORN vocals, songwriting, sound in the CD. Yet there are new elements they are clearly trying out. "B*tch We Got a Problem"'s intro is a new element while the body of the song is Korn+some polish. Perhaps "polish" is a bad word to use. Yet "refinement" doesn't work either. Perhaps "diversity" should be the key word here. Personally I am enjoying the hell out of the new elements and look forward to its evolutionary path years down the road.

I received it as a gift for Christmas and I can say that I would definitely go out and buy it had I known about the cd earlier (been under a rock lately). "Starting Over","B*tch We Got a Problem","Evolution","Sing Sorrow" are my favorites, not to say I'm turning the volume down on the rest. In fact it seems like my volume isn't as loud as I remember, then again everything else is starting to sound a bit lower ,if you know what I mean.;)

If you like your bands to enter a static existence after 1 cd then move along. If you like to see your bands keep its core values/sounds but progress and take risks that could get those that never really cared about them to complain then start left clickin. The deluxe edition is definitely worth it.

My predictions for Korn's next album is to keep some of the new elements they used in this one. They will take that and further intergrate it into their sound while at the same time finding an even better way to showcase their sound we have apparently become to used to. Hoping they stayed the same would be cursing them to nothingness.

In the case of this album, Change is a good thing. Good for Korn, good for the fanbase and ensures a future for the band's progression. In a million years they will say those Mutha Fkers were all the rage, yeah..I think so.

Korn Poster

With its membership dwindling down to a scant three members, Korn seems to have come to something of a crossroads??move forward with its tried and true sound or evolve into something that may only vaguely resemble the hype and heft behind Follow the Leader. 2007's somewhat unexpected Unplugged disc proved an interesting but flawed step in a different direction but this self-titled/untitled offering clumsily fumbles when it should grab the ball and run for a season-defining touchdown. "Hold On" and "Do What They Say" come off as soggy sonic oatmeal; "Kiss" channels a very dark Smashing Pumpkins to mixed results; "Bitch We Got a Problem" gives away its best stuff in the title; "Innocent Bystander" and "Starting Over" have three or four great ideas that never reach fruition and the rest of the album ("Killing," "Hushabye") proves fairly forgettable, a sign that Korn may be closer to crumbling than anyone could have imagined. That's too bad 'cause time was it had the makings of a pretty good American band. ??Jedd Beaudoin
